Oymyakon was one of the few worlds that had to be serviced by intergalactic railway because of the persistent storms that made shuttle landings too dangerous in most conditions. The first time Ritchie had flown to the Oymyakon Foreign Service Academy, the railway had descended through the atmosphere on the far side of the continent then snaked its way through mountains and over barren terrain, circling the worst of the hurricanes in a meandering journey that had taken days.
So she was more than a bit surprised when she woke early the next morning to find not only had they arrived at the planet, they were nearly at their destination. No long days of hanging out with her friends on the train, eating food they weren"t going to be getting at the academy and catching up after the long break.
