Liam's Point Of View
I towed my visitor back towards the pack house. This was such a risky move, but I couldn't let her stay out there when there were rogues running about the place.
"What's your name?" I asked out of curiosity as we reached the front door.
"Alex." She replied
"I'm Liam"
"I thought your name was Alfa" She said frowning at me.
"What? No, Elliot called me ALPHA because I'm in charge, it's instead of 'boss' or 'chief'"
"Riiiggghhht" She said in a drawn out voice. Clearly she was mocking me.
"You can come in and stay until we've got things under control outside"
She followed me in through the front door.
"Wow!" She exclaimed looking around the main reception hall.
I smiled at her reaction, feeling proud of what we had accomplished during the time we had been here. We'd all but demolished the old pack house. All the outdated décor had been stripped and the circa 1950's furniture had been burnt. Now it was varnished dark wooden floors all the way through the ground floor instead of sticky thread bear carpet. Lauren had hung huge mirrors around the main hall to make it look bigger than it was and insisted that the walls were painted a very light cream to 'enhance the perception of space' whatever the f**k that meant. All I knew was that it looked awesome. It was no where near as big as Lucas's pad but I preferred it this size, we had extended it outwards but there were still only three floors. I looked up to see Lauren coming towards me down the stairs. She still took my breath away, blonde hair, blue eyes, perfect body with perfect skin. I loved her with my entire being, and just when I thought it would be impossible to love her any more, she gave birth to our son, Samuel. I was the luckiest guy on the planet.
"Liam was that noise what I-" She stopped dead in her tracks and looked towards the stranger at my side.
"This is Alex. Elliot alerted me of her arrival just before that rogue bear showed up."
Lauren looked at me like I'd lost my mind "Just go with this hun please" I linked her straight afterwards.
She eyed me suspiciously, but walked slowly down the last few stairs and reached her hand towards the human.
"Alex I'm Lauren, Liam's….. other half" She hadn't used the word mate so she obviously sensed that something was off.
"Hi" She replied. Lauren kept hold of her hand and delicately sniffed the air around the girl.
"Are you local to here?"
"Nah I'm travelling, I was looking for somewhere to stay actually when I stumbled upon this place."
"Well sadly this place is fully booked" Said Lauren not looking in the least bit upset.
All three of us stood in silence. Awkward Silence.
I noticed how tired Alex looked. Outside I was more interested in the fact that she was a human being, now I was looking at her properly she looked very fragile and very broken. She reminded me of how Lucas had looked a few years ago when he suffered with terrible nightmares, her eyes were dark rimmed, hollow and blood shot. Add that to the awful smell she was giving off and the dirty clothes and I was starting to think she wasn't having the best time in life.
"Would you like some tea?" I offered. Lauren growled at me in warning.
"Sure tea would be good" She shrugged. I gestured to the brown leather sofa pressed against the wall. She shuffled over and sat down. She didn't look like she had much energy and so my compassion level kicked up a notch.
I headed towards the kitchen with Lauren in toe.
"Liam what the hell is going on? Is that girl human? You know she shouldn't be in a hundred miles of this place."
"Look babe she just showed up this morning whilst you were still in bed. She started asking me bizarre questions about how many kids we have. Then we heard a rogue call. I couldn't send her off to die so I brought her in here until Elliot's got it under control."
"Wait! back up a second. She's asking about kids, why?"
I filled Lauren in on the ridiculous conversation we'd had before we got back to the Pack House.
"Liam I don't like the sound of this at all, you need to speak to your brother."
"But it's the day after his wedding, he's more likely to kill me than help me out - And I am way too pretty to die." I tried a little humour to defuse the situation slightly
"So we'll just keep the weird chick here then?" She asked glaring at me. The joke had clearly fallen flat.
"Lauren, I know she's pretty out there but I don't believe her to be a threat. She's scared of bears for Goddess sake, and you know a Werewolf would beat a Bear in top trumps" I tried giving her another smile, this time I got half of one back in return. "She's also a bloody mess and I'm not sure she's living her best life, she reminds me of the Luna a little...."
April was the Luna of our previous pack. She was also Lauren's best friend. My comments started pulling on her heart strings a little. Lauren walked over to the kettle to make the tea we'd offered to our guest.
"Ok then genius," She was making fun of me and that was a good sign "suppose I buy into this, what's our next move?"
"We take her when we go and pick up Sammy from Mom, see what she thinks" My Mom has a very handy little gift of being able to pick up on someone's personality just by being in their personal space. "And in the mean time maybe we'll offer her a shower?"
Lauren laughed. She picked up Alex's mug of tea, and then promptly dropped it again when an ear piercing scream rang through the entire first floor. Someone was murdering Alex!
