[Trigger warning! This episode contains references of abuse!] {Mason’s POV} I followed Cassie back up to her room, she never let go of my shirt. She was still shaking, and I could hear her quietly sobbing. As we made it to her room, she turned and shut the door. She sighed, and took a deep breath. She faced away from me, and pulled her shirt up over her head. Once I saw her back, I couldn’t hold back the growl that left me. She had huge scars all over her back. They were in straight lines, but slashed from every angle. Her father had cut her with a knife, and not just any knife, a silver knife. I examined her back, and walked over to her. I pulled off my t-shirt and threw it over her head. I watched her carefully put her arms through the holes, and pull her hair through the top. “Your father did this to you.. what else did he do to you?” I asked her, anger evident in my voice. “Please.. I don’t want to think about it anymore.. it’s consumed my whole life.. you already know about this and the poison. I didn’t..” she sobbed, pulling her hand up to her mouth. “I didn’t realize that he wanted me dead.. I knew he hated me.. he blamed me for my mother’s death.. but I didn’t realize that he.. he wanted to kill me.” She cried, and hugged herself. Her tiny body in my shirt, it completely engulfed her. “Hey, hey, come here.” I said, pulling her into my chest. The one that was now bare, I looked down at her. “It’s okay, it’s all okay, you’re safe now.” She cried into my chest, her hands resting on either side of her head. It was at that precise moment that Matt and Layla came back with Cassie’s things. They burst into the room and looked over the two of us. Matt’s eyes caught mine, and I knew he wanted to link. “Mate is broken..” Havoc said to Chaos, and Matt. “What do you mean?” Matt asked back in the link. “Her father did more than just poison her, he physically hurt her. I said, linking with Layla and Matt both. Layla gasped softly, and held her hand to her mouth. “The scars.. the ones on her back.. her father did that to her?” She asked. “You knew?” I asked her, all of us speaking freely through the link. “I saw them when I helped bathe her.. I knew she was scrawny for her age.. and when I saw her back.. I should have pieced it together.” She answered. “What scars?” Matt asked, looking between the two of us. I showed him through our link, what I had seen on her back. He and Chaos both growled in unison, and Cassie pulled away from me turning to see them. She wiped her face, trying to hide the fact that she’d been crying. “Oh.. good.. you’re both back!” She whispered happily. A small smile pulling across her face. “And you brought my things.. thank you both..” Layla and Matt rushed to her, pulling her into their arms. “Are you okay?” Matt asked. “Do you need anything?” Layla spoke out. “I.. I think I really needed a hug..” she cried softly again, wrapping an arm around each of their necks. “I didn’t realize how long it had been since I had one like this..” she whimpered. “You mean.. you’ve been going without hugs this whole time?” Layla said pulling back and looking at her. “The last one.. before today.. it was before my mother died.. she and my father each gave me a big hug before putting me in my car seat.” She choked a sob down. “Sorry.. I.. thank you..” she said, looking between the three of us. “For what?” I asked, making my way closer to her. “For reminding me what family is like.. what being cared about is like..” she smiled up at me and hugged deeply into my chest. “No problem Cass..” I said, leaning down and engulfing her in a hug. “You’re welcome to hug us anytime!” Matt said, opening his arms. She turned and dove into his arms, gripping him tightly. Layla walked up behind Cassie and tapped her shoulder. “My turn!” She smiled, opening her arms too. Cassie turned and hugged Layla tightly, and sobbed silently. “Thank you all..” Then we heard it, something that made all of us laugh, Cassie’s stomach grumbling. “Sorry.. I haven’t eaten yet..” she laughed turning to look at me. “Do you think that the soups done?” She asked, smiling brightly. Her face still red, and her eyes still swollen from the tears. “Yeah, it’s done by now, come on, let’s go get some soup!” I smiled before walking past her and messing up her hair. “We made plenty, so come on guys, let’s go eat!” As we finished our food, Cassie yawned and stretched. “It’s been a long day Cass, go on to bed, we got the cleanup this time.” I said, looking over at her. “Are you sure? I don’t care to help.” She yawned once again. “Go on to bed Cass, I’ll come help you unpack later, I’ll make sure to get you up before dinner!” Layla said, smiling at her. She nodded and made her way to the elevator. When we were sure she was in her room Matt turned to me. “So.. what are we going to do about her father?” He asked, his voice icy. “When we find him, we’ll bring him back here.. then we’ll decide what to do with him!” I gritted out through clenched teeth. “All I know, is that I’m going to make sure he suffers!” The three of us looked to one another and nodded. We’d do whatever it took to make sure that Cassie’s abuser would suffer.
