Chapter 4 BLACK WOLF

1030 Words
YUNIFER'S POV A week later passed, and those scenes that I witnessed back then about those three identical wolves had completely dissolved in my head. After I sent my brother to his school, I also went to the school. While walking, my eyes caught the poster that was plastered on the bulletin board which made me stop walking as I glanced at it. [Street Fighting Arena. We welcome firm humans or wolves! Champion Prize range in a hundred thousand! For every time you win, the prize would be thirty thousand! The venue will be at the Dark Alley tomorrow! See you there, Fighters!] My eyes twinkled in delight upon seeing the prize for every win of the fight. This poster is really for me! I always had the habit of practicing boxing for these past years when I was living in my mother's house. Every time that mother would go out, I would also practice boxing on my own just based on the reference in the book. I started to strengthen all of my muscles especially after I already got out of that hell home. I would train myself every day so that I could protect my brother and not let him be in harm. I glanced at the poster again and let out a satisfied smile. I don't have to find a part-time job anymore. In a good mood, I walked toward the university where I'm currently studying right now. However, by the time I appeared on the campus, the group of bees started to buzz around, whispering and talking behind my back while looking at me with those mocking gazes. I wanted to tell them that I could hear their bullshits but anyway, I decided to ignore it. I forgot to introduce my life. This is my new living hell. Ever since day one, I received a lot of mocking because of my background, appearance, the way I act, and because I didn't receive study—because I self-study which is why they started to mock me. Especially after knowing that I am a scholar and that my grades are even better than theirs, which made them despise me. "Damn, this is my first time seeing someone enter the school dressing so shabbily. Doesn't she know that our school has a good reputation all over the country? With her dressing so shabbily like that... is she trying to embarrass the school?" One of the students muttered while giving me a side glance as she kept on whispering to her friend. "Damn, is she a school nerd or something? I've heard that she's a scholar!" It was another student who exclaimed those words while watching me. "Look at that fat ugly duckling. Who knows if she cheated to get the scholarship knowing that she didn't study for her whole life? Pfft..." Another voice rang again until I became the most talked of the campus on my first day after seeing that I was dressed up so shabbily. What should I dress other than a plain t-shirt and jeans? Do I have to dress myself so sexily as if I'm going to a party like them? Even without looking at them, I could feel their gazes filled with contempt and disdain. When I heard their words, I rolled my eyes and didn't bother to correct her. Instead, I went inside my room. Before I could do so, those bees swarmed in my direction and started to sting me with their hateful words but I just acted like a deaf, not hearing nor responding to any of their words. I pursed my lips and decided to go back to my classroom and not think too much of this. Actually, I managed to jump to a level which is the first year of college because of my intelligence despite that I was self-studied. I already sent my brother, Asher to his new school, and at first, I was having a hard time consoling him especially since he was reluctant to part with me but in the end, he accepted his destiny. Since today is my first day of school, I just wore my white shirt and jeans matching my black shoes. I don't have the academy's uniform for now so I have to wear these clothes. I was kind of nervous, but at the same time excited that I'm going to school right now. There will be no restriction, no abuse, and no vicious words that would haunt me every day. I took a deep breath as I entered my section and I happened to be in Section A. I'm hoping to meet new friends. When I entered the classroom, all eyes were on me. Some of them were snickering as soon as they saw me. Our professor glanced at me and calmly said, "Please introduce yourself to them." I smiled and looked at my classmates as I started to introduce myself. "My name is Yunifer Sarmiento and I'm eighteen years old. I'm a new student here. I'd be glad if you'd be my friend. Please take care of me!" I politely said with a smile on my face. There was a strange silence in the whole room after receiving my introduction. I looked at them and let out a heavy sigh, waiting for them to react or something but they didn't. Instead, they averted their eyes as if they didn't want to associate themselves with me. I couldn't help but feel disappointed. Obviously, I've been preparing for this thing to happen and hoping that I would make friends or be on good terms with them but it turned out that I was wrong. Even though they didn't speak, their eyes looked like they didn't want to see me at all. Much worse was that they were trying to treat me as if I was an air. I let out a fake laugh and spoke again. "It's a pleasure to meet you all." However, just like before I haven't seen them reacted, making me sigh. In the end, the professor gave up the idea of continuing the so-called introduction and ordered me to go back to my seat which I obediently obeyed.
