Chapter 11 - you've got it bad

1036 Words
Charlie's Point of View I was pacing up and down the grand hallway, which wasn't looking so grand at the moment with water pouring down through the roof above and onto the floor.  Alex had literally been out of my sight for 30 minutes and I had hated every second of it.  I honestly had no clue about what to do with myself.  Now it looked like the ceiling was about to fall down around my ears and all I knew at that moment was that the damage had occurred right where my mate had been bathing.  Lucas had gone up to investigate and I was stuck here until he came down to tell me what was going on.  If anything had happened to that girl I wasn't sure what I'd do, but I knew it wouldn't be reasonable. "Man do you have it bad"  Liam snorted behind me.  I growled at him but other than that I didn't respond.  I was far too keyed up to appreciate Liam's sense of humour at the moment.  Truth was, he was right.  My whole life had began to spin off in another direction just because of the scent that Alex was giving out.  All of my priorities had suddenly shifted.  It was like my body had been taken over by a chemical reaction.  I ran my hands through my hair and tugged at the routes.  How was I going to convince this girl that I was the best thing for her when she thought that our kind were monsters?  In here dreams she believed that the Werewolves were the bad guys, and she'd been having these dreams for four years.  It seemed like an insurmountable challenge to get her to change her views, much less fall in love with me.  I picked back up my pacing until Lucas came out of the elevator.  I opened my mouth to ask what was going on but Lucas held his hand up to stop my torrent of questions. "All you need to know is that they are both fine.  Alex fell asleep in the bath and I think April took the door down trying to get to her" This did absolutely nothing to help my stress levels!  The fact that I couldn't do anything only made me more agitated.  Lucas could see that his statement hadn't really helped matters so he tried again. "They've gone upstairs to our apartment, once Alex is feeling a little more human they'll be back down.  In the meantime Charlie it's just a waiting game." I let out a long sigh...  "This is a disaster!"  I said, feeling like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders. "It's far from ideal, Charlie, but it's not a total write off.  For now we just need to get her settled in, then we'll have to come up with some sort of plan as to how we go forward." "Tell her we're all gigantic Wolves you mean?" I said sarcastically "If you've got a better idea Charlie then I am all ears."  Lucas replied in a pissed off tone. "My apologies Alpha.  I'm really not trying to be a d**k, I just don't seem to be able to help it since about an hour ago." Lucas threw his head back and laughed "All the best girls drive their guys crazy, it keeps us on our toes." I gave him a tight smile, but I wasn't really in a joking mood. "Look Charlie, we'll all have some dinner tonight which will give you a chance to get to know her a little better.  You'll be in charge of her security so you'll spend more time than anyone else with her.  You're just going to need to have some patience." I looked at my watch. It was lunch time.  Dinner was at 6.  This was unbearable. "Beer?"  Liam suggested over my shoulder.  He'd been completely silent through the whole exchange and I'd almost forgotten he was there.  I shook my head, I really didn't think alcohol was going to make me feel any better. "Pool?"  tried Lucas "Darts?" My brothers were trying to help me shake off my bad mood.  I really appreciated that, even though I wasn't exactly showing it. Liam snapped his fingers "I've got it"  he declared "Mortal Kombat on the X-Box!!"  He was so delighted with himself you'd think he'd just solved world poverty!  I felt my bad mood evaporating, more so because of the look on Liam's face than the actual game. "Now you're talking!"  I grinned at him.  I knew I wouldn't be able to go out and train with the rest of the pack because I'd be way too distracted.  Plus if the Gamma get's his ass handed to him by another warrior you can bet he wouldn't be able to live it down for at least a hundred years.  However, getting yourself beaten on a computer game by the Alpha of your adjoining pack, well I was hardly going to become a laughing stock.   "Genius idea little brother"  Lucas slapped him on the back.  "You two go on ahead,  I need to get this mess sorted out." We all looked towards the ceiling, The plaster was now hanging there by a thread.   "You know, the Luna always wanted a water feature"  Liam said deadpan. "Little brother, you've had your good idea for the day with Mortal Kombat, I don't think the world of interior design is ready for your idea's just yet!" "Just trying to help"  Liam huffed and started towards the kitchen.  I looked at Lucas who just shrugged.  Liam appeared minutes later with two beers and a bag of chips.  "Let's go"  he said to me looking way too happy about a computer game. "Thanks Liam"  I said as I followed him into the play room.  "I appreciate it" "Dude this is nothing, the amount of stuff I had to come up with when Lucas was pining over April has put me in an excellent position to help." "Moon Goddess, he was without her for five years.  I had no concept of how difficult that was until about an hour ago" "Well, like I said, you got it bad!"
