Chapter 5

Selena’s POV He hates me. I would rather he leave me than stay in the hands of Pixies! Pacing up and down in my chambers, I need to decide carefully on who to send and what needs to be said. They can’t know he is our Alpha! That part is certain. What am I go8ing to do?! Flopping down on the bed with my hands in my hair I feel lost. Lucille is still recovering and not able to tell me what happened. We can’t waste too much time when it comes to these creatures. They will take it as a sign of weakness or believe he is a lone wolf and have him executed before we can even do anything! I need to speak to someone who can give me honest answers and at the moment there is only one person who will do that. Thomas’ POV Fuck! Can I do nothing without that damn vampire at my side! I am dragged into a dungeon and into a cell where a female is standing sneering at me. Cloe “Welcome wolf!” Thomas “Yeah, I’ve heard that one before. Ah well, do your best. I escaped from my last captor and killed her…” Stupid i***t, I think to myself… admit to the fact that you are easy prey! With Selena’s blood drained from your system by now, you have no strength. You probably look like the school nerd who has never seen the inside of a gym. Chloe “Well now, a beautiful specimen, and then you have a mouth on you as well. I am going to enjoy this. I am going to enjoy this very much. Hang him.” She nods at the guards and leaves the room. My wrists are cuffed and the cuffs hooked onto a chain. They lift the chain in the air, making me hang two feet off the ground, laughing while they see the pain on my face. It’s pain first, burning pain second and then numbness. Charlie’s POV “Why on earth did I think I could climb with these ribs!” I say out loud, forgetting that I am trying to make a quick getaway. Up is not exactly going down to the tunnel, but at least I’m out the bathroom and almost on the roof without the guards noticing I’m gone yet. Once I reach the roof I look down at the town. “Now what Charlie? You have nowhere else to go!” The stairs simply lead to the top of the roof and there was no other way but right back down to the bathroom… Now I had to move my arse so they wouldn’t find out I was trying to escape… Not knowing which is worse the climb up or down, I reach the window and slide inside, just as the guard smashes the door open. Flushing the toilet. “Sheesh, dude!” I walk out the stall to the basin to wash my hands. “You would think I was gone the way you just barged in! I will have to tell Donella how you invade the privacy of females!” I shoulder him on my way out, huffing when we walk down the passage again. Reaching the front door, they walk out the door with me and come to a standstill in front of the door as if making sure I won’t walk back in. “Really? Whatever.” I walk away and decide to go to my flat and work on a plan first. Maybe grab something to eat at the pub and talk to Billy on the way. Thomas’ POV I didn’t have to wait long for the interrogation to start. That sneering female was back a couple of minutes after the guards left. Chloe “Well, well, well. I have had many species to interview. But never have I had the pleasure of speaking to a half breed wolf.” Walking around me with that damn sneer on her face. Imagine… “Interview” … keep fooling yourself girl. She is dressed in a tight-fitting leather skirt and leather boots up to her knees. She must spend a lot of time on her feet by the look of her boots, the soles worn and scuffed. A tight leather shirt tied together at her navel. The buttons seem long gone. Thomas “Pretty dress little girl. I guess leather would be the better choice. No washing needed right?” I’m so tired of these girls who think they are bad girls. I sigh, apparently infuriating her. Earning me a swift spanking with what feels like a horsewhip! Yup, when she comes to a standstill in front of me, it’s in her hand. Thomas “Don’t you think this is a bit overrated? I am sure you can find more comfortable clothes to wear when you are torturing people. You look like you feel so uncomfortable.” The whip hits my ribs on my right side and I gasp for air, flinching, but still keeping a smile on my face as best I can. Chloe “Ahh did that hurt, little wolf?” Thomas “What, that little bee sting? No little girl, you will have to try a lot harder than that.” Catching my breath quickly I retort to try and get her angry and see how far I can push her buttons and how she would react. No girl can or will ever torture me to breaking point. Chloe “Oh, I should try harder? I can do that.” Sneering she moves closer and starts undoing my belt when the guard knocks on the door. Chloe “f**k! Who dares interrupt my interrogation?!” “It’s your Queen Donella! Open the door, Chloe!” Her face turns pale and she moves quickly to unlock the door for Donella. Donella “Do you have any information yet?” Walking around me as if I have become the latest exhibit. Chloe “I have just started the interrogation, your Majesty.” Is it my imagination or does she look nervous? Thomas “You can torture all you want; I won’t tell you a thing!” Donella “We will see about that. Let me know of your progress.” She tells the girl on her way out and you can see her relax as soon as she can lock the door again. Pacing