Chapter 3

Dephanie stood dazed as she could vaguely hear loud noises, her worst fear had come. As she stood, she could see a man walking through the smoke, he had caused chaos to the point that half of the building was unrecognizable, she could hear yells and screams. Dylan walked firmly and steady in a brown suit with both his fists clenched. Her legs were shaky and she couldn’t hold herself anymore, a few distance from her was were she kept Kadmiel. Her mind swept to carrying him with her but Dylan was much closer that he could see her face. Such idea wouldn’t work if she dare try to take Kadmiel with her, she took to her heels jumping through a window and out. “Charlotte” Dylan called in a whisper, how was it possible that Kadmiel’s grandma was the one who kidnapped him, he had just left her at home to search for him. He shaked in head in denial, something was wrong, looking by his right, he found a room that she had turned her gaze to. He opened the door and found Kadmiel sitting on a bed taping his feet to the ground. “Dad” he ran to him and hugged him with both hands, “I am sorry I am late” Dylan said arranging a few strands of hair that got stuck in his eyes from the rush. “It’s okay Dad, I am glad that you are here” Kadmiel looked up to his father as he grabbed in his hand in relief, he never doubted for a second that he would come for him. Dylan squatted down to his height “Can I ask you something” he said and Kadmiel nodded. “Was that your grandma?” Dylan was still in shock that it could be Charlotte. “Yes” Kadmiel nodded his head as he rubbed his eyes, Dylan could see the s***h mark on his hand, “Who did this to you” he asked as his anger arose again, “Grandma took a drop of my blood into a glass filled with water and gave the rest to drink it. After they were done, they all bowed calling me LORDE” Kadmiel explained to the little potential that he could. “They did what” Dylan yelled, his eyes wavering with death. He picked up Kadmiel as he walked out, Raphael stood outside waiting for him with a lighter ready to burn the place down according to his order. Dylan slightly nodded his head and Raphael threw the lighter which caught fire immediately. At the Troy Mansion, Anabel waited for Dylan, when she heard them drive in, she ran to the door, Kadmiel came running to her arms and she smiled. “I miss you Mommy” he said not willing to let go of her. Dylan walked up to them with his face seething with anger, “Who was it” she asked him. “Why don’t we ask your mother” Dylan walked in holding her hands in his. She twitched her brows in curiosity, what had mother got to do with Kadmiel’s kidnap, she thought. Charlotte stood with Montessori as they faced Dylan and Anabel, “Did you come back here to seek refuge thinking that I won’t know you were the one who abducted Kadmiel?” Dylan stated, “What are you talking about?” Charlotte asked shocked by his accusations. “What is going on?” Anabel asked confused. “When I got there, I found her” Dylan pointed and Montessori couldn’t keep his cool. “Don’t you dare point at her” he yelled. “Mom, is there something that I need to know” Anabel asked ordering Kadmiel to go to his room, she didn’t want him to watch them argue. “I don’t understand why he is accusing me of abducting Kadmiel, I wouldn’t do such a thing to my only Grandson” she answered and the sincerity could be heard in her voice but Dylan was unmoved, he was sure of what he saw. “I can’t deal with this, if you can’t tell me the truth, at least tell your daughter the truth, is it fun lying to her face” Dylan yelled. “Calm down” Anabel cut in, she knew how fragile her mom was, her health was still a major issue to her. “You kidnapped Kadmiel” Dylan roared. “I didn’t do it” Charlotte shouted back, she couldn’t take being accused for what she didn’t do. Montessori pulled her to him and buried her face to his chest, “It seems your husband has gone nuts, we will not stay here and watch being accused for what we didn’t do. Goodbye” He turned away to his room to pack his things. “What the hell Dylan” Anabel turned to face him, he was clearly separating her from her family and she didn’t like that. “I know what I saw, I thought at least you of all people will believe me, but I guess I was wrong. If you need more prove, why don’t you ask our son what he saw” He took to his heels and straight to his study. “I need to talk to Kadmiel” Charlotte said standing outside his room, she opened the door and found Kadmiel reading a book. “Hi Grandson” she said waving to him but he gave her the silent treatment, “I will be leaving, won’t you say Goodbye to Grandma” she asked despite his rejection. Kadmiel looked at her with cold eyes, he couldn’t quite understand the duality, why would try to act nice to him at home, but a few hours back, she was harsh to him when she had him locked up. “Kadmiel are you sure that it was me that you saw” she asked to clarify and he nodded, she wiped the tears from her eyes, for her family to blame her for a crime that she didn’t do was disheartening. She turned towards the door and found Anabel standing close to Montessori. She had overheard everything but her face showed indifference. “Mom, Dad, do you really have to go” Anabel asked with pleading eyes, “Yes, I can’t stand by and watch your mother being accused, if we are to solve this, it would be better if we do it separately” He said and Anabel watched them leave.
