"Oh, i see" His eyes moved towards the table and without saying any other thing, he turned around to leave.
"Jace!" He heard her call and he froze in his step. His hands gradually became fists then he turned around to look at her "What did you call me?"
Sylvia gulped. Seeing his expression, all the words she wanted to say went down her throat. She didn't even know why she was like this. Why she had to call out his name. A name he wasn't bearing anymore "Ahh... I was going to say Damian. Slip of tongue" She forced a smile and walked past him to the table "I will leave tomorrow" She told him.
Before she could sit though, Damian was already in front of her. She looked at him questioningly "Why? You don't want me to?" She ached a brow seeing his eyes move as they held her gaze as if he was trying to see something.
"I will let you stay for a few more days" His voice rang out. While Sylvia was a bit surprised, she actually expected this.
"Why?" She asked, her eyes still not leaving him but he suddenly came closer. His lips curving into a smile. A kind of smile that didn't give her a good feeling.
"Didn't you say you are here to find something?"
Yes... You.
"Well, i will let you find it..." He tilted his head a little to the side "I'm curious you see... If you will succeed. I hope you do" With this, he left. Disappeared from her sights.
Sylvia fell on the chair. Her eyes closed as she processed his words. Was this a challenge then? She was confused. Having no idea what he was thinking. She stared at the food in front of her but there was no appetite anymore. She stood up and went back into her room.
The next morning, Sylvia knew she needed to explain to Gerald and the rest why she insisted on staying. But what could she say? That she found the iron claws she was searching for? It would only scare them more and make them easily give theirself away when thinking about the fact that they were under thesame roof as the man that gave them nightmares. She couldn't even start imagining what might go wrong.
"Why do you look so thoughtful? Is something wrong?" Gerald asked and she quickly shook her head with a dull smile.
"Aren't you all going to ask why we are staying?" She looked at them and they glanced at each other before Gerald spoke.
"No. We trust you. There must be a reason you decided to stay"
"We will obey and follow you" Fiona stated and she found her lips stretching at that.
"We are only here to help you if there is a need. So..." Evelyn trailed off but Sylvia got her point.
"It is good then. I will take over from here just for a while. Make sure you all try to act natural. Do not get close to anyone and report to me if anything seems off here"
"Sure" They replied.
When they left, Sylvia's eyes narrowed. Fine, since she was going to stay here, she needed to go straight to the point without wasting time but first, there was one thing she needed to do. Sylvia got into the bathroom and locked the doors then made the room soundproof. She filled up the bath tub with water but instead of going in, she closed her eyes and started to recite some spells.
Bubbles appeared in the water but soon it cleared to slowly form an image of a person "My queen"
Maria bowed slightly. She had been waiting for Sylvia to contact her and finally she did. Making phone calls wasn't safe for them and that was why they decided to stick to the old ways of reaching out to a person.
"Maria" Sylvia called "You look stressed. Is there something going on? Tell me"
"Yes, my queen. Another body was found. It's getting more frequent. Everyone feels really scared now and insecure-"
"How was it? Was it the same with the body last time?"
"No. This time around it's him. The iron claws"
Sylvia froze when she heard that. He killed a witch again. He will never stop and here she was hesitating for a second. She wondered if it was that fun for him or if his hatred for many years was still so deep.
"And the coven leaders?" Sylvia asked and saw Maria sigh.
"Amora and Monica. I think they were the ones who killed madam Kate and they are planning something behind the scenes too which i don't have the details of. They seem really determined this time my queen"
Sylvia gave a short laugh but it sounded so cold "This will be the last chance i will be giving them. They just need to cross the line to receive my wrath" Her lips curved wickedly as she looked back at Maria "You know what to do. Bring me evidence and if you don't find any..." She paused knowing how careful those two usually were "Then make one"
Sylvia got out of the bathroom only to see someone waiting on the sofa. He flashed her a smile as he stood up.
"Want to go for a walk?" Kai asked her and she nodded with a slight smile.
They walked around the neighbour hood and Sylvia was amazed at how much this place had changed in just five years. It used to be just a forest with an abandoned old house but now it wasn't. A few people now lived here and even families.
"I feel like you are here for something. Like it wasn't a coincidence that you came to leave with us" Kai suddenly said making Sylvia stop walking as she looked at him with narrowed eyes.
"Why do you think so?"
"I told you i could see the future of a person. I can tell when something is a coincidence or... fate"
"Fate..." The words left her lips and she sighed as they continued their walk.
"If you truly can see the future then... What did you see about me?"
"Alot" He replied. It was exactly what he told her the last time and this time, she didn't think that he was joking. Even if he was, she would just go with the flow.
"Was it bad?" She asked curiously. She was never curious about the future because she knew that she wasn't born with a good fate anyway. Everyday, when she wakes up, she expects her day to be worse than the last and it usually was. Being queen didn't make it easy for her either.
Kai smiled but didn't say anything but that was all the answer she needed. At least now she knew not to expect anything.
Sylvia stopped walking and Kai turned to her to give her a questioning look.
"I like Damian" Said Sylvia out of no where. Kai's eyes widened when he processed her words and only when she walked past him did he get back to his senses.
"Wait... What?!" He quickly rushed to her front to stop her from walking forward "You really like Damian?" He asked her.
"Why do you seem so surprised?"
"Wouldn't it be weird if i wasn't?"
Sylvia laughed. "It's true that i like him but he's so cold you know. I feel like my feelings are going to be unrequited"
"But you haven't even tried" Seeing the slight sadness in her eyes. Determination flashed in Kai's eyes "I will help you. Damian is not all that difficult if you get close to him"
"Really?" She forced a smile. She could see the excitement in the boy's heart and instantly felt bad for manipulating him like this. She was blatantly lying to him yet he believed her every word without a single doubt. Was he really that naive? She doubted it.
"But... When did you start to like him? Did you guys meet somewhere before?"
"No" She answered quickly "I only fell for him last night"
Kai was speechless at her reply. He was curious what exactly happned the last night that she fell for him. Did his brother perhaps do something to make her heart flutter? A look of understanding flashed past his eyes.
The sound of an engine made them look ahead and Sylvia could see a black motor cycle heading their way. This time, she wasn't on the road. She watched calmly as the motorcycle stopped before them and the man on it took off his helmet to reveal a devilishly handsome face. His dark hair fell all over his face and she found herself just... staring.
Sylvia didn't know why but she found herself gulping when he fixed his gaze on her. She usually wasn't easily oppressed like this but he just seemed different. He was able to make her feel alot of things she usually didn't.
It was only when she came out of her daze that she noticed he wasn't the only one on the motorcycle. There was someone else. She could see fair hands holding onto him and they moved to take off the helmet too.
Purple hair which was obviously dyed was revealed. It was a girl and somehow, Sylvia didn't feel good about this.
"Hi, Kai" The girl grinned. She was quite pretty.
"Dora?" Kai seemed completely surprised and taken aback. He shared a gaze with Sylvia before looking back at the girl.
