Declan held me tightly to his chest, his fingers digging painfully into my arm and my thigh. The rest of the castle was quiet and deserted, even after we left the west wing and I finally got to see more of it. Werewolves would never willingly wake up early and vampires could spend those quiet hours alone, doing whatever they pleased when they didn’t have to keep werewolves into account. The only people we encountered were humans, who were busy cleaning and lighting fireplaces.
