CHAPTER 5 - Drinking Competition

930 Words
Katelyn POV I woke up and prepare early for today. Last night, I barely slept because of anxiety. Now it felt like Lucas giving me a time bomb. Even though we already had a contract, what happened last night showed me that we’re still in danger with each passing day. I have to quickly make Mason fall for me. I put on a grey pencil skirt with a white sleeveless top. When I reach for my bag, I saw the suit that Mason put on me last night. A smile crept on my face. His suit still had his manly smell, I shook my head and put the suit in the paper bag. On my way to the office, I bought some coffee for Mason and me. Today, I decided to treat him with a nice coffee and not instant coffee from the pantry. It was still early in the office, I only saw a few people. I decided to visit the marketing section on the 10th floor to pick up some files. I stopped at the elevator when a woman rushed towards me. I hold the elevator door for her. She has long, straight black hair and big eyes. Not to mention a body to die for. She was effortlessly beautiful without too much makeup. “Thanks! Are you new here? I never saw you before.” She said while smiling at me. I shook her hand, “No problem. Yes, I’m Kate…Mr. Prince’s new secretary.” She nods at me. “Nice to meet you, Kate. I’m Kimora. What are you doing on the marketing floor? Maybe I could help.” She offered to help me. “I was looking for a sales report from last year.” I followed her to the file cabinets. “This is the report for each quarter. You could take a look at these.” She said while handing me a few files. “Wow, thanks! Couldn’t do this without you.” I said. She winked at me then leaves. I was managed to get back before Mason came. As he strode in, I was shocked to see him coming with Kimora to his room. “I think they still had feelings for each other.” Suddenly Kevin said suspiciously while drinking his coffee. Kevin was the company GM and his room just beside Mason. So technically, it’s only the three of us on this floor. “Did they?” I asked in low volume.” Uh-huh…They have dated for two years. One day Kimora suddenly wanted to broke up.” He explains. Seducing Mason itself was already a challenge for me. At this stage, I don’t need another competitor. I looked at my watch. They’ve been inside that room for 2 hours. Two freaking hours! What could they possibly talk about that long? I moved closer and put my ears on the door, I can’t hear anything! I was getting frustrated. Then suddenly, the door click opened. I stumbled, and before I fall, Mason catches me. “Kate?” He was shocked to see me. Kimora was still focusing on the file then suddenly got distracted by my appearance. “Umm…Sorry. I – I…Just want to remind you about the meeting with Mr.Thompson.” I smiled awkwardly at him. “But yesterday I told you we will cancel the contract with them, remember?” I gave him a puzzled look. “And you can get up now, Ms. Page…” How embarrassed I did not realize that my body still holding onto him. “Sorry, Mr. Prince…” I quickly stood up. I saw Kimora chuckled from behind. “Do you have plans for tonight, Kate?” Kimora suddenly asked. “No, why?” I ask, confused. “You should come with us, my friends just opened a new bar.” She said excitedly. I was silent for a while. “I don’t want to bother you both,” I pretended like I didn’t want to go. “Nonsense! The more, the merrier.” Kimora said. So tonight, I’m going to be a third wheel. Great! Mason took us in his car. Kimora was seated on the front row beside Mason, and I was at the back. They both chatting along the ride to the bar. It was so obvious even to the blind person that they still had chemistry. I was sulking at the back, hoping that we can quickly arrive at the bar. The bar is so extravagant, and not every people can enter this club. We were seated at the VIP table, and suddenly a man in an all-black outfit puts both of his hands on Kimora’s eyes. “Liam, is that you?” Kimora said, guessing. Then she turned around and hugging the man named Liam. “This is your friend?” Liam asked, still putting one of his arms to Kimora’s shoulder. “Liam, this is Mason and Kate. They’re my coworkers.” Liam smiled at us, then said. “All drinks on me tonight! And the bartender started to serve us alcohol. I saw Kimora keeps gulping alcohol. My competitive spirit tells me to follow along, and I can’t afford to lose from her in front of Mason. Suddenly, it turns into a drinking competition between both of us. The crowd started cheering at us. I lose count of how many glasses I have. “Kate, you should stop!” Mason said while grabbing the glass from my hand. I shook it off and kept drinking. After a few more glasses, I saw Kimora passed out. People start cheering at me. I stand on the table and shouting like a crazy person. I felt so dizzy and losing my balance. “That’s enough, Kate! Let’s go home.” The next thing I know, I felt Mason hoists me up from the table and leaving the bar.
