Chapter 4

Thomas’ POV “WHAT?!” How? Taking a proper sniff in the air he smells the sweet smell of sparkles as strong as cinnamon blowing into your nose. How could he have missed this!? “Run” Charlie whispers but this Donatelle woman just stares at her. “You and I are going to have our chat later missy!” she says and it sounds like it’s not going to be a good one. He doesn't want to be in her shoes later. I am grabbed by two guys who don’t look as strong as they are and taken out of the bar to the police station cells. It all looks so normal and it smelled so normal… How the hell didn’t I catch the scent?! Oh, f**k! Selena told me one day about pixie magic! They look exactly like fairies, but they are the complete opposite. They are cruel, rude, and always up to tricks. That is the reason you don’t smell their magic until you step right in it! “Are you pixies huh?” I ask the guys locking me up. The one turning back smirks at me just confirming my suspicions. I landed myself in a pixie town, f*****g great. Nobody from the pack knows where I am, I left the love of my life, the only one I am physically and emotionally pulled towards with every breath in my body and that just to be taken prisoner by PIXIES!! Lucille’s POV Looking for Thomas’s scent around the area again we find wolf prints turning into human footprints going right into the town. “Would he be that stupid?!” I ask the boys. You can clearly smell the magic. They both nod. “What, he spent most of his life as a human.” Brian defends. “Surely he would smell the magic,” I say. “Not if you are withdrawing from Selena’s blood at the rate he is.” David reminds her. “We won’t be able to enter the town without major repercussions. We need to return to the castle and send an official invitation for discussions.” “But we know he is there. Can’t we just walk in and ask for our friend back?” Brian growls “No, this is magic, not wolf fights. This is why we try to keep you guys stronger than normal wolves and trained all the time. I wish Selena had explained this to all of you. We have to return. Now!” Billy's POV After the wolves hanging around their borders, Donella asked him to arrange patrols. There had been a vampire with two new wolf scents and it didn’t make sense at first. Donella spoke to the willow tree who told her about a century’s old coven of female vampires that kept male wolves as their guards. Imagine that! Disgusting half-bloods! With all the movement we were on alert, someone was going to come looking for that wolf. Billy spits to one side, disgusted at the thought of him just being in their town. He is probably the one that hurt Charlie. Charlie! Could she be in cahoots with them?! Donella is going to break Charlie to find out! The stupid girl should have kept out of all of it instead of trying to play hero! Donella’s POV Donella: “Come in Charlie. Sit down.” the guard helps her in any case. Her challenging look stuck on that young face, but I will have her crying in a couple of minutes. I haven’t been Queen for so long because I’m popular. I stay standing knowing this will put me in a more authoritative and intimidating position. I love using this tactic but don’t often get the chance to. Donella “You have been found guilty of using fairy dust in front of another species; Using such fairy dust without proper permission; Possession of illegal fairy dust; and Aiding a wolf in trying to hide from your people. How do you plea?” Charlie “Guilty on charge one; Not guilty on charge two, three, and four.” Her hard-headedness keeps shining through. Donella “That’s impossible! You were found in possession of the fairy dust! How else would you have gotten your hands on it, if you didn’t take it out of the vaults without permission?!” Charlie “It was a gift from my grandmother. She left it to me when I was three years old and she passed away; So using it without the proper permission and possession of illegal fairy dust are both bogus complaints!” Donella “They is no such thing! It would be registered in her possession notice of her death.” Charlie “And have you even checked the notice, Donella?” Donella “What about number four! You aided the wolf! Hid him in the bar when everyone was out looking for him!” Charlie “I did no such thing. Just because he was there does not mean I helped him. He showed up and demanded a drink. You can ask him if you don’t believe me, but I know you won’t believe him because he is such a stupid wolf, he actually walked into the bar! The bar was full and he stood in the dark corner waiting until everyone left and I locked up. Scared the s**t out of me when he demanded a glass of water.” Donella “Can you prove this?” She says between gritted teeth, knowing this little nitwit had just outsmarted her. Charlie “As a matter of fact, I can. Billy recently put up cameras in the bar. I can ask him to show you the video footage.” Donella “Why were you there?” Charlie “Where?” Donella “Where the wolves were and you were injured? What were you doing there?” Hoping if I change tactics, I can catch her out. Charlie “I was curious. I shouldn’t have gone, I know that now, but I had never seen a werewolf before and I was stupid enough to think I could hang around the back somewhere and see what they looked like.” Charlie’s POV Lying through my teeth on the last one, of course, I was hoping that Donella didn’t notice. The rest of it I was telling her the truth, not the entire truth maybe, but