Mr. CEO - You’re Dumped Chapter 42 - The Wrong Partner Richard’s P.O.V I walk into the house, angry and still in doubt about Lillian’s confession. We had attracted so much attention, the restaurant security had to ask us to leave. “Richie! Let me explain, please?” Lillian’s pleas ring in my ear as she walks into the house behind me. I don’t pay her attention. Mum is seated at the dining table, enjoying her lunch. She doesn’t observe the tension building between me and Lillian. “Mrs. Lim, Richie won’t talk to me,” Lillian informs my mum and I scuff. My mum pays attention to us at last. She doesn’t seem so happy that Lillian interrupted her meal. “What is the matter, both of you?” she asks. Lillian takes a breath. “Richie is mad at me but sunny day why.” “Oh, sure… why don’t you tell her the truth,” I scuff and my mother stands to her feet. “What is going?” she asks, her hands folded. “It’s nothing ma. Sorry that I bothered you,” Lilian mumbles, and I scuff. I raise an eyebrow at her. “Why did you change your mind all of a sudden? I thought you wanted to tell her what happened.” “Richard Lim! What is going?” my mother demands. “This lady here is a bloody liar and thief!” I yell and my mother gasps. “Don’t say that about your wife to be,” my mother warns. She loves Lillian so much. She pressures me back then to get back together with her for reasons I didn’t know. “Ask her why my company is nearly in ruins,” I inform my mother and she turns her gaze to Lillian, who is still crying. “Oh, stop shedding your crocodile tears, Lillian. I’m not buying it anymore. Who else knew?” I ask her and she says nothing. “Did Rafael know? Was that the secret he always wanted to tell me? Is that what he wrote on the piece of paper he gave me before he passed on?” I yell and Lillian falls down on the floor, crying bitterly. “Yes… he knew. He always wanted to tell you, but I wouldn’t let him.” Lillian mumbles, doing her best to fight back the tears which now filled her eyes. “What are the both of you talking about?” mother asks and I scuff. “Lillian has been the one stealing from my company and not Elizabeth,” I inform mother and she doesn’t believe my words. She walks up beside Lillian. “Is that true, young woman?” “Don’t bother lying anymore!” I yell. “Shut up, young man. You shouldn’t make your wife shed tears like this.” my mother advises and I don’t listen. “It’s a good thing she’s not my wife then,” I respond and remove my engagement ring from my finger, throwing it on the floor and walking up to our bedroom. I pack some clothes and a few things I would need, but then I remember I had bought a few clothes during my stay in Puerto Rico. I pick up my phone and call the receptionist at Elizabeth’s office. I have not called her ever since she gave me her number, but I needed all the help I can get. “Hello, this Richard,” I mumble over the phone and she chuckles. “Mr. Richard, it’s so nice to hear from you. I thought you would never call me,” she declares, her voice seducing and enticing. “Arrange me a flight to Puerto Rico at once. I’ll send you the money to cover what expenses it might cost you, and we can go on a dinner date later,” I inform her, and she squeaks over the phone. “Consider it done. Just get to the airport, I’ll handle the rest,” she responds and the call ends. I walk down the stairs and find Lillian and my mum talking about something I’m not so sure. I don’t even bother to find out what it is, rather I take my bag which contains my laptop and some other essential gadget’s and make way to the door. Mum spots me from the corner of her eyes. “Where do you think you’re going to?” “It’s none of your business, mum,” I respond rudely and she scuffs. “You can talk to you wife however you please, buy don’t you dare talk like some spoiled brat to me,” mum warns and I sigh. “I’m returning to Puerto Rico,” I announce, and she chuckles. “You’re joking, right?” Lillian asks. I scuff. “Elizabeth needs me and I can’t believe I let her go because of you.” My words don’t come off as a surprise to Lillian. “You’ve always loved her, haven’t you?” Lillian asks and I scuff. “Yes, I have. But I was just too blind to see it,” I respond, and my mother doesn’t like my words. She walks up to me and slaps me across the face. She never liked Elizabeth from the very first day I introduced her. My mother has always been picky and judgmental about people. “I forbid you from going to see that woman ever again,” she states and I don’t pay her an attention. “I am going, mother.” “Then you must go with your fiancée!” she demands, and I refuse. My mother, stubborn as ever, insists that I go with Lillian. I try to convince her otherwise, but she doesn’t listen. “If you insist on leaving my house to go visit your ex-wife, you must go with Lillian and I want you both to fix your relationship before you set foot here ever again,” mother declares and I scuff. Lilian, realizing that my mother is on her side, dashes up to the bedroom. She returns a few minutes later; her tears gone, her hair packed perfectly into a bun and her make up retouched. “Lillian. I expect you to apologize to my son and make sure you win back his heart. He loves you and Elizabeth,” mum says and I scuff. I walk out of the house to stop a cab, and Lillian joins me outside the house shortly. “Richie, I am truly sorry.” “Don’t talk to me until you return every single penny you stole from my company,” I inform and step into the cab, which stopped for us. “To the airport please,” I announce to the driver and Lillian gets into the cab just before it zooms off to the airport.
