{Matthew’s POV}
After Layla walked down the hall to one of the guest rooms beside mine and Mason’s room, my mother and I began walking the opposite direction. “When are you going to talk to her son? She’ll leave, and she might not come back.” She whispered.
“I don’t think she’d never come back.. she and Layla are friends now..” I whispered back.
She swatted my arm and whisper, shouted. “You need to tell her about all of this! She is a shifter, and she’s your mate!”
“But she doesn’t know that mom.. she needs some time to process what just happened before anyone drops anything else onto her lap.” I told her calmly. “I want her to stay too, of course I want my mate here, and with me, but I can’t just push all of this into her. She needs some time, and some space to figure things out before I open up a whole other part of her life.”
She sighed, the sigh that she only let out when she knew that I was right. “Okay, okay.. you’re right, when did you become so smart?” She asked, wrapping her arm around mine.
“Because I listened to my mother growing up!” I laughed out.
{Cassie’s POV}
Layla took me to a large bedroom, one with a large bay window with blankets and pillows on it. There was a large princess bed with four posts and sheer curtains hanging down. She turned on her heel and walked out, then soon returned with some bags. One had pajamas, one had more bra’s and panties, and one had clothes in it. “Thank you..” I said, sitting down on the window and looking out. Outside I could see a cherry tree, and a garden. There was a trail of stones that littered the ground, and a white, wooden gazebo. I looked down closely inspecting it and saw Mason sitting inside of it on a swing, with a book. I looked at the way that the moon shone over his muscular body, and the bluish tint of his raven colored hair. I watched as his thick eyelashes flickered ever so softly as he read. Then suddenly his eyes flicked up to me. When he looked at me it was as if he were staring into my soul. I gasped softly, turning and moving from my place. “I guess I’ll get ready for bed..” I said, seeing that Layla was laying out the clothes I had. “Thank you, for everything.”
“No problem, there are new tooth brushes, hair brushes, soaps, and all of that in the bathroom.” She said pointing to door here in my room. She then turned and walked out, closing the door behind her.
I slowly walked to the bed, grabbing a long sleeve crop top shirt. It was deep v-necked, and had a pair of matching pants. It was soft, a nice sweater set. I took off my clothes, tossing them into one of the empty bags, and walked into my bathroom. I quickly showered, before brushing my teeth and hair. I walked back out, grabbing the grey pajama set, pulling it on. As it covered me, I smiled happily, it fit wonderfully and was so warm and comfy. I slowly walked back over to look out, and to my surprise Mason was still there reading. I looked at the clock in my room, it was almost 11:30pm. I sat back down in the window, and analyzed him for a moment. He was so handsome, he and Matthew both. Matthew was always so sweet, and kind, whereas Mason could have hurt Sammie earlier. I sighed, my body slightly aching for some reason.
I felt guilty, he and Matthew had gone out and bought me clothes, and helped me through all of this. Yet the first and only interaction I had with Mason was yelling at him. I swallowed deeply, then turned to my bedroom door. I paused when I saw a large black robe hanging up by the door, and a pair of slippers. I slid them on, pulling the large robe over me. It swallowed me, but it was so soft and warm. I walked out into the hallway and to the elevator, and made my way down to the first floor. When the door opened, I walked out past the dining room and looked for any way into the garden. I soon found a door, and quickly grabbed a blanket bundling it up in my arms and made my way outside. It had been cold these past few days, and as I opened the door I could see my breath. I followed the stone path, and followed it to the gazebo, where Mason still sat with his book in his hand. He looked up from his book as I stepped up into the gazebo. “What’re you doing out here so late? You’ll get sick!” He said, looking me up and down.
“I could say the same for you.” I said walking over and wrapping the blanket around his broad shoulders. “You’ll be sick if you sit out here in only a pair of pants and a t-shirt!” I scolded.
“So you came out here because you were worried I’d get sick?” He asked, a smirk spreading across his face.
I gulped, a blush spreading across my face. “Well, there’s that.. and I just wanted to apologize for earlier. I shouldn’t have yelled at you.. I just.. I was worried that Sammie could have gotten hurt..” I started, he placed a large hand on my forearm and brought me closer to him.
“Hey, don’t apologize, everyone needs to be scolded occasionally. You were right you know.. I should have been more careful. Sometimes I forget how little Sammie is, he has such a big personality. I promise to be more careful with him from now on.” He said, his hand leaving sparks across my arm where his hand rested.
I looked down where his hand sat, and my stomach fluttered. “W-What is that?” I asked, feeling the sparks floating across my arm.
“You can feel that?” He asked, looking down at my arm.
I nodded, then he pulled away softly, the sudden movement making me gasp and flinch. I closed my eyes tightly and turned to leave, quickly trying to run. He grabbed my wrist, sending sparks through it again, he pulled me back gently, but both of us lost our footing as I fell onto his chest, my legs between his much larger ones.
