Scout fired her slingshot at the woman, but she was already gone, the ends of her cloak fluttering behind her as she ran to meet the newcomers. But her stone was only one of many projectiles suddenly filling the air. The people in black had dart guns like the one that had killed Hal. They also had needle guns like the one Seeta was firing and even more conventional guns.
“Get down!” Liam shouted, pulling Scout behind the hull of a small ship. The dogs ran to cower beside her. Seeta had fired her gun dry and ducked back into the command room to reload. Geeta was struggling with one of the people in black, her grappler fallen at her feet, but Emilie’s wrench made short work of her opponent and they too headed for cover behind another nearby ship.
