(Faith's P.O.V.)
I stared at Frank's curious face. He's asking me the reason why I wanted to move out. He knows very well that I have a good apartment in Narra Subdivision. He was one of the people who helped me find that house.
He'd know very well that it was the perfect place.
What do I tell him without telling the real reason?
"My neighbor's dog is loud."
I couldn't think of anything else. My neighbor's dog is a Chihuahua. He barks a lot, but it's not really a problem because he's not that heard because of his size. Frank knows nothin' about my neighbors.
I'm sure he won't notice it.
"You're moving because of a dog?" he repeated. I nodded my head confidently. Frank smiled. "You can just ask your neighbor to make his dog quiet, Faith."
"I tried. Nothing happened."
He pouted his lips. "Then, let me talk to your neighbor then." I shook my head immediately. He's so stubborn it will cause me to get caught.
"It's for the better, Frank. We've been dealing with it for a long time. You know that I havea triplets. I don't want them to grow up hearing that sound come from my neighbor's dog."
He yielded a sigh.
"Is the dog big?"
It's a Chihuahua.
"Yes."
He nodded his head.
"So, why were you raising your voice with Cara. It seemed like you were having a misunderstanding."
I bite my lips sheepishly. His eyes went down there.
"I wanted to move fast, but Cara said it could take a week. I can't wait any longer than a day."
"Because?"
"We haven't been sleeping well, Frank. That dog ruins our sleep. Who knows what a disturbed sleep can do in the long run? I also don't want to move because the house is special, but you know me. I would always choose what's best for my children."
I already feel like a fatass liar with everything I'm saying right now. Who am I kidding about a Chihuahua being big?
Frank sighed. "Okay. If it's really urgent, then I will give you my house in the Green Hills," he said. My lips parted. Nope. I'm not accepting that.
"You know that I never accept such gifts like that, Frank."
He smiled at me.
"It's not a gift. It's a reward for bringing so much success to this company. You know that I owe my success to you, right?"
I looked at my hand that he touched on the table. He squeezed it lightly.
"Faith..."
Should I accept it?
If I accept it, I don't have to worry about my problem. I'm really targeting Green Hills because of its security. I'm sure that no one can harm us there even werewolves.
Not even him...
"But Frank—"
"Faith."
He gave me a warning look. A look that tells you that you can't win from him. I'm sure that he's going to insist about the whole reward thing.
It would help me big time.
But he helped me a lot already. I need to stop accepting help from him.
I was in the middle of hesitating to accept his offer when his phone rang. He excused himself from me and answered the call.
"Hello?"
Do I accept his offer?
What if everyone thinks that I'm just using him. I don't Frank for his money. In fact, I've been rejecting him, but he's the one who keeps insisting.
"Yes, you're right. This is Frank Constantine. How can I help you?"
I glanced at Frank. He's now wearing a crumpled face. There's a line forming in between his eyes.
"You're looking for Faith?" He looked at me. My brows raised. Who could be looking for me? "Yes. She's here with me."
I gave him a questioning look, asking who could be the caller. He just shrug his shoulders and mouthed that he will put the phone in speaker.
"He wants to talk to you."
He put the phone on the desk and I saw the Stronghold Corporation CEO's number on the screen.
[Good afternoon, Miss Williams. I'm sorry for calling you indirectly. We would just like to invite you in an upcoming event.]
I froze hearing a very familiar voice. It's still as deep and scary like the last time I heard it. I can't be wrong.
This is Drake.
[Miss Williams?]
H—He's back.
He survived what I did to him.
I winced when I felt something touched my hand. I looked at Frank's hand on top of mine.
"Is something wrong?" he asked.
My eyes widened. I looked at his cellphone nervously. I pulled my hand away from him. I think Drake heard that. There's a dead silence in his phone, but I know he heard that.
I can sense his anger.
He's always been possessive and I know he wouldn't like to know that a human guy is taking care of me.
[On behalf of the Stronghold Corporation, I am inviting you to join us in our new engineering project on Green Hills Subdivision.]
My eyes grew big.
He knows about the Green Hills.
"Yes!" Frank mouthed excitedly. He looked at me. "I'm so proud of you." I stared at him.
You don't know what you're saying, Frank. This man is the reason for all my suffering. He ruined me. He played me like a toy. He used me.
"Thank you for your trust, Mister Anderson. We really appreciate you reaching out to us like this. I'm sure that Faith will not let such a golden opportunity like this to slip."
The person I'm hoping to save me from this freak is the one bringing me in like bait. There's no way I can't refuse this offer in front of Frank. He'll surely get upset.
This is Drake's final warning.
He gave me the letter, and he knew about my plan on moving to another place in a short span of time.
He has so many connections and he knows exactly how to use them.
I could get in danger if I refused him.
He's still as ruthless like the last time I saw him.
I gulped when Frank looked at me happily. He looks genuinely excited for the new project.
"T—Thank you for this wonderful opportunity, Mister Anderson. However, because of the project we just finished recently, I'm going to have to ask for a preparation time."
I tried so hard not to stutter, but I failed. It's so hard to sound confident and brave when my dark memories of him are flashing in my head.
[That's good to hear, Miss Williams. We are more than happy to work with a talented architect like you.]
I can sense the playfulness in his voice, but not Frank who looks genuinely happy with the agreement with the Stronghold's CEO.
I gasped a breath right after the call ended.
H—He's here.
He knows where I am.
He's watching me!
"Frank?" I called. He looked at me with and smiled brightly. "About the reward that you wanted to give me..." He nodded his head and put his phone down. "I want to go to a vacation before I start my project with the Stronghold's CEO."
He raised his brows. I was never the type to ask for a break. He knows me for being competitive at work, so I immediately supported my request.
"I've been thinking about giving myself a break for a while now. You know that I've been busy with work especially with the previous project. I haven't been bonding with my children."
Frank nodded his head and smiled.
I knew he'd agree right away the moment I mention the triplets.
But the truth is I'm escaping again.
I don't care if it's impossible.
The important is to hide the triplets from the Alpha.
