Nick chopped wood the entire morning to try and get away from Amber or better yet, get her out of his mind. He literally had to drag himself out of bed but even that could not get rid of the smell of her perfume and her kisses that still felt hot on his skin.
Every time he thought of the way she yelled out his name with pleasure, he hardened and that made him uncomfortable.
Nick, get a hold of yourself otherwise you’ll lose control. He mentally told himself, there was no way he was going to allow himself to be weak, especially by Amber.
It had been hours since he had been chopping wood for his fire place, even though he had enough wood. Anything was better than dealing with the possible rejection by Amber. She was not the time type to fall for a guy like him, she liked the bright lights and the glamour and he liked peace and quietness, they were from different worlds.
He stopped chopping wood and the moment he looked up, he caught Amber at the entrance of his door looking at him. Nicks heart stopped when he caught wind of her. Amber’s hair in a messy bun, bare feet, wearing his oversized shirt, at least three sizes bigger than she is, with a smile on her face.
She waved at Nick and for a moment he could not gather up the strength to lift up his hand and wave back at her so he smiled back at her instead. He put down his axe and wiped the sweat from his brow as he proceeded to walk towards her.
He stopped as he was mare inches away from Amber; he towered over her by a few inches and his broad shoulders wider than hers did. She smiled at him, making her weak at the knees.
“So how did you sleep?” he asked Amber who was lost for words but instinct kicked in as she walked towards him. She reached out for his neck, stood on the tip of her toes, and planted a light kiss on his lips and Nick responded to her. Amber stopped the kiss and she looked into his eyes and slowly moved her lips to his ears.
“How could I sleep when you left me all alone?” Amber whispered in his ears, causing Nick to harden even more. Flashes from the previous night flashed right in front of his face and he regretted leaving the comfort of her touch.
“I just thought that— that you did not want me to—“Nick stopped speaking, Amber’s finger placed on his lips and that caused a reaction out of him.
“Next time you want to know something, just ask me, don’t assume you know me” Amber told him. Now that Amber had said this Nick knew very well that he really did not know Amber that well.
From the outside she looked like a strict woman, buttoned up and all about her business but in between the sheets she was a wild woman, untamed and ready to rip him apart with her bare hands.
His body was awake from her touch and for a split second Nick thought of what his best friend would think of the two of them. Nick did not want to offend his best friend but in that moment all that thought flew out of the window.
Nick’s hands reached the side of Amber’s face and he kissed her lightly on her lips and then paused to look at her, without hesitation he lifted Amber and carried her to his room. Nick laid her onto his bed and she looked up at him with a wicked smile on her face.
“What are you going to do to me?” she asked him.
“I am going to do wicked things to you, Ms. Amber Albertson”
“What kind of wicked things?” she asked Nick, pretending that she did not know what he was talking about, but she did and she was ready for it.
“If you think last night was the best that you have ever had, then you’ve got another thing coming” a smirk appeared on his face as he lowered himself onto Amber, feeling the fabric of her cloths on his bare chest.
He was going to enjoy this, all regrets could come later, but for now he was going to focus on this moment.

Nick stared at the ceiling for the past three hours that he laid in bed with Amber and he kept thinking to himself how such sweet love making could feel so bad. Nick looked at the woman who slept besides him, her head buried deep in his shoulder. He did not want to regret this moment but he could not help but think what would become of them once they left the confines of his.
He knew that the two of them would just go back to being strangers and she would go back to her fashion empire and most probably be irritated with her. Nick tried to think of all the positives that their love making could bring but other than the mind blowing passionate they shared; there was nothing positive about this.
He moved his eyes away from the ceiling and his eyes were now focused on the clock in his room, it was now almost eleven in the morning.
Amber winced in his arms because of the cold, Nick instinctively wrapped his other arm around her to keep her warm, and she settled. The pain in groan made him roll his eyes again; he could not believe that he was left wanting her again only after three hours since they had made love to each other.
He felt a hand slither and wrap around his manhood and he looked at Amber, whose eyes were shut but a smirk appeared on her face. He knew that she was not sleeping; she wanted him just as much he wanted her.
He planted a kiss on her forehead, causing her smile to widen as she opened her eyes.
“Good morning, handsome” she greeted him with a smile on her face, her legs climbing over his hips. He smiled back at Amber, who then reached for his neck, and looked deep into Nick’s eyes.
“Are you ready for another round?” he asked Amber with a smirk on his face, knowing quite well what the answer would be.
“I need to take a shower” she teased him but Nick caught on to what she was saying.
“How about I take a shower with you?” he asked her softly, wanting to desperately kiss her soft moist lips.
Without hesitation Nick got up from his bed, naked and in his natural form, every muscle, and outline of his body fully visible. Amber’s eyes widened because she knew what awaited her in Nick’s shower.
Nick lifted her up and carried her to the shower, where the magic between them was set to begin.