up and down a couple of times, she leaves the room and I hear the door lock behind her. Selena’s POV The kitchen hasn’t changed much over the years. It seems the Cook also hasn’t. Selena “Hi Cook.” Cook “Hello Selena, I was wondering when you were going to come to visit me again. How is Lucille?” Selena “Right to the point, as usual, that is why I love you so much.” Cook “No you love me because I keep your wolves strong, now stop changing the subject.” Selena “Lucille is doing better, but it will take longer than we have time for. Then Thomas has time for.” Cook “Ah, and why do you need me?” Selena “I know you don’t always agree with what I do.” Cook “Now there is an understatement.” Selena “Okay fine! But you are one of the few in my life, I know and can trust to always give me a straightforward honest answer, and you know more about Thomas than I do.” Cook “What can I do for you, my girl?” His eyes turn soft and he shows her to a seat.0 Selena “We have to, I have to send a party to the pixies to negotiate Thomas’ release before they kill him. I am concerned about who to send, which wording to use and if Thomas will even want to come back.” Fidgeting with her fingers in her lap, she looks down. Cook “Have they sent you a ransom yet?” Selena “No, so they don’t know who he is which makes it even more dangerous.” Cook “Yes, I see. Who were you thinking of sending?” Selena “I was thinking of handling this myself. I don’t trust his life in the hands of anyone else, but it will give away the importance of his life to our pack and they will use that to their advantage. The next best to send would be Brian and David.” Cook “My girl, you have been a Queen for a long time, longer than I have ever lived. It sounds to me like you have everything under control.” Selena “Thank you for your trust in me Cook, but there is one thing I still need your help with.” Charlie’s POV Walking into the bar, Billy runs up to me, smothering me in one of his famous bear hugs. Billy “Charlie girl! I thought for sure you were a goner! Are you okay?” Charlie “Ah Billy, you do care.” I pull away from him and punch him on his shoulder. Charlie “I’m fine, why wouldn’t I be?” Billy “Donella had you dragged away. Usually, nobody comes back after that!” He stands there wide-eyed and starts drawing attention. Charlie “Hey, come, let’s talk in the back before you turn me into some sort of circus attraction!” Dragging him by his arm, they walk through the kitchen out the back door. Charlie “Billy Donella had a bunch of bogus charges against me, one of which is that I hid the wolf in the bar. I need you to get that footage so I can look at it. I need to make sure; she won’t find anything that she can think makes me look guilty.” Billy “I can’t do that Charlie. That would make me just as guilty as you. You know that.” Charlie “Billy, please. She wants to hang me with this wolf and I didn’t have anything to do with him.” Tearing up slightly just for effect. Billy “Okay fine, but you look, I don’t want a part in any of this. I don’t want to hang with the wolf!” Charlie “Thank you, Billy.” Jumping to hug him, she forgets about her ribs and gasps for air. Billy “I’m taking you to the hospital!” Charlie “No you are not! I need to see those recordings” Billy “I’m just joking kid. I know once you are there you ain’t coming back anyway.” He grins at her, patting her on the back. With him, you never really knew for sure… Lucille’s POV My head hurts like hell, and my eyes feel like they were filled with sand blinking a couple of times to open them. Brian “Lucille? Honey… please open your eyes.” I hear his voice and open my eyes, but everything is blurry, and rubbing my eyes isn’t working. Lucille “Why can’t I see??!” Brian “You were injured, David gave you his blood, remember?” Lucille “Yes, but that doesn’t explain anything!” Brian “Werewolf blood…” She interrupts him. Lucille “Werewolf blood should have killed me! I was in so much pain I didn’t think straight. I was so thankful for his help. But it still doesn’t explain why I can’t see.” I start crying. Dying would have been better than being a blind vampire. Brian “Doc says it will take time, but you should make a full recovery. If it wasn’t for Selena’s mix in our blood, you would have died.” Lucille “I still can’t see!!” I start sobbing and he holds me tight. They send for Selena to let her know I’m awake. I don’t know why. Everything is so foggy, I see images pass in my mind, but they are mixed up and don’t last more than a second. Selena “Lucille honey, I’m here!” She takes my hand. Lucille “I can’t see. Why can’t I see?” Tears starting to form in my eyes. Selena “Here, drink.” I hear her bite her arm and smell the blood in front of me. Taking her arm immediately to drink. Feeling how it flows through my body healing and giving me back my energy that I thought I would never regain. Selena “There you go. Your sight should return, but it will take time. The wolf’s blood might have had some of my blood, but it also caused damage that will take time to heal. Rest now. Brian is here to look after you.” Seeing me in this state she knows she will have to decide how to handle the pixies without my input. I might be awake, but I’m not strong enough to give her the information she needs.
