I slid down a small cliff, but managed to roll near the end and avoided taking most of the blow to my feet. Running between the trees was pretty doable, though my reflexes definitely weren’t as refined as they once were, because the snow was soft and not as slippery. Whenever I came across a clearing I had to be careful not to trip over any hidden rocks or slip on some ice. I needed to make the most of my head start, I needed to get back into my old life. The sun was right behind me, so I was running west. I hadn’t found a single map in their library that might point me to where exactly I was in Declan’s territory, but I knew that they would have taken the quickest route to get me from the palace to the castle.
