Chapter 13

Mia's POV

I ran. I didn't know which way, but I ran. Soon, I reached pack borders. I spotted the patrol and hid behind a tree. When they aren't watching, I'll shift into my wolf and I'll sprint in the opposite direction. That's what I am planning for.

After half an hour, I heard a sound through the bushes. I instantly panicked. Is Jaxon already coming for me? s**t! What do I do now?

But to my goodness, the patrol moved that way to see what that was. I took that as my queue and shifted mid air running for my life. The moment I crossed the border Lacy whined, unable to bear the distance between her and her mate.

"I'm sorry Lace!" I whispered.

"No! That's ok. Even though Mason loves me, I want Jaxon to love you as well "

"You are the best wolf Lace!" I screamed at her in happiness.

"We are One! Now give me control and sit back. I'll take you somewhere"

And with that, I gave all my control to Lacy and sat back watching what she was doing. She howled loud and sprinted a bit faster dodging the lower branches and breaking the twigs. Everything passed by a blur and Lace is still not satisfied with the speed. She stopped for a moment and sniffed the air. She gave a wolfy grin and started running at double the speed that I was afraid of the first time.

"Just sleep Mia! I got this"

She then let me sleep since I needed rest. Without any hesitation I slept wanting the rest.

"Mia! Mia, wake up!!!"

I woke up from my sleep and looked around. I was still in the woods. But I'm not sure if this is Rogue's territory or a pack. If it's a pack then the Alpha might contact Jaxon and give me back to him. And while I was in thoughts, Lace gave the control back to me and I shifted back. I wore the spare clothes I bought with me and moved forward.

I walked for 5 minutes and reached a pack's border. Before I turned back and ran, a man caught my shoulder from running. By his Aura he may be the Beta of the pack. He is in his teens, maybe. But beta in teens? What the f**k is this pack?

"I am no threat. Leave me and I'll never come back" I said, raising my hands in surrender.

"Will let you leave when our Alpha tells us. First, meet him. You aren't a rogue. I can sense it. So you'll not have any problem here. Trust me. Our Alpha is so kind." He smiled and that's when I saw dimples. He is cute.

We both started walking for what seemed like an hour. Then reached the pack house which is large but not as large as Blood Moon pack house. For some reason, Lacy is smirking and I seriously don't know why. The beta gestured for me to walk in with him and I followed not wanting to anger him.

"Wait here. I mindlinked our Alpha and he is on his way." He said and I nodded. Suddenly, a familiar scent engulfed me, making me smile like crazy.

"Hey" I heard his voice from behind me and I turned around instantly. I ran up to him and into his awaiting arms. I felt safe. I am safe. I don't have to worry now. I am safe and I am away from Jaxon.

"What makes you visit me this sudden? Everything's fine?" he asked me, pulling away from the hug to look at me.

"You will be proud if I say that I tried to reject him and ran away," I whispered, which made Nick hug me again. I rested my head against his chest while his chin was on my head. He whispered that it was ok and he won't let Jaxon know I'm here.

We pulled away when we heard someone clear their throat.

"Oh! Mia.. meet my beta Aaron. And Aaron, she is Mia. My.. best friend,” Nick introduced us to each other and he smiled towards me with a nod. A gesture to say hello since physical contact with High ranked wolves isn't appropriate.

"Come, let me show you your room since you'll live with me from now on," Nick said walking while holding my hand.

"And, Mia.. how many days can you survive without your mate?" He asked me while I was still walking.

"Maybe a couple of years. And then, we start getting weaker. Just like slow poison. But I am not going to regret Nick. This is better than to live with him" I shrugged, making him smile.

"Hey, who are you and what did you do to my Mia?" He asked me playfully, wiggling his eyebrows. I swatted his arm, making us both chuckle.

He then showed me my room which was pretty good. Now I know why Lace was happy. She knows she brought me here. You're the best Lacy!

I sat on the bed beside the window and looked outside. This pack is beautiful. Probably greener than Jaxon's. And Nick is doing incredibly good. I understood it when I heard Aaron's words. I am happy. And I am glad I am safe. Please Moon Goddess! Don't let Jaxon come to me. Please!

I tried to distract myself from his thoughts. I watched a few kids playing around the pack house. They were so cute. I always loved kids. They are blessings of the moon goddess. And bundles of happiness.

"Mate!"

His voice rang in my head, making me jerk and bolt up. No, this can't happen. He can't mindlink me. I left the pack. Mindlink isn't possible now, is it?

"I am coming for you mate. Wait for me"

And with that, I can hear him smirking. My heart started racing miles per hour. He doesn't know I am here. He can't. Oh No!
