The Worst Day
{Lyanna’s POV}
Today was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. I just turned 18, the age that you gain your wolf, and you find your mate. How did it all go so horribly wrong? I guess I should start at the beginning, instead of how my day ended. This morning I woke up, showered, ate breakfast, and got ready for the day. I was so excited that I laid out my clothes for today, last night. I pulled on the pastel pink sundress that had laces on the bottom, and pulled on my white heels. I brushed out my long, dark brown hair and left it wavy down my back. It was so long now that it reached my thighs. I slapped on some makeup and finished my look with a white purse. I grabbed my phone and keys and walked out of the front door locking it behind me. I’ve lived on my own for years now, the Alpha and Luna took me in for a while, but eventually they put me in a house at the edge of the pack grounds and left me here. Not that I mind, I quite enjoy my alone time, and no one ever bothers me out here. I hopped in my car and took off towards the pack house. Today was the day, I finally turned 18, and I was ready to find my mate! I wanted so badly for my mate to be one of the visitors we have this weekend, but chances are I won’t find him today, or this week, or even this year. I sighed as I drove along the curvy road with the windows down.
I could hear birds chirping in the tree line and knew that today could be the greatest day of my life. As I made it to the pack house I rolled up my windows and got out of the car making my way indoors. Everyone was rushing around, fixing tables, taking orders, getting everything prepared for tonight. Our Alpha heir Zane, was going to finally take over as Alpha. Everyone is also expecting him to claim his girlfriend Rose as his chosen mate tonight. It was an exciting day all around, that was, until I smelled my mate. I froze as my eyes made contact with him. “No..” I gasped under my breath.
He walked over to me, placing his hand on my shoulder. His warm brown eyes were filled with an emotion I couldn’t quite read. He stood much taller than me, I was a mere 5’0, and he was 6’2. His shaggy, dirty blonde hair was enough to make most of the she wolves here swoon, not even to mention his sun kissed skin. “Lyanna, we should go talk in private..” he whispered.
I gulped, following him to an empty room, as soon as the door shut his demeanor changed. He went from kind, protective, and joyful Alpha, to a monster. “Lyanna, I already have my chosen mate, but even if I didn’t, I would never choose a half-breed like you!”
I gasped at this sudden insult, he had always been so kind, I didn’t think he’d have anything cruel to say about what I am. My mother was a werewolf, just like the rest of the pack, but my father was a vampire. Normally if a vampire and a werewolf were to be mated, they would reject one another and find their second chance in their own species. My mother and father were the exception, they fell madly in love.
“I’m going to give you one, and only one chance. Get out of here, I never want to see you again you worthless b****!” He yelled kicking me to the floor.
I let out a soft whimper as I landed funny on my wrist. The physical pain was nothing like the emotional turmoil I was going through within. “But.. I thought you would love me.. isn’t that how it’s supposed to be?” I cried.
“I could never love a monster like you, you’re worthless and disgusting. If I ever see you on these pack grounds again, I’ll end your life!” He threatened. “I, Alpha Zane Woods of DarkRoot Pack reject you, Lyanna Brooks of DarkRoot Pack as my mate, and hereby banish you from DarkRoot pack!” He yelled his Alpha aura pouring over me, and the pain of our rejection hitting me.
I gripped my chest and breathed in and out heavily. “I, Lyanna Brooks accept your rejection!” I cried out in pain feeling the mate bond snap entirely. This was the most pain I had ever felt, my heart was breaking and the pain was unbearable.
He looked down spitting on me. “I’ll give you until the morning to get your things and leave, if you’re not gone by then I’ll have the pack warriors tear you limb from limb!”
I sobbed on the floor, pulling my knees to my chest and sat there until he left. I never expected him to be so cruel, but here he was breaking my heart. He was the only man I had ever had any affection for at all, sure it was just the mate bond, but it should be enough, but now he ripped my heart out and stomped on it. Da** this mate bond, making me fall for him, even if he is handsome, and usually kind, this pain in my chest was more than I could bear. I cried for a short time before I decided to pick myself up from the floor. If I didn’t get out of here, I’d be dead in the morning. I ran from the room I was in and made my way to my car. I jumped in, starting it and driving back to my home as quickly as possible.
Before long I made it to my house and leapt from the car running inside and packing all of my things. It took me all day, and half the night, but I finally got the trailer hooked up to my car and packed all of my things in it. As soon as I was packed up I took one more look at my house and sighed. I jumped into the drivers seat and made my way towards the pack land border. Once I had made it off the pack lands, I looked back, taking a deep breath. “I Lyanna Brooks hereby sever all ties with DarkRoot Pack, I no longer serve this pack or it’s Alpha.” I said. I felt the pack ties break, and I turned back to the wheel taking off down the road towards an entirely new life.
