The final judgement

Mr. CEO – You’re Dumped Chapter 51 – The Final Judgment Elizabeth’s P.O.V An attorney is called up to the podium by Barrister Armando. This is the very opportunity we needed to win the case. He holds the recording of Carlin’s confession in his hands. Determined to win the case. The smile on his face assures me he is fully aware of what to do at this point. I was not allowed to speak after the incident with Carlin last time, as that could cost us the case. “Your honor, I would love to call on Miss Carlin Mondragon,” Attorney Salvador requests. Barrister Armando considers this for a moment, probably because of how I reacted the last time she was called up as a witness. Uncle Constantine stares at me for a moment, unsure of what we had planned, but he knows it is not in his favor. “Very well,” he responds. Carlin stands to her feet, adjusts her skirt and proceeds to the witness box. The evidence we have could be used to prosecute her, but I didn’t want to do that. I just want my brother's name cleared from the charges against him, and then I can focus on reclaiming my father’s company from Uncle Constantine. “Miss. Carlin Mondragon, during the last trial you never really answered the question you were asked,” Attorney Salvador declares and there’s a little uproar among the crowd. Barrister Armando hits his gavel, ordering them to be silent and allow Attorney Salvador to continue. “Miss. Carlin, if you would,” he says. Attorney Michael stands to his feet, hoping to get Carlin out of a mess they created. “Your honor, my client is being forced to say things against her will and she answered my questions during the first hearing,” he declares. Barrister Armando ignores him. “Miss. Carlin, I apologize for that. What I meant was, who were you with on the day Mr. and Mrs. Roberto Mondragon were murdered?” Attorney Salvador asks. His question surprised Carlin. She looks around the courtroom, hoping to find Richard, as he is the only one she told that to, but he is not here. She lies. “I was with my boyfriend. We went to see a movie together.” “And you want this honorable court to believe you’re telling us the truth?” Attorney Salvador asks her again. She nods her head in approval. “Yes, I am.” Leaving Carlin still standing at the witness box, Attorney Salvador turns his attention to Andrew. “General Andrew, can you tell this honorable court who you were with on the very day your parents died? Tell us the truth and nothing but the truth,” Attorney Salvador declares. Andrew takes a deep breath. “I was on my way to get a drink and met my cousin Carlin crying by the Estate doorstep.” “What happened after that?” Attorney Salvador asks. “I asked her what was wrong, which she refused to tell me at first, but after much persuasion; she told me her boyfriend broke up with her,” Andrew responds and his words seem to shake Carlin. At the moment, it is still a battle of her words against his until we bring out our trump card. Attorney Salvador takes a moment to ponder on Andrews’ Words. “After she told me why she was sad. What happened?” he asks again. “I offered to keep her company, and we both went to the beach together and relaxed a bit. That was where we heard about my parent's death,” Andrew informs the court. There is silence for a moment. “Miss. Carlin Mondragon, is General Andrew saying the truth?” Attorney Salvador asks. “No, he is lying,” she responds. Her denial infuriates me, but I have to remain silent if we truly want to win this case. “With all we’ve heard so far, will the Judge permit me to bring in the only evidence we have for this case?” Attorney Salvador asks no one in particular, yet referring to Barrister Armando. “The court gives you its approval,” Barrister Armando responds. Attorney Salvador brings out Richard’s phone, which he holds with him. He takes it to Barrister Armando to go through and then raises the phone high in the air for everyone to see. He plays the recording from Carlin’s date with Richard. Everyone is astonished by the words they hear. Uncle Constantine, more especially, is stunned by our evidence. He looks at Carlin, his eyes filled with rage. He is disappointed that she lets her guard down. “This has to be some sort of mistake,” Carlin yells, nearly breaking down in tears. “You said you were with your boyfriend when all this happened, yet this is a recording of you admitting the truth. How dare you lie to the court?” Attorney Salvador’s voice is now cold and louder. “This is nonsense, your honor!” Attorney Michael stands to his feet once more to defend Carlin, but Barriers Armando doesn’t listen. “For the last time, Miss. Carlin, who were you with when Mr. and Mrs. Roberto died? Your next words could be used to prosecute, so mind what you say!” Attorney Salvador yells and everyone is silent. Carlin sobs quietly. Tears can now be seen flooding her eyes, but she tries her best to HOLD them back. I stand to my feet. Barrister Armando looks at me and I fight back the urge to yell at my over dramatic cousin. Luke touches my hand softly and gently pulls me down to my seat. Attorney Salvador drops the phone on Barrister Stone's desk and bows his head. “That will be all, your honor.” He returns to his seat in front of me, a smile on his lips. Barrister Armando disappears for a moment and there is an uproar of chattering among the citizens who came to witness the trial of my brother. A lot of them seem disappointed with the evidence we produced, as it was likely going to set Andrew free. After a moment of waiting, Barrister Armando returns to the courtroom and everyone stands to his their feet until he is seated. “With the evidences produced today before the court, I Barrister Armando has passed my final judgement and General Andrew Mondragon is found not guilty of the murder charge against him.” Mr. CEO – You’re Dumped Chapter 51 – The Final Judgment Elizabeth’s P.O.V Attorney is called up to the podium by Barrister Armando.
