“There is nothing we can do at this point my dear, it would be something close to a miracle” the doctor told Scarlet for the very last time. This was the third doctor that Scarlet had visited and all of them had told her the same thing.
She swallowed the lump in her throat and she vowed that she was never going to break down, not in front of anyone, not even in front of the doctor. She smiled at the doctor, trying her best to conceal her pain as she stood up from the hospital bed.
Scarlet stretched out her hand and shook the doctor’s hand, as she mouthed a thank you to him. Without waiting for a reply she stepped out of his office, and then the real pain hit her.
Walking down the hallway, scarlet could not really feel her feet moving towards the exit, all she could feel was total pain.
