Jason rushes to Katie grabbing the paddles, "Clear" he yells delivering the first shock.
Max yells, "She is going to need blood" as the monitor goes back to showing her heartbeat.
Jason quickly hangs a blood bag, inserting an iv into her. Then, Max packs her trying to stop the bleeding. After several attempts, Max whispers, "I am so sorry Katie." Then proceeds to perform another procedure he was hoping to avoid.
Katie remained unconscious for 4 weeks. When she woke up, she saw Jason, Chance, Chase, and Max asleep in chairs surrounding her. Next to the bed, she also saw all six of her new pups. Then she saw a few playpens holding her 7 sleeping pups. Only they did not look like her babies, they were much bigger.
Jason woke up and a huge smile spread across his face seeing her eyes finally open. Going to the bed he quickly hugged her, "Thank god"
"Thank you, you delivered them all," She said grinning.
"Not exactly, I delivered the first two.
"Keep going," Katie said looking at him.
"We turned the next and Professor Stubin delivered the third. You passed out and we rushed you to the operating room. After the three were were delivered cesarian, you flatlined. I shocked you and gave you the blood we had."
Katie realized something was wrong. "Then what?"
"Then he tried to pack you to stop the bleeding. He couldn't stop the bleeding, we even had to give you some of my blood," Jason paused looking down. "You, you lost too much blood." Staring into her eyes, Katie, . . . he had to remove your uterus, he had no choice."
"Are the pups ok?"
"Yes. . . . Katie, do you understand what I said?" he said looking at her concerned.
"As long as the pups are ok, nothing else matters."
"I am so sorry," he said rubbing her hand.
"Why are you touching our mate?" Chase asked suddenly.
Jason jumped hearing his voice. Still looking at Katie, "He doesn't like me"
Laughing, "I know, he is jealous." Katie told him seriously.
Chase came to Katie's side and kissed her. "I missed you," he said hugging her.
Chance was immediately next to them, grinning like a fool. "Don't do that to me, Kitty, you scared the hell out of me." he climbed into the bed pulling her onto his chest. She nuzzled into him, hugging him."
Seeing him stretch, "Thank you for saving me, Uncle Max."
Opening his eyes, he felt so guilty. "I am so sorry Katie."
"Please don't let this bother you, Thank you so much for saving me."
"But honey"
"You did everything you could. My pups are safe. Nothing else matters."
Jason could not believe his ears. She only cared about the people around her and her pups' safety. She really was someone special.
One major problem they were having was that Katie was not hiding her ora or scent. Everyone in the hospital had figured out who she was and they were having a very hard time keeping people away from the room. So many gifts had been brought and so many people were trying to see her.
"Katie, we have to do something about getting you and these pups out of here," Jason said looking at her.
"Why?" Katie asked looking at him.
"It is not safe." Chance spoke next.
"Why are you two trying to scare me?"
"We had to put guards outside, people are trying to get to the pups. They know they are special."
Just as they were finishing, Kylie crawled up the bed and kissed her mom. Cuddling up to her she mumbled, "I missed you, mommy."
Katie looked at her baby shocked. She no longer looked like a baby. Her skin seemed to glow.
"Mommy, we need to leave here. It is not safe for you, he wants to take you." Kylie whispered into her ear. Katie froze and looked at her daughter, she nodded her head at her mom and climbed off the bed. Kylie quickly went back to where her siblings were playing, looking at her mom she said, "Mommy said to pick up your toys, we are leaving."
Jason looked at Katie confused, then back to Kylie. "Let's get you all ready then."
Chance picked up Katie taking her into the bathroom, helping her out of her hospital gown, he brought her into the shower. "Do you want help?" He asked her clearly concerned.
"Just a chair."
Shaking his head, he stripped down and climbed in with her. Very carefully he washed her. Checking her scars, he looked confused. All the marks were gone. Kissing her several times, she moaned.
"I missed that sound," He said grinning at her.
Chase soon was in the shower with them. Kissing her he started washing her hair. "I missed it too," he whispered into her ear.
Chance mind-linked Chase, "Don't do anything."
Chase mind-linked back, "I wasn't planning on it."
Having washed her, they brought her out and slowly dressed her after they dried her off. Quickly dressing, they emerged from the bathroom.
Vincent and Victor walked over to their mother, "Don't worry mommy, we are going to protect you." Smiling down at her sons, she just could not believe how mature they seemed.
"Mommy is supposed to protect you." She said caressing their cheeks.
"Nope, we are here to protect you." Came Emmett's little voice, looking at her other boys she saw Evan shaking his head in agreement. Kissing their foreheads, she smiled. How did she get such caring boys?
"Mommy, we have to go now," Kylie said getting very agitated.
Chance quickly grabbed her hand, he already put the new pups into the stroller, and pulled her out of the room. Once inside the elevator, Katie looked at him. All sorts of questions were flying through her mind but she decided to wait to ask. Katie held Kylie's hand firmly as the door opened, she had Kaylee's hand and Kaylee had Hailee's. Chance had guards awaiting them. Chase pushed the stroller, Chance had Katie, Vincent & Victor walked confidently holding each other's hand, as did Emmett & Evan walking between their father's and mother.
Once they got outside, they were swarmed by members of many packs.
"That's the Queen and King" People are bowing.
"Look at the princesses and princes," Someone says
"She has to be the breeder" someone else whispers
"No she is the moon goddesses daughter, don't you remember."
After safely getting all the pups into the awaiting cars, Katie turns to the crowd. "Thank you all for your good wishes and wonderful gifts for the pups. We appreciate you all very much but we have to leave, our safety has been threatened. Please allow the cars to pass." As she finished speaking, people backed away from the cars, waving to the large family.
It took about two hours but they were finally pulling up to their pack-house where another large crowd awaited the arrival. Dominic, Sebastian, Alexa, Rosie, Anna, Luca, & Alexander all ran up yelling "Auntie Katie, you are finally home." Jumping onto her legs & hugging her with a great force. After Katie hugged them, "Can we come to play with your kids? We want to see the new babies."
"Of course," Katie said smiling down at the eager eyes. Looking over at Alex and Lucas, "We need to talk."
