{Lyanna’s POV} It’s been a month since the day I left my pack, within that month I got myself a job at an elementary school as a teachers aid, and I have rented a nice one bedroom apartment. It has everything I need, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room. I finally unpacked the last few boxes yesterday and was sitting and enjoying my time on my couch. Tomorrow was the first day of working with the children, something I have been worried over. I can’t very well disclose the information that I’m a half werewolf, half vampire hybrid to a bunch of humans. I had been working most of my life to avoid humans, but since I was kicked out of my pack, there wasn’t much I could do about it now. I had also taken up some volunteer work at a hospital so I could snag some blood bags. I haven’t drank from a person in years, but I do have to make sure I stay well fed. I always stole the most common blood types, that way the hospital wouldn’t really notice or care. What I had taken could easily be replaced. I poured a bag out into my mug and drank it, making sure to savor every last drop. “That should get me through the day!” I cheered in a chipper tone. “Today is going to be great!” I said walking over to the mirror, I studied my reflection and smiled. The outfit I chose for today was professional but cute as well. A puffy white, button up top, with a black overall dress on over top. I paired it with my lacy, white socks, and a pair of black, leather platforms. With these on I was 5’4, which seems small, but compared to my normal height, this was exceptional. I had my hair pulled up in a bun with some loose curls down on each side of my face. I did a very natural look with my makeup, only adding a little pink in my crease, and some eyeliner, and mascara. I pouted my lips and rolled on some chapstick and made my way out the door, locking it behind me. I whistled as I made my way down the stairs and to my car. I couldn’t help but smile as I got in and turned it on. Music came blasting through, exactly what I needed this morning, some rock music to pump me up. I sang along to the radio until I finally pulled into the school parking lot. I was told to park in the back of the faculty lot until they designated me a spot to park in. I didn’t mind it, the walk wasn’t bad anyways. I parked my car, and made my way into the school. This was my first day, and I couldn’t wait to get started. As nervous as I was, I was also excited. I’ve always loved children, but when I was young there was an incident. The Luna took me to the hospital, and there, we found out that I may never be able to have children. To me, it was one of the most horrible things I had every heard in my life. The Luna on the other hand, looked relieved by this news. When I was young, I couldn’t understand why this would relieve her, but now as an adult I finally know the truth. I was a hybrid and to her, and many others, I should have never been born. So the idea of me procreating was just a preposterous notion for all of the others. I walked into the office, there Delores sat at the front desk. She was an older lady, around 68. She had large glasses, and short gray hair that was very curly. “Oh, hello dear, so good to see you again!” She said sweetly. “I’ve got this for you.” She opened here desk and pulled out a lanyard. It was black and had a photo of me on it along with my name and my occupation here. “Thank you Mrs. Delores.” I said taking it and placing it around my neck. “Any last minute advice?” I asked nervously. She paused for a moment and smiled. “Yes dear, have fun!” She said sweetly. I smiled back and replied. “Thank you.” I took my leave out of the office and made my way to Mrs. Hattie’s classroom. Mrs. Hattie was also an older lady, she was 64. She had been teaching at this school for around 40 years. She taught 1st grade, and was so kind to me when I met her before. I anxiously walked into the classroom. She was organizing some toys in the corner of the room. I knocked on the door as I entered the room. “Mrs. Hattie, what can I help with?” I asked. “Oh Lyanna, you’re here thank goodness.” She said smiling. “I could use some help with my seating chart, and the handouts for today need to be printed out. If you go to my computer you’ll see the class roster on the desk, and the papers I need printed out on the screen.” She answered. I smiled walking over to her desk. “I’m on it!” I said, sitting down and looking over the papers she needed. I looked down at the roster and saw there were 18 kids in this class. I printed off 20 copies of each different page and when they were done I passed them out to each desk. I looked over to Mrs. Hattie, she had finished with the toys and was writing her name on the white board. “Mrs. Hattie, how would you like the seating chart to go? Alphabetical order, or by gender boy, girl?” I asked looking over the list of names. “ Or would you rather just let them pick their own seats?” “Maybe they should just pick their own seats for now, then if they give us any trouble we can move those students.” She smiled, nodding her head. I nodded in agreement and helped her finish cleaning and organizing the room. Soon the bell rang, and little feet could be heard in the hallway. Students began to file into the classroom. “Alright children, put your things away at your designated chubby, then sit wherever you like.” She said. Soon all the kids had put away their things and were in a seat. I smiled across the room setting all of their excited faces. That’s when I noticed one child that wasn’t talking to the others, and he wasn’t smiling either. He had shaggy dark brown hair, and big brown eyes. He rested his head on his hand and stared out the window not paying attention to anything. Mrs. Hattie began calling names on her Roster, and soon she came to a name and no one answered. “Maximillian Grey?” She said again. The little boy snapped out of his trance. “It’s just Max.” He said. “And I’m here.” He turned back away and stared out the window once again. I noticed that he didn’t smile, not even once.
