Mr. CEO – You’re Dumped Chapter 43 – Trail Day Elizabeth’s P.O.V The voice of Amelia cuts my short night's rest short, calling my name to wake up. I toss and turn on my bed, begging for more sleep, but Amelia is stubborn and won’t leave my bedroom until she is sure I am fully awake and not still dozing off. “Princesse, wake up already,” she whispers in my ear. I look up at her for a moment and quickly bury my head under a pillow so that I wouldn’t hear what she is saying. Her voice is still echoing in my head and I would do anything right now for her to stop. “Elizabeth Mondragon!” she calls with so such authority and I kick my legs against my bed before raising my head up to face her. “Its improper to wake a Mondragon you up when she clearly still wants some sleep,” I declare. Amelia chuckles. “And it’s improper for a Mondragon to be in bed by 10am.” I stretch my body and yawn like a roaring lion. Amelia giggles and helps me up on my feet. “Why would you wake me up so early?” I ask her. My question comes rather as a shock to her. “We are supposed to meet with the new lawyer Barrister Stones told us about this morning,” she announces, but I still do not know what she is talking about. “Andrews court hearing is today, few hours from now,” she adds and my eyes widen in sudden realization of what she is talking about. “I can’t believe I forgot,” I sigh, and she chuckles gently. “I understand. It's not every day that you have to go on your younger brother's trail in court for the murder of your parents.” I stare at Amelia. Her words obviously angered me, and she was aware of that. “I’m really sorry about that Elizabeth, I didn’t mean to,” she pleads and I sigh. “Its fine. I’ll meet you downstairs in thirty minutes. I need to get ready,” I inform her and she takes her leave. I stare at the roof for a moment too soon and I the thought of Andrew walking down into the courtroom with handcuffs makes my heart ache. “Andrew is innocent,” I whisper and proceed to take a shower and get ready for the rest of our plans for the day. ********** I walk down the stairs and find Luke waiting for me. He looks anxious and I wonder why. Who am I kidding? It is obviously because of Andrews’ trial today which none of us are prepared for. “Hey Lizzie? How are you doing?” I take a deep breath. “I haven’t fainted so far, so yes, I’m good.” He extends an arm forward and helps me descend the rest of the downstairs. The Estate is rather noisy that usual. And there are police officers and soldiers everywhere. “What the hell is going on, Luke?” “The cops came to take Andrew to the station.” “What? Why would they do that? I thought we agreed he would be under house arrest?” I utter, and Luke stops walking toward the study room. “Yes, they know about that, but they told me the court requested that Andrew come from the station, so he has to spend a few hours behind bars before his trail,” Luke responds. “Well, that sucks,” I mutter, and he forces a smile to his lips. “So I know why the house is crawling with law enforcement agencies. But what’s with all the noise outside the estate?” I ask him again. He nudges me to continue walking as we continue our journey to the study room, which is where I presume Andrew is waiting for us. “Well, the press found out about the cops coming here to take Andrew to the station, so now they want pictures and statements and all that crap,” Luke informs and we walk into the study room. Andrew and Amelia sit with General Scout and Officer Brooke. Major Landon stands guard behind Andrew with one other soldier whose name I do not know, but I’m sure is a member of my brother's team. “Hey Elizabeth, I figured it would be hard for us to get through the swarm of reporters outside the estate so I informed the lawyer to just meet us at the station,” Amelia announces, not sparing me a moment to even adjust to the tense atmosphere. “Good morning Miss. Mondragon, I am glad that neither you nor Andrew attempted to leave country,” Officer Brooke jokes, but none of us laugh at it. “You’re here to have my brother arrested and you think the best way to greet me is by joking about it?” I question him sternly, and he coughs to clear his throat. “My apologies Miss. Mondragon. I didn’t intend to sound rude. We will be on our way now and hope to see you at court shortly,” he apologies and claps his hands twice in the air. It is only a matter of seconds and Andrew is being escorted out of the Estate with officers blocking his face from the million camera flashes of reporters who hope to get a photo of a Mondragon in handcuffs. “Carlin wants to see you,” Amelia whispers into my ear and leads me to my office, where my cousin is waiting for me. “What do you want, Carlin?” She chuckles. “For someone who needs all the help she can get right now to ensure her brother doesn’t go to jail, you’ve got a terrible attitude.” “If you’ve come to laugh at me, you can do that maybe after the hearing is over,” I snort. “Look, I’m here to make you an offer and nothing more. I recall where Andrew was on the day of your parents' death. We actually went out together that fateful day,” Carlin confesses, and I don’t believe her at first. “Why are you telling me this now?” I ask her and she giggles yet again. “Because Andrew is my favorite cousin and I honestly like him more than you and Luke. He doesn’t deserve to go to jail,” Carlin declares, her words sounding so sincere and pure, but if there’s one thing about us Mondragon’s, there’s always a catch. “What’s in it for you?” I ask her. “And alas, she is finally speaking like a Mondragon. Just get me a date with that friend of yours… I believe his name is Richard. I haven’t seen him around for a while.” “Why not do that yourself?” “Like I said, haven’t seen him around in a while and I lost his phone number. Just do it and I’ll be testify in Andrews defense,” Carlin responds and walks out of my office.