still the truth. She gives me her “Lie-detector” stare, where she tries to scare you into admitting to the charges, but I just sit there blinking my eyes at her. Donella “You are dismissed for now! I will let you know the outcome.” Meaning she doesn’t have any evidence to show to the council and to then have me locked up. Her scare tactics didn’t work on me. They never have. My family and hers have always been on different sides of the coin. I stand up to leave and gasp at the pain, grabbing my ribs. “Donella “You are supposed to be in the hospital!” Charlie “No, I’m not! I don’t know what any of you are talking about. You all overreacted. Honestly!” Trying my utmost best to walk normal, I leave her office with a smile on my face, in the direction of the holding cells. I already have my defense ready. “I wanted to look at the wolf who injured me in the eyes. I wanted to ask the wolf why me? Why he came to the bar after hurting me? And so on.” More than enough to keep anyone busy if they have any questions about me seeing Thomas. Lucille’s POV The run home is very tiring and we stay in the cave again during daylight for that one day when we can’t find a shady spot. Vampires aren’t supposed to get tired, but my legs almost give in when we reach the castle and Brian grabs me just in time to carry me bridal style back to my room. Selena a step behind him. Selena “What happened? Is she going to be okay? Did she gets injured?” Brian “I’m not sure, is being tired normal for a vampire?” Selena “No, not at all!” Brian “Then something seriously went wrong. She has been complaining about feeling tired for the last couple of hours and scarcely made it back here.” Selena “Did she feed at all when you were away?” Brian “NO, she didn’t!” I hear her order me a girl to be brought so I can drink from her and restore my energy. In circumstances like these, it’s usually best to have fresh blood right from the source, but I can’t! Pushing them away, I try to show them I can’t. David “Yes she did, she was in such pain with the burns, and taking forever to heal…” Brian “David tell me you didn’t let her feed?” David “I let her feed on me. She was suffering and I couldn’t let her suffer any longer. She didn’t say that anything would happen.” Selena “Yes she wouldn’t because of her pain! Didn’t anyone ever teach this i***t that the blood that runs in his veins contains vampire blood as well!” Brian “No mistress, it seems that part of his training was skipped! David, our blood contains that of Selena, vampires can’t drink vampire blood, pure it turns them to stone, diluted like we carry, well…we don’t know, I think.” Selena “We don’t know, you are right Brian. We will have to wait it out and see what happens. What news of Thomas?” After that I let the darkness take me. I know the boys will f**k up telling her what happened but as soon as she hears pixie, she will know what happened. Selena’s POV Selena “What do you mean you followed rogues in a circle?” David “I was following Thomas’ scent and it turned sharply and we ran past a tree where I found his scent mixed with that of rogues.” Brian “Yeah, but by the looks of it he was running from them, he swam through the river and shifted on the other side like he always does to hide.” David “Yes, we followed all the scents to a point where Lucille smelled magic. The three scents split up and we followed Thomas’” Brian “When we got to the end of it, we found the rogue scents again.” Selena “Wait, what? You ran clear across the country?” Brian “It sure felt like it, but no, it was all in a territory nearby.” Selena “Oh brother!” David “They were following Thomas again so we followed them. We found them outside a small town and killed them before they could do anything to Thomas.” Brian “Yeah, Lucille was worried that they would harm him or even worse kill him.” David “Then something strange happened.” Brian “Yes, mistress, that is why we came back, Lucille said something about magic. I sit up straight. If Thomas had run into magic lands it could only mean trouble! Brian “I think Lucille said Pixies and that she needed to talk to you, something about not fighting and doing things differently.” Selena “Brian are you sure she said pixies?” Brian “Yes, I’m sure.” I feel the adrenaline run through my cold veins. Pixies are tricksters. You have to be so careful using words, they will tie you in knots and lock you up using your own words against you. “Moon goddess, please heal Lucille. I need more information. I know I sound selfish, but please, I need more information.” I sit next to Lucille’s bed, holding her hand in mine leaning my head against them. It feels like all is lost. I am never going to get my Thomas back, even if he wanted to come back. Charlie’s POV “I need to use the bathroom. Do you two gorillas mind? Or would you like to watch me pee?” I spit venom at the two guards Donella sent with me. I have to find a way to get down to the cells to see the wolf, Thomas. I know there is a “hidden” passage from the city council building that runs through to the court and the prison. If I can only get there without these two findings out until I am actually in the tunnel. I don’t know exactly where the entrance is. I just have a general idea of where and I will have to take into account my broken ribs. Climbing on the toilet, I look out the open window and see the steel ladder next to it going up to the roof… It’s gonna hurt like hell!
