Mr. CEO - You’re Dumped Chapter 41 - I’m sorry Richard’s P.O.V It’s been a month since Rafael passed away and since I last saw the Mondragon family. I know they must be all over the news, but I decided that this would be a perfect chance to focus on my company and my relationship with Lillian. My mother has been sick ever since I returned and I am not prepared to lose her to the cold hands of death, either. She has refused to go to the hospital and so I have a doctor drop the house every day to come check how she is doing. I lie on my bed, tired from all the workload I had returned with from the office. Lillian and I have been working extra hard to secure the loyalty of our shareholders who haven’t accepted our company being sold off to the Rose Corp. A few of them had already pulled out their donations and shares while the rest still wanted us to convince them on how good our partnership with the Rose Corp. would turn out. “Richie! Are you dressed yet?” Lillian’s voice calls out to me from the dining room. “Dressed for what?” I yell back, and there’s silence for a short while. I hear her footsteps on the staircase and, in a wink of an eye; she storms into the room, all dolled up. She is wearing a golden laced gown that beautifully stops above the knee. It is fit to her body, revealing her hour glass body shape, which is breathtaking. “Why do you look so business oriented?” I ask her and she scuffs. “Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten that we have a business meeting with people from the bank loan agency,” Lillian sighs and I gasp. “It totally crossed my mind!” I yell and quickly run into that bathroom to take a shower. “How’s mum doing?” I ask as I step out of the bathroom with my towel around my waist. “She’s still sleeping, so I didn’t want to disturb her or wake up,” Lillian informs me and I smile at her. “Why didn’t you wake me up on time?” I ask her and she didn’t respond. “Is everything ready for our meeting for the company loan?” I ask, changing the subject. She nods her head in approval. I get dressed and, once set; we have our breakfast and set out for our meeting with the bank. ********** We got to the restaurant where our meeting with the representatives from the bank was scheduled to take place, but there was nobody there. “Are you sure the meeting is today?” I whisper into Lillian’s ear, and she doesn’t say a word to me. “You know it’s improper to snub your fiancé,” I inform her and she scuffs. “We’ve been engaged for almost a year and you have made no further move for our wedding preparations. Believe me, sometimes I hate being called your fiancée,” Lillian bickers, and I take that as a warning to hold my peace. After twenty minutes of sitting in silence just the both of us, a man and a lady dressed in brown suits, walk into the restaurant. They have a look around and spot us where we sit. “That must be them,” Lillian says, and I hush her to avoid attracting unwanted attention to ourselves. The man and the lady walk over to us and on closer observation, it appears the man was merely an escort or a guard to the lady with him. She takes the seat opposite us without even asking and the man stands behind her. “Good day Mr. and Mrs. Lim.” Her greeting comes as a surprise to me since no one has ever addressed me and Lillian in such manner. I look at Lillian, who now avoids eye contact with me, and I am very aware that she must fill in that we were married in the loan application form. “Good day Miss… um?” “It’s Lori. Call me Miss Lori.” The lady says, and I smile at her brightly. “Now you wanted to apply for a company loan?” She asks. “Yes, we do… I mean we did… I mean we want…” “What my husband is trying to say is that we did apply for a loan, which is what this meeting is about,” Lillian responds, coming to my rescue as I did not know what exactly I was saying to the Lori. Lori snaps her fingers and the man with her produces a file from a bag which I did not take notice of when they entered the restaurant. He hands the file over to her and she slides it across the table to me. I gently open the file, hoping to see that our loan request was granted, but it wasn’t. I stare at her in disbelief and Lillian yanks the paper out of my hand to see what is written in it for herself. “Declined!” she yells and the lady scuffs. “My boss has refused to grant your loan request judging from your company’s past records and the fact that you still harbor a thief in your midst,” Lori declares and stands to her feet all so soon to take her leave. “What do you mean by we still harbor a thief in our midst?” I ask her and she stares at Lillian, her expression full of disappointment. “Why don’t you ask your wife?” She responds. “And I heard you are business partners with the famous Mondragon family. I’m pretty sure you should know that they have a court hearing tomorrow,” she adds and walks out of the restaurant. I turn my attention to Lillian, who gulps and stands to her feet. “What was she talking about?” I ask Lillian, and she doesn’t respond. “Answer me!” I yell, now getting the attention of everyone in the restaurant. “Let’s go home and discuss Richie. We’re attracting a lot of unnecessary attention here,” she suggests, but I stand my ground and demand an answer from her. “Tell me what she is talking about or you can forget all about coming home with me tonight,” I demand and tears began to roll down Lillian’s cheek. “Richie, I’m sorry,” she responds, wiping away her tears with her bare hands. “What did you do Lillian?” “I’ve been the one stealing from the company.”
