This man is your uncle.

1098 Words
We where one street away from my house. And I had a ton of questions to ask this man. "Wait, you never told me how you know my mother. Are you guys friends from college?" I asked that but his facial features said that he was not older than I am but hey, with all the magic in the air, it was not impossible for people to look my age and actually be my mom's age or worse... Well, to my good luck, Ronald ignored me and kept moving without a word. I was not about to give up. "Or perhaps you guys met a wedding ? Or you have a mutual friend? Or maybe you met at the supermarket... then became fast friends?" He stopped in front of my house and said " Are you always this much of a busybody (person who is curious about other people's business)?" I ignored that then said, "At least tell me how you know where I live!" I shouted because he was already opening the door and entering our house without knocking first. I mean who does that?! I rushed through the driveway and opened the door using a bit of force leaving the door open. " Hey!! Do you know how rude it is to just enter someone's door without knock-ing." My eyes almost fell out. My mother was in that guy's embrace! What was happening?! " Good morning mom." I said cautiously firstly because I went to a party without telling her and now because she was giving me the look. "Good morning honey." She replied as she gracefully moved away from Ronald. " Now apologize to him for your outburst." She ordered and I mean ordered me to apologize. An apology? I needed an explanation, who is this guy and why was my mom hugging him?! Though I would never share thoughts like that with my mother because she would kill me for sure. So I simply used my number one trick, a cute and innocent face. " What do you mean, mother?" I said as I batted my eyelids. " Do not make me repeat myself, Lala (my pet name). I am going to treat your sister so apologize." She turned and walked towards my sister's room. When she got to the door I stopped her. " Wait, mom! Is it serious?" I asked anxiously " No, not really. With your sister's level, that poison is child's play." She said with a smirk, I loved how she was proud of the powers my sister had. She would brag without hiding anything despite the fact that witches are public enemy number 1 whereever werewolves were. " Alright." I said as I felt relieved. Then I saw Ronald looking at me like I am some kind of a show with a small amused smile. "Can I help you sir?" I asked coldly. I was not about to play with this stranger whom I saw my mother hugging. " Ronald." He said and I figured he wanted me to address him using his name instead of sir. I feigned ignorance, " Pardon?" " My name, you know the name you wanted earlier when you wanted to tell me that I was rude? Remember?" Now the guy had the biggest smirk ever, like he had won something. I stopped breathing because my mother had already said I should apologize for addressing Ronald inappropriately earlier, what would happen now if she knows this too?! I prayed silently hoping that she did not hear what he said. " Aria!!" My mother shouted from my sister room and oh, boy she sounded mad. One thing about my mother, she places great importance on respecting elders and superiors. She actually grilled it into my sister and I from a young age that we should always address people respectfully unless they are my peers of course coz she knows that then, I would not. " Y-yes, mommy?" I said with my eyes closed " What do I always say to you guys?" She said. I knew it, she wants me to say her respect slogan. I exhaled with my eyes closed ready to scream at the top of my lungs and say my mom's favorite slogan about respect. " RESPECT TAKES YOU A LONG WAY. NO MATTER YOUR SPECIES OR ORIGIN, RESPECT IS KEY." I must say I looked very cute reciting the words with my eyes round and big. I even forgot my injuries and clapped my hands which made me wince. " Good girl, that's my lala." I heard my mom say. On the other hand, Ronald was laughing so hard, he was holding his stomach with both his hands. " I am glad I have been a good sport and kept you entertained." I whispered sarcastically. He did not stop laughing, in fact it was like my words amused him more. I decided to let him be and walked to the lounge and slouched into the soft fluffy chair, my favorite chair. I looked up and saw that he was still wiping away tears from all the laughing. " Am I that funny?" I snapped thenquickly covered my mouth and looked in the direction of my sister's room. He chuckled and said, " I can't figure you out." " Well, that is not your job to do." I snapped " I suppose but you change your facial expressions so fast and it makes for a good show to watch." " Don't you have something better to do?" Okay, I said this louder than intended and my mom must have heard this. " I'd watch your little mouth if I were you." He said with a smirk " And why is that?"I asked in a cheeky manner " Because...." He said but did not finish his sentence when my mother said something. " Aria, I was going to wait for your sister to wake up before telling you this but since your behavior needs some remodelling I will said it now." My mother said as she exited my sister's room to fetch tweezers from the first aid kit. "Oh no, Mom are you remarrying?" I accidentally said the first thing that was on my mind which led Ronald into another series of laughter. " What? No. This man is your uncle from your paternal and I do not need to teach you how you should behave when speaking to him right?" My mother said in a stern voice. Sigh, I blew it. I gave my uncle a bad impression from the get go.