“Viola watched at the window as her husband, Tate drove his truck onto their ranch. Viola knew that there was no good news to be shared. The passenger’s seat was empty, meaning that her sister had still not been found.
Viola’s eyes watered but no one of her tears threatened to fall, she watched as her husband made his way into their home and his eyes met hers. He walked towards his wife and he planted a kiss on her lips.
“Please, if something is wrong just tell me” Viola begged her husband to tell her what was really going on.
“I’m sorry my love,, the roads are all blocked, trees have been uprooted and even worse some cars have been turned over” he told his wife sadly. Tate wished that there was something else he could do but he knew that that was impossible at the moment.
“Have you tried calling her phone?” she asked her husband, hoping to get some good news.
“There’s no network and all the cell towers are down, nothing is working my dear” he sadly told her and that made Viola even more concerned about her sister.
She knew that her sister was really sick and recovering from the operation that she had, she could not be out in the cold, and her medications were nowhere to be found, as well as some of her clothing’s.
“Tate I think that Amber ran away from us” she sadly told her husband wrapped his arms around her.
“Don’t say such things, Amber would never do such a thing and it’s not like she was unhappy with us”
Viola knew that this had nothing to do with how Amber was being treated at their home; something had to have gone wrong for her sister to just pack up and leave like that.
“Tate, she took some of her cloths with her and also I saw that her medications were missing” The shocked expression on Nicks face showed Amber that he was just as worried about her sister as she was.
“Why would she leave just like that?” He asked Viola, who herself was baffled by Amber’s actions.
“I don’t know what caused her actions” Viola told her husband, she had no idea what had gone through her sister’s mind but it had to be serious to make her leave like that.
“Maybe I should call mother and ask her if Amber has arrived home”
“No Viola, I doubt that your sister went back home, just think about it, she’s not so dumb to take the same risk twice”
It hit Viola that her husband was right ever since the accident her sister had developed a fear of thunder storms and bad weather and there was absolutely no ways that she would allow herself.
“I know it’s hard for me to say this but I feel that your sister is okay” Viola rolled her eyes at the thought that her husband would say anything to make her feel better.
“Tate, please stop this” she told her husband.
“I’m serious think about it Viola, she packed he bags along with her medication. Your sister knew exactly what he was doing when she left” Viola thought to herself that maybe her husband was right, maybe her sister did leave their home intentionally.
The only thing that Viola struggled with was her sister’s motive to leave home without saying a word to them.

Amber thought of a million things that she would rather be doing with Nick as they drove on the road in Nick’s truck. She had no idea if the name ‘road’ was even appropriate, because pieces of the tar that made up the road was uprooted by the storm—just goes to show how devastating the storm actually was and she was grateful that she survive its wrath the last time.
The drive back to her sister and brother in-laws place was rather a bumpy one, dirt on the roads made it almost impossible to drive smoothly, even on Nick’s big truck. As they drove Amber could hear the splashing of water that filled up the pot holes, more evident of the dangerous storm that had pass.
They were both quiet, both full of pride, refusing to speak to one another, choosing to ignore the fact of the blissful morning in the shower that they had shared.
He did not speak to her and she did the same, for this ride they were no longer lovers wrapped in each other’s arms, they were simply two stranger on a bumpy road, going nowhere slow.
Out of boredom Amber raised her leg onto the seat and she bit her lips, she her a groan come from deep within Nick’s throat, causing her to look at him.
“What’s wrong” She asked Nick, sounding pretty concerned about his recent actions. Nick halted the car, causing Amber to jerk forward, thank goodness for her seatbelt that saved her from ramming right into the windscreen.
She regained her equilibrium and her eyes was now focused on Nick, anger rose within her and all she could think of was that she had been close to losing her life again.
“What did you do that for, I could have died?” Amber yelled at Nick, who did not react at all, his eyes focused on her and only her.
“Don’t do that” he told her, leaving Amber confused about what it is that she had done to warrant that reaction from him.
“What did I do this time?” she asked him, Nick looked back at her as if he was staring right into her soul.
“Stop licking your lips like that, it turns me on” he told her causing Amber’s n*****s to perk up and her body heat up for him that instant for him. Her mouth watered and she really hoped that they were not going to make love again, the last thing that they wanted was to end up making love in the middle of nowhere, where anyone could see the two of them.
But then she really wanted more of him but afraid that Nick might become her addiction and she could not allow that to happen, she was a city girl and he liked his quiet life style and that simply meant that they were different.
“We can’t Amber” Nick told her, disappointed she looked away from him, refusing to show him that she was disappointed. Before she could turn her head, Nick pulled her in for a long kiss, blowing her mind away.
He stopped the kiss and without a word further, Nick started his engine and he drove. The drive had gone from passion and then silence and that had bothered her a lot, he acted like their love making meant nothing and Amber could not figure out why it hurt her so much. She did not want to sound or feel needy, because at the back of her mind she still had to keep her word to the pact that she made with her sisters.
She liked that attention that she got from Nick and so did she like the attention that she received from Steven as well but they were men and she could not get attached to them.
She looked at the road ahead of her and her mind drifted away to a world where possibilities were dreams came true but she was a realist and she knew that even that was not possible.
This time Nick, pressed his foot hard onto the breaks causing Amber to jerk forward yet again. This time she looked at him knowing quite well that she did not in fact bite on her lips.
Nick was not looking at her but his attention was faced ahead of him and when Amber followed his eyes, she could she what was wrong and what caused the abrupt stop. There was a tree blocking the road, which meant that they had to find another route.
Her heart still beating in her chest and she wondered if luck was truly on her side, this was now the third time that she had missed death.
