Why would she say that?

Harley I felt like I had been in here for hours emptying box after box, I didn't even remember packing half of this stuff. I pulled the strip of tape off from the bottom of the box and flattened it dropping it onto the pile I had already emptied. I thought a five-minute break was well and truly due, I wanted to go down and check on Lee to make sure she was settling in ok, after all, this was all new to the both of us. I made my way down to the fourth floor and knocked on her door but she didn't answer. I waited patiently for a moment before knocking again, but still nothing. I opened the door slowly and called out to her, maybe she had gone for a soak in the tub. still, nothing, stepping inside the room I looked around and she was nowhere to be seen. Her case was still on the bed, it had been opened but most of her clothes were still folded neatly inside of it. I left closing the door behind me, maybe she had gone to look around the house or for a walk outside. Either way, I was a bit miffed she had gone exploring without me. Anyway, I still had clothes to put away before Archer returned to the room I just knew he wasn't going to be happy with the state of it still. I was left with two bags of clothing, but as I stood looking at the already jam-packed closet I had no idea where I was going to put these. I exhaled loudly as I dropped the two bags onto the floor scanning every shelf that was left for me. There was no room at all. Huffing in annoyance I turned around and noticed Archer's clothes all folded neatly and tidy in small piles beneath all the smarter clothes hanging on the rails above. He had loads of room if he just put these into three piles instead of six small piles. "Thankyou Archer" I whispered to myself as I began moving his piles around making room for my things. Finally, I had emptied every single bag and box, I looked between my side and Archers, Yes, mine was a little bit messier but everything had a place. I jumped as someone cleared their throat behind me. Red stood in the closet doorway, looking around the room with his mouth wide open. "What on earth?" he gasped, as his eyes flitted around the room they eventually landed on me. Clearing his throat he adjusted his posture, "Did you do this?" he asked in a staggered voice. "Yeah," I placed my hand on my hip and looked around the room proudly. "I had to pinch a little of Archer's shelf but I don't think he will mind, I did good right?" I asked happily. "Well, it's quite something," he smiled politely but I knew he was lying. "I have been asked to give this to you and inform you dinner will be ready in one hour, I will come back and escort you down if you like." I took the brown envelope from him, "Ok, thankyou." He bowed his head slightly and turned to leave. "Oh Red" I called rushing out of the closet only just stopping him as he got to the door. "Have you seen Leah at all? I went to her room but she wasn't there" "Yes she was in the office with Alpha the last I saw" he answered then turned to leave abruptly. I wasn't sure why he was in a rush to leave, I hope I hadn't offended him in any way. I spent the next hour laid on the bed going through all the plans Archer had in store for back home. If all this was true I could now understand why my father was so adamant about this plan to work out. This was going to change the whole economy, Housing for the homeless, more hospitals, and access to free healthcare. Plans for schools and childcare for working parents, Factories to produce more materials and food so we weren't waiting on supplies to be brought in from abroad which meant there would be more jobs, meaning more families were going to be so much better off. It all made so much sense that I wondered why this hadn't already been done. I know the king was a complete ass but surely something like this would have benefitted him more than anything and made him look so much better to everyone on the outside. There was a loud knock on the door breaking me away from the pages I still had left to read. "Come in" I called as I stuffed everything back into the envelope and slid it under my pillow. "Lunch is ready" I looked up to see Red standing in the doorway. "Thankyou, I'm coming" I got up and walked towards him. "I've also just received a call from Jasmine, she will be here within the hour for your dress fitting, I have everything set up for you in one of the spare rooms on the first floor." "Ok," I nodded as I walked out of the room closing the door behind me. I followed quietly, Red walked alot slower than Archer giving me more time to look around as we passed each floor. He led the way through a long corridor, the further we walked the stronger the most delicious smell I had ever smelt filled my nostrils. "Just in here, I will let you know when Jasmine arrives" Red turned with such elegance and pushed open a large brown door. "Thankyou" I smiled as I stepped inside the room. A large diamond chandelier hung above a very large dark wooden rectangular table, with so many chairs positioned around it I couldn't count because my attention was drawn to the high-pitched tone of Leah's laugh. Archer sat in one of the taller chairs at the head of the table and Lee was sitting beside him, her hand resting on his arm as she leaned into him laughing. If I didn't know any better I would have thought she was flirting, who was I trying to kid, there was no doubt I had seen her in action before, she was indeed flirting with him. "Harley" Archer spoke as he quickly stood from his