Liam's Point of View
Lauren and I looked at each other in horror before we sprinted back out into the hall. Truth be told I was expecting to find that Alex had been mauled to death by either one of our own or a rogue wolf.
Instead, Alex was clutching her head and her nose was bleeding heavily. Thank the Moon Goddess!! My relief was very short lived however when I realised I had seen this before. She had stopped screaming and was now whimpering in pain. I took a step back from her, this was not an unfamiliar scene and it was exactly the reason why my pack was for Werewolves only. I did not do well with any other super naturals.
Lauren flitted to Alex's side whilst I stayed exactly where I was. She crouched on her knees and tried to prise her hands away from her face.
"Alex, honey? Are you ok" She asked her with genuine concern in her voice. It always amazed me how quickly women changed there minds about things. Two seconds ago she wanted to sling Alex out! As long as I lived I would never understand women.
Alex shook her head from side to side, She was trying to shift whatever it was in her mind as well as saying that no, she was definitely not ok. "I had a nightmare" She choked out, sounding like she had just lived through her very own personal hell!
"Liam, can you go and get something to wipe her face? Also you better mind link your brother. He and April are way better equipped to deal with this than we are"
Great! On my list of things I did not want to do today, disturbing Lucas was right at the very top. I took the stairs two at a time and grabbed a cloth for Lauren. On the way back down I heard the girls talking.
"....I've had them since I was 13. It's almost like they follow me around!" Alex was full on sobbing in Laurens arms "They're getting worse now with someone shouting at me to do things, but this is the first time it's been painful...I don't know how to cope with this anymore" She started to cry again. I felt so sorry for her. As werewolves, we didn't really mix too much with humans, and we very rarely felt sorry for them. I started to wonder if there was something more to her than met the eye. I wasn't sure she was just human.
"Liam, for Goddess sake find your backbone and mind link your brother right now"
"Fine" I replied sulkily. I checked the time, 9:30 am. To say he was not going to be impressed was the worlds biggest understatement.
To my complete amazement he wasn't blocking. That was dedication for you.
"It's not even 10am the morning after my wedding, this better be important little brother!" Lucas growled at me. He wasn't really a morning kind of guy.
"Um, possible Human hybrid?" I offered as an explanation.
"You have my attention, Liam. so you best start talking"
"Ok dude, so some broad turned up at the territory gates this morning. She was acting more strangely than your everyday human! She looks like she's been sleeping rough and smells like garbage! Anyway, she's just woken up screaming in my hallway, saying that her dreams are giving her a headache and her nose is bleeding."
There was a long pause I figured Lucas was trying to process.
"You need to bring her here" . Lucas said in his serious voice. 'Duh' I thought to myself.
He cut off immediately after. Nice talking to you bro.
I went back down stairs to find that Lauren had cleaned up Alex's face. She was bone white and clearly in shock. Her hands shook as she tried to take a sip of her tea. Lauren looked at me and I nodded once to show that I'd done what she asked me to.
"Alex, Liam has just called his brother Lucas. He's got a place about an hour from here, we're going to take you there and try and figure out exactly what's going on ok?"
"How do you know he'll be able to help?" Alex asked looking from Lauren to me and then back again.
"It's a little difficult to explain" I replied "But this isn't the first time we've seen headaches combined with nose bleeds. My brother and sister-in-law both have experience in this."
Her eyes widened in surprise "Do they hear voices in their dreams?"
Oh Christ, this was getting more and more difficult. I'd be tied up in knots if I didn't watch what I was saying. Luckily Lauren stepped in to save me.
"What did you hear in your dreams Alex?" She asked her in a soft tone
"You believe me?" Alex asked Lauren completely flabbergasted. "No one has ever believed me!" Alex started to get really choked up again. Lauren grabbed her hand and held it in her lap. She was so compassionate and so loving. She really was an incredible mate. I'd spend my entire existence making sure she knew she was loved more than anything and everything in the world.
"I do Alex, I think you've travelled a long way to try and find us. You wouldn't do that for nothing."
"I wouldn't!" Alex said wiping her nose on her tattered sleeve. "She just said 'Right place, Wrong time' but her words really hurt me! My head felt like it was about to come off of my shoulders. It's horrible Lauren, I don't think I can live through anymore of this." She went back to sobbing uncontrollably, she had her arms wrapped around her body as if she was physically trying to hold herself together
Shit!
"Shhhh, Shhhh, It's going to be ok Alex I promise." Lauren cooed at her. "Liam I think we should head out right now."
I nodded in agreement. I don't know what it was about this frail little girl but I just felt like we needed to protect her.
Lauren helped her up from the sofa but she collapsed almost immediately. I picked her up in my arms so I could carry her out to the car, she literally weighed nothing at all and I honestly started to panic.
"Lauren, will you sit in the back with me? I don't want to fall back to sleep" Alex sounded exhausted and I figured it would probably take a lot more than Lauren talking to keep her up.
Once the girls were in the back, I got into the drivers seat and put on the angriest rap music I could find. I wound down all my windows and stomped on the gas.
