Chapter 8 Complicated

Charlie's Point of View
One second ago I was walking towards my Alpha without a care in the world and the next minute BAM! Their was an onslaught of feelings in my body that started to ramp up the second I smelt her! she smelt of strawberry creams and chocolate. It was so amazing I had to get closer and inhale the scent at it's source. However when I started advancing towards the pack dining hall Lucas and Liam rugby tackled me to the ground - What the f**k.
Liam was a hell of a fighter and had me pinned in a couple of seconds but that didn't stop me trying to bite his jaw off. I kicked out and heard a snap, then an almighty roar that shook the pack house.
"Charlie stop that NOW" Lucas commanded in his Alpha voice. I did as he said immediately and scrambled to my feet and stood to full attention. I noticed that I'd managed to break the Alpha's nose. s**t! I hoped he'd cut me a bit of leeway because I smelt my mate. I wasn't sure why they wouldn't let me in but I trusted Lucas and Liam so I stayed exactly where I was. I held my breath for as long as possible so that I could keep my brain in check, but every time I re-drew breath, it took every ounce of self discipline I had not to go in there and claim what was mine.
"Alpha, your nose..." Oh my Goddess I was f****d here.
"It's alright Charlie it'll fix itself" He wasn't looking at me like he thought it was alright. I bowed my head "I'm sorry Alpha" I said in a repentant tone. I had kicked my boss in the face and I was mortified. Liam however was currently almost doubled up with laughter.
"Hahahahahaha! You should look in a mirror man, you look like crap" Liam chortled to himself. I still had my head down so when Liam abruptly stopped mid giggle I could only assume that the Alpha had given his little brother one of his death glares.
"Charlie" Lucas started "There are only two female wolves in the dining room. One's Lauren and one's your Luna"
I tried to let that sink in but it didn't make any sense. "So there are two females in there Alpha?"
Lucas shook his head at me "No Charlie there are two female wolves and one female..... person"
Eh??
"I'm sorry Alpha I don't understand what you're trying to tell me. What do you mean by female person?"
"He means, A female girl, like a human girl."
"Oh for f**k sake are you kidding me?" I barked at Liam. I shouldn't have spoken to him like that, I know I shouldn't, he outranked me by a country mile. But come on... Moon Goddess a human? I didn't even want a mate in the first place. Talk about adding insult to injury!
"No I am not kidding" Liam said in his own Alpha voice. "And know this, she is very fragile at the moment so you will not upset her"
I looked Liam in the eye. He wasn't my Alpha so I was able to do it. "I won't upset her Alpha Liam" and then as an after thought I added "Did she feel the bond?"
"No she just smelt toffee apples." I rolled my eyes heavenward. Moon Goddess you couldn't give me something more manly than toffee apples? This was one of the worst days of my life!
"But she smelt you before you smelt her, which is really weird. That's why we were able to get out to you so quickly." Liam said. "Hopefully now that you've calmed down we can all go in without it causing a scene."
"I doubt that" I replied. "Because the curtains are drawn and Lauren is giving you daggers"
Liam turned round and looked at his mates face. Yeah she was mad.
"s**t. How does she always do that" He wondered to himself.
We all headed into the dining room then, Lucas first, then me and then Liam skulked in behind us. I scanned the room to find out where the scent was coming from and that's when I saw her.
She can't have been much more that 16 years old by the looks of her, but then if she could smell me she would have been at least 17. She was literally skin and bone, her eyes looked too big for the setting of her face because her cheekbones were so hollow. She was wearing clothes she should have thrown out years ago. Her hair was a dirty blonde and her eyes were the colour of the sky. I could not stop staring at her, she was absolutely stunning. I could tell by the mess she was in that she hadn't been looked after for a long time. I just wanted to wrap her up in blankets and take care of her for the rest of her life.
"She knows nothing about us" Lucas warned me in a mind link. "So go very careful" I scoffed, as if I would ever hurt her.
"Hi" She said looking at me curiously. Her voice was captivating.
I opened my mouth, and let out a little squeak. I snapped my jaw shut and cleared my throat.
"Hey" I said as casually as I could. "I'm Charlie"
"Alex" She replied.
I just kept staring at her, I couldn't help myself. She was absolutely wonderful. After a while though it was becoming obvious I was making her uncomfortable so I sat back and looked to Lucas to pick up the conversation.
"Alex, Charlie is my Gamma-"
"I'm sorry your what?" Alex jumped straight in. Goddess this was going to be complicated!
"It simply means he is third in command" Lucas said casually
"Of your hotel?" Alex questioned. f**k me! I thought.
"Yes, but he's also head of security, and whilst you are very safe her, Charlie will be your security detail."
"Ok then" She agreed without any hesitation at all which said to me that she was scared of whatever it was that was going on. Without thinking I growled.
"You hungry Charlie?" April asked me. "There's really no need to be quite so vocal about it" She said the words slowly and deliberately.
"Sorry Luna-April" I said quickly. This was going to be a nightmare.
April rolled her eyes at me "So I think you go get yourself something to eat with Lucas and Liam, and Lauren and I will get Alex settled into her room."
Lauren looked at Liam "Try not to do anymore fighting" she smiled at him.
Once the girls had left the dining room I let out a huge breath I didn't know I had been holding!
Well this was complicated!
