Vulcan ~
She had passed out against him, his good arm hugging her closer to support her. Gently sitting them up as his hand cupped the back of her head keeping it pressed against his chest gently. She fought with so much determination and passion, with ferociousness and grace, and yet even then… she wasn’t overly cruel, she didn’t lay waste to Odette when she could have. Something was so different about her, so alluring, so vibrant, alive, and wholesome.
“Let’s get you taken care of” he whispered adoringly to her, motioning for the medics to come closer gently lowering her the best he could onto the stretcher. Maybe he shouldn’t have gone so hard, he genuinely wanted to gauge how well she would do. Standing to walk beside the stretcher to the pack hospital. Already knowing that he wouldn’t leave her side, entering the room allowing them to check her over.
“Alpha” the greying-haired doctor spoke up “allow me to pop your shoulder back in place.”
“No need pay attention to her” he growled as he snapped his own shoulder back into place.
“She is full of surprises” Sol’s voice murmured through his mind. “I have a bad feeling about what we are doing .. set the games aside claim her as your mate. Do you want her to potentially hate you when she finds out about her brothers?” He added seriously.
He chose to give his wolf the silent treatment, he had explained this over and over again. Claiming her would put her in danger, he wasn’t doing it, he wouldn’t add that onto her shoulders. And for her brothers, it was too risky to release them, the prophecy he ignored for so long now danced around his mind like a ballerina that refused to stop moving. Spinning and twisting, festering and building for a finale he could not see.
They could blame her for their imprisonment, what if they came for her? These were things he didn’t want to think about. He had gotten more info during the fight when Elias mind-linked him, the twins were five when she was born and when the small silvery birthmark matched that of the moon they took the boys and locked them away. She had no idea she had brothers, what she didn’t know wouldn’t kill her? Right?
“Fine ignore me” Sol growled.
“I’ve warned you, she is our mate, she isn’t just Luna material, she carries the soul of a queen, her presence fills the room even if she doesn’t mean it too. She is infectious spreading her smiles and superiority and she is ours to love and adore, to aid her through this life and you are betraying her in every was possible.” Sol finished with a growl before pulling himself into the deepest corners of his mind.
He sighed pulling his hair out of the small ponytail he managed to put it into, reaching out to brush strands of hair from her face, her head lolled to the side revealing the tiny crescent moon behind her ear, the silver moon standing out again milky white skin, gently touching it as he felt his own mark heat up. He shifted even closer before deciding to slip into the bed with her, pulling her against him before allowing himself to fall asleep.
He sadly only got to sleep for about an hour before his arm was pinched, opening his golden eyes with a menacing growl to ward off whoever the f**k was messing with him only to be met with dark eyes, oh .. it was Odette. He looked at his mate before back up at the woman, reminding himself this is what was best. Fighting the sigh that fought to escape him as he sat up gently removing his arms from Azula.
“Yes, Odette?” He questioned
“How are you in here with her? You are supposed to be with me, holding me not her and checking up on me” she said in a stern voice.
“I figured you were fine, I’m sorry if you felt ignored,” he said trying to quickly salvage the situation.
“I do feel ignored Vulcan, I have from the moment you met her, what am I supposed to make of this? How do you think this makes me feel seeing you like this? Seeing you with her? What games are you playing because —“
He didn’t allow her to finish that sentence, moving to cup her face as his lips met hers, gently as if to convince her there was passion, a spark when there was none. It nearly repulsed him to kiss Odette now, but the thought of keeping his mate from suspicion of being his mate was at the forefront of his mind. It consumed his thoughts, he would do anything to keep her safe … even this… even If she could never love him for it. It had to be done. He could do this for her.
He finally broke off the kiss “I’m sorry Odette we can have dinner together” he reasoned as he looked into the smiling woman’s face. Guilt threatened to embrace him as he realized he wasn’t just hurting his mate, but her as well.
“Okay!” Odette said in a much chipper tone.
“I’ll see you at dinner” the brunette cooed moving to kiss his cheek.
“Dinner” he repeated in a slightly dissociated voice watching the brunette leave as he relaxed. Silently burying his face into his hands exhaling before turning to check on his mate but his heart plummeted into his stomach at the sight, it felt as if he couldn’t breathe the iron grip on his lungs never eased up. He knew what caused those beautiful blue eyes to be teary, and he thought he felt guilty before? Her tears felt like acid upon his skin eating away slowly until he would be nothing but bones, a mere skeleton of the person he thought himself to be. All it took was one look at that beautiful teary eyed face to make him question everything that has lead up to this.
Why? Why did hurting her hurt him?