seat. Lee bolted upright and straightened her posture now displaying a more serious look that drained the redness from her cheeks. Archer pulled out the chair on the other side of him for me to take a seat. "I'm sorry, I wasn't interrupting the two of you was I?" I looked between the two of them, "Not at all," Archer answered. There was no time for chit-chat as the food was swiftly served. Two women came out carrying two plates in both hands. We each had a plate placed in front of us containing some fancy pasta, then another plate was placed in the centre containing warm bread rolls, the smell of the fresh bread reminded me of my mother, she used to cook fresh bread for us all the time. "I hope the food is to your liking Luna" the young brunette spoke softly next to me as she bowed her head. "It looks delicious, thankyou" She blushed hearing my response yet kept her eyes on the ground before bolting back to the kitchen door. "I can ask Red to help clear the rest of your things away whilst you're with Jasmine if you need help," Archer said, I looked at him confused, why would he think I was incapable of doing it myself? "Sorry, I let slip you were a bit of a slob" Lee laughed. Then she placed her hand back onto Archer's arm and leaned closer again, "But she has got alot better, she always replaces the toilet roll now instead of leaving it to me. But she will not pick up her dirty washing" she laughed. I was dumbfounded listening to her, was she just seeing how much she could embarrass me on m first day here? why was she saying these things? "It's fine, It's all done" I snapped. Then I remembered the pile of boxes I had left in the room, I must move them before he sees them. "That's good, I could have asked Red to help you" Archer offered. "I'm a big girl, I can sort my own things thankyou" I had to force a smile on my face, why did I feel like a third wheel here? I ate as fast as I could wanting to get out of this room. The two of them spoke amongst themselves mainly about Lee's work and her influence in her office. I had about enough as I could handle so I stood from my seat and picked up my plate. "Everything ok?" Archer looked up at me through his creased brow. "Yes, everything is just perfect" I answered sarcastically. The sound of feet scurrying towards me from the kitchen caught my attention, it was the same girl who served my food, "Please, let me do that" she said in a panicky tone as she took the plate from me and stepped back bowing her head. "Thankyou, it was delicious" I complimented her, my frustration wasn't aimed at her so I didn't want her to think I was being rude, something told me she wasn't the most confident person. Both Lee and Archer looked at me strangely, neither saying a word. So I turned on my heel and left the room swiftly. I followed the corridor Red brought me through praying I was heading in the right direction in this maze of a place. I finally breathed a sigh of relief as the stairs came into view, I jogged up as many as I could before I was out of breath. I had to move the boxes and make sure the room was in order, I didn't want him to believe I was a slob, how dare Lee say that in the first place. Anger fueled me keeping me at a good pace to my room on the fifth floor. I stopped to see the door was slightly open, I specifically remember Archer saying he didn't like people in there so I knew it should have been empty. Not wanting to go all the way back down the stairs to get him I decided to be brave and peek inside. "Hello?" I called. "I'm in here" I jumped, not expecting an answer. It was Red who answered and it sounded like it came from the closet. "What are you do...?" I stopped as I stepped inside. Red was just closing a drawer and stood with a smile on his face. I looked around the room at how perfect it was, how had he managed to put everything away and leave me extra room on my side? It was just as neat and tidy as Archer's side, Red held his hands up in the air, "I'm sorry if you feel I have overstepped any boundaries but...." I jumped toward him making him flinch as I wrapped my arms around him. "You have no idea how grateful I am right now, thankyou so much, gosh, I could kiss you" I squeezed him harder with excitement. "Please don't, I would like to remain amongst the living" I laughed at his response as I released him and looked around at his beautiful work. "Now let us dispose of these bags and boxes and get you downstairs, Jasmine has just arrived." "How do you know that from all the way up here?" I asked him genuinely interested. "Lycan hearing my lovely, it never lets me down" "Oh" I should have figured that out by myself, but he just didn't seem like a typical Lycan. "And may I say, I heard what your friend said about you, I have the talent for reading people, and that is no true friend of yours, be careful around that one." "We've been friends since school, I don't think she realises what she is saying at times" Why on earth was I defending her? "Ok, I am sorry if I am wrong about her" Red spoke as he handed me the bags to carry. He took the boxes and I headed towards the door. "Here my lovely" he called me over to one of the windows opening it he threw everything out including the bags I was holding. "Jonty, be a love and put them in the trash for me" I raised my brows looking at him in shock. "Don't think I'm carrying these all the way down, if Alpha doesn't want things thrown from the windows he needs to install an elevator" I laughed at his response as he linked his arm through mine and walked me downstairs.
