~Xander POV~ “Hello? Xander here.” I said after looking at the caller ID. “Hey Xander where are you? I haven’t heard from you since the nightclub last night?” a familiar voice said on the other end of the phone. “Oh hey John. I cannot talk right now, and I will be a little late to the office.” I said before hanging up not giving him a chance to respond back. I got up to leave, but turned and looked at her once more before I did. God I hope she’s going to be fine. Lord protect her while I’m away. I thought in my heart before shaking it off. Reopening his phone and dialing a number Xander said, “Hello. I need a ride please. Yes everythings fine. Please meet me out front of Mercy Hope Hospital.” pausing a moment he then said, “yes, yes… I am fine. Please come quickly as I am late for work.” he said thank you to the person before hanging up and replacing the phone in its proper place on his belt loop and began walking to the front of the hospital. Xander left the hospital rather quickly as he hopped in the car to take him home, the first time since he left the club late last night. He had spent most of the night and the first half of the morning at the hospital with the Jane Doe bride he had hit with his car. Now, Xander is a striking young man in his mid-to-late twenties with dirty brown hair and blue-hazel eyes. He stands six foot two with a muscular build. He is what women call a very eligible and coveted bachelor that makes any woman who sees him wanting and begging to be taken by him. He comes from outstanding breeding and family values. Most of which makes him even more coveted. His mother raised him to be mindful of a woman’s needs and considerations through being a true gentleman, while his father? Well, he taught him everything he knew about family values, business savvy and how to be a good man. All of these things women see and adore in him. Xander now runs the family business as the CEO while his father acts as counsel to him. Hix best friend, Jonathan also works for the company as a financial advisor. Now, Xander has had his fair share of one night stands and various non-serious girlfriends with benefits as he likes to put it. He is not one for love. Although his parents are in and have shown how much love they have for each other Xander is scared of it. He opened himself up once to someone special; it did not work out quite like he hoped and Xander became closed off and shut down his heart to anymore aches that only love brings. Once I reached home I thanked Jules, my butler for coming to retrieve me. “Just leave the keys on the table please, I’ll drive it to work when I leave.” I said as I walked up stairs to my bathroom. I showered, shaved, more like trimmed it, and brushed my teeth before putting on my clothes. I did not feel like a complete suit today so I reached for black slacks, a lavender long sleeve button down shirt and put on a blue and purple swirl design tie. After putting on my black loafers I brushed my hair back a little and walked back down stairs. “Mr. Mathers” my maid started as she came from the kitchen. “Yes, Ms. Brooks?” “Would you like some breakfast before you head off to work?” she said with a smile as she handed me my cup of tea. I do not care for coffee, especially the taste and caffeine. “Not today Ms. Brooks. But thank you for offering. Thank you for the White Tea as well.” smiling back at her. “Very well Mr. Mathers.” she said before she turned and left heading back to the kitchen. “Jules?” I called for him as I was heading out the door. “Yes Mr. Mathers? What can I do for you for you sir?” he spoke as he walked into the foyer from the other room. “Could you please call the car shop and make sure the Jaguar has been taken there? I had a little… accident with it late last night.” “Yes sir. I will take care of it.” he said before continuing, “are you alright sir? Since I picked you up from the hospital?” concerned now evident in his facial features. “Yes Jules. I am thank you for your concern. You and Ms. Brooks have been good to me over my life… and I thank you for it.” smiling back at him. “Will you be taking the Benz then sir?” “Yes. The keys are already available since you picked me up in it.” Nodding in approval he said, “Yes sir… very good then.” and walked back out. Picking up the keys to the Benz, I walked out of the house while dialing my receptionist. “Good morning Margie!” I said as she answered the phone. “Good morning Mr. Mathers. Will you be making it to the office today sir?” said with concern in her voice. “Yes Margie I am actually on my way in right now.. I had a little accident late last night but all is well.” “Are you alright sir?!” she said with great concern for me. “Do you need me to cancel your day so you can rest?” “No, no Margie. I am still coming in. I am on my right now. Clearing my schedule is not necessary. But I thank you for your concern though.” smiling at her mothering. Margie reminds me a lot of my own mother. I think that’s why she has lasted so long. I normally go through receptionists rather quickly due to them being younger and wanting more from me than I will allow. I do not do relationships… more like I do not do love. “Margie, I do need a favor however. Last night a young woman was hit by a car running down the street in a wedding dress...” “Did you say running in the street in a wedding dress?” interrupting to make sure she heard me right. “Yes Margie, in a wedding dress. She was taken to the hospital late last night but no one has seemed to claim her as of this morning.” stopping for a brief second. “And… you would like me to see if I can find any information on her, correct?” she said, interjecting. A stretching over my face with this comment as she knew where I was going with this request. “Yes Margie, that’s exactly what I want you to do.” “Please be discreet as I do not want to alarm anyone if she was running away from someone specific. I would not be able to live with myself if she got further hurt because of reckless investigating. I thought to myself. “Yes sir I understand. What information can you give me about her for the search?” she asked now, sounding like a private investigator on the other line. Hopping into the Benz and starting the engine I said, “She is about in her low-to-mid twenties, with deep red long curly or wavy-ish hair? She’s in a coma right now so I do not know her eye color, and there doesn’t seem to be any identifying physical marks on her other than the wedding dress she was wearing.” smirking at myself. “Thank you sir. It may take some time but I’ll have our people look into it.” she said confidently. “How long before your arrival sir?” “I’ll be there in 10 minutes.” I said before hanging up the phone and losing myself in thought.
