Chapter 18

Devon's POV

"So what do you expect me to do now? Abandon my pack and join you?" Samika asks Arnold. And Arnold actually looks even bigger than me. No wonder he is one of The Madfurs.

"I don't know. Maybe," he smirks.

I see it in Samika's face. I see a small smile breaking on her face.

"This means nothing, for God sake" she mindlinks me but I can feel that he already started to woo her just because she is his new Alpha. I know how these assholes work just to climb the social ladder.

"I know this pack means a lot to you. But we waited for two decades and more for our Alpha to finally reach us. Now that we reached her, we wouldn't stop here. We will do everything we can, to make her trust us," Ivy says this time. I could make Samika jealous but Ivy looks older and she is not that beautiful to be honest.

"I'll think about it and let you know," Samika says in a dismissive tone and thank heavens she finally stopped with this stupid discussion. It is only starting to grow irritated.

They dropped the address as to where to find them if needed. I don't think I am letting Samika go there to them. No f*****g way. If I let her go now, then it is a sad fact.. but that will be it. She will form a real connection with them. Who knows, she might even have her cousins there. She might have her own blood related people. The more people she is going to allow in her life, the farther she is going to push me away. So yes, there is no way in hell I am letting her go. Especially not when she is mentally scared about something she wouldn't even say.

As soon as they left, I let a growl out. I bet Samika heard it but she is ready to act as if she hadn't and that is making me even more crazy.

I walk out along with her and she finally turns around to look at me, after reaching the pack house. Until then she didn't even glance at me for a second.

"Why are you this possessive? I am your f*****g mate," Samika tells me and this time, I roll my eyes. It's her job usually but I would gladly take pleasure in that for now.

"But he is working his charm on you. And you are falling for that too," I tell Samika.

"So make me forget it," Samika says as she walks towards me and places her hands on my chest.

I know what she is talking about but I act dumb on purpose. It's already noon and we skipped breakfast thanks to the discussion earlier with the Madfurs. And I bet she and I will be skipping lunch as well. Or maybe I can cook for her after a round of s*x.

I lift Samika up in my arms and she squeals at the sudden move. She chuckles as I take her to the bedroom.

"I will have my way with you this time. You have been a very very naughty girl, love" I tell her and watch her bite her bottom lip in anticipation.

Only if she knew what ways I had in my mind for her.

I watch Samika, as she is peacefully sleeping beside me. I don't want her to go and mingle with The Madfurs. She is one of them so it's only a matter of time she finds real connection with them.

Once she is totally into The Madfur zone, then she would be my enemy rather than the one I love. Because I cannot abandon my pack. Not when her father and my father were rivals and fought with each other for more than half of their lives.

I don't know what to do. There is too much on our plates and all I know is that we have to work faster to see where this ends up.

"Your spies contacted," Tyler mindlinks me and I look at Samika, who is still sleeping.

I get up from the bed, very carefully and walk out. Just to be careful. I grab a bottle of water from the fridge as I mindlink Tyler back.

"What did they say?" I ask him.

"They caught John Adams," he tells me.

I clench my hand into a fist and fist bump into the air in a mini celebration kind of thing.

"Make sure Samika doesn't know about it. I will deal with him on my own," I mindlink Tyler again.

And now, I need to work on eliminating everything that is on my plate. Maybe I will start with John Adams before he spills more than what he already knows.
