As we reached the first floor, Red escorted me down a grey carpeted hallway. I could see one of the doors ahead of us open ready for us to enter. I walked in looking around at the room full of people. Why were there so many people?
"Oh great your here" Lee's voice called over all the talking as she suddenly appeared from behind a manequin. "Where did you go?" she asked as she gave me her best caring look.
I didn't want to make a scene and ask her what her problem was and why she felt the need to belittle me in front of people. Instead, I ignored her and turned to the tall, elegant looking woman in a cream-coloured pantsuit walking toward me with a broad smile on her face."Jasmine, this is the one and only Harley who you will be working with tonight". Red introduced me,
"Hello, it's lovely to finally meet you. I am Jasmine Biloski," she bowed her head and curtseyed.
"Nice to meet you and thank you for doing all of this". I looked around the room at everyone, each person busy. Obviously, they all had their orders to follow.
"I would do this every day if my clients paid me what your fiance does" she laughed. There was something about her that I liked. She was a strong woman, one with an attitude that I could respect. She turned around to everyone in the room and clapped her hands. "Now everybody. leave the room, I need to speak alone with the future Luna." She shooed everyone out of the room. Red was first to leave giving my arm a gentle squeeze as he left me. But I could feel Lee looking at me as she followed everyone out. I chose to look away until I had figured out what I was going to say to her, then I heard Jasmine close the door behind me.
"I'm sorry for having so many people here. I know how stressful it can be the day before a wedding, especially when it has been planned as quickly as this. I don't want to add more pressure on you," she said as she pushed a golden-colored platform in front of me and turned to open a large case that stood over six feet tall.
"Thankfully, Archer has taken care of most of it. I think this is the only role I have. Find a dress that fits me and turn up tomorrow", I joked as I stood on pretty raised platform.
"Well, I'm pleased he left the important part for you. God knows what you will be walking down the aisle in if you let a man choose your dress." She wasn't wrong, Jasmine pulled out three different bags containing what I think are dresses. "I have some gowns here for you to look at. I can alter them if needed each one was designed and hand crafted by myself. I apologies if they are not to your liking, but Archer didn't really give me any likes or dislikes of yours, so I experimented a little," she explained as she began unzipping the bags. "Of course, if you don't like any of them, we can start from scratch which is why the team are on standby."
The first was an ivory netted, off the shoulder dress with a lot of detail. It was indeed very beautiful, the second was white and way to plain for my liking, I wasn't too keep on this one. Then she opened the third one. I gasped, standing in awe at what I considered my dream dress, how could she have known. "I like the sound of that" she turned and smiled like she knew how in love I was with it.
"This one is like my perfect dress, it is just, perfect, and you made this yourself?" I asked her in amazement, she obviously had such talent.
"This one was a project I did a while back. When Archer asked me to make a dress for you he wanted a plain and simple base. It was to give you the option of adding your own personality to the dress, so, I pulled this one out of storage and thought I would make a few alterations and before I knew it I had changed the whole dress. It must be fate," she looked me up and down.
"I think it will be a pretty good fit too. she spoke whilst concentrating as she pulled a tape measure out of her pocket and began measuring me all over. "Perfect fit actually" she added as she looked one last time at her tape measure. "Shall we try it on?" she began lifting the train out of the bottom of the bag and freeing the sides of the hanger.
"Yes please" I said excitedly. I lifted my dress off over my head and discarded it on the floor, just like Lee said I did, but I didn't care.
Jasmine put her arms through and stood on the platform beside me to drop the dress over my head. "This is a white off the-shoulder train tulle lace dress. I added some diamonds to the netted sleeve bodice and train." I stood still while Jasmine began buttoning the back of the dress. the front held my boobs in place perfectly. The fabric dipped between my breast just enough to see how good my boobs were without showing too much skin. I slipped my arms into the netting of the sleeves which started just below my shoulders.
"The train does detach, so it makes it easier to move around at the afterparty. Jasmine walked around me and fluffed out the bottom placing the train perfectly behind me. "How do you feel in it?" she asked as she wheeled a floor-length mirror in front of me.
"Wow" I gasped as I looked at my reflection, hardly recognizing myself. "I love it" I said in barely a whisper as I turned slightly to get a glimpse of the back.
"There is still plenty of time to add some bits if you wish" she asked looking at the smile on my face.
I shook my head, "No, I like it just the way it is, you truly are talented."
"Well this was easier than I expected" she laughed. I looked back in the mirror at myself as the smile slowly faded from my blushed cheeks. Why was I happy in this dress? It was fake, all of this was fake. Whoever my real future husband was going to be, he would never see me happy in my dream dress. "Is everything OK?" I felt Jasmine's hand on mine as a tear left my eye and trickled down my cheek. She pulled a tissue out from her pocket and handed it to me.
"Yes, just nerves about tomorrow" I lied looking down at the dress one last time.
"You know, I was in your shoes this time last year, worried sick I was making the biggest mistake of my life. But I have Archer to thank for the life I have now" I looked at her seeing the huge diamond she wore on her wedding finger.
"Archer?" I asked, wanting to know more.
"Yes, It was nearly two years ago now Archer asked me to go for a drink with him to a local bar where he was meeting some friends. I was suppose to be making all their suits for some snooty tooty ball they were going to. That was when Archer introduced me to Garrett, I was so happy to be his mate but my family hated him, they didn't want me to have anything to do with a Lycan after what happened to me, but he soon won them around. It wasn't easy but he knew he found a good thing" she winked with a smile on her face.
"What happened to you? sorry if it's too personal you don't have to answer" This poor woman was getting the third degree from me.
"I was attacked by a Rogue Lycan when I was leaving work one night, I lived back in your territory. When the authorities found out what had happened they dumped my body over the wall onto Archers land. Probably thought I would die and get eaten by one of the savages" she used her fingers as air quotes. "Long story short, I transitioned and somehow survived the change. My body was weak and I was in and out of consciousness, but I did it with the help of Archer and all his medical team. I've been here ever since, my family didn't know what had happened to me at first and I was too ashamed to tell them the truth. But, I had to come clean when the engagement came out, and now. You couldn't pay me to go back across the border it changes your whole perspective on life being here"
"Gosh I'm so sorry that happened to you" My heart broke thinking of her all alone and in pain. But I was pleased she found happiness here.
"Can I ask you a personal question? " she nodded. "What's it like being married to a Lycan?" I wanted to know, after all who else was I going to ask?
"Like something you have never experienced in your entire life," she laughed as she pulled out a tray of tiara's "Trust me when I say, you will never have to worry about anything, Archer will treat you like a queen, I promise you that" she smiled as she placed a tiara on my head. "Perfect" she said excitedly as we both looked in the mirror at my reflection, she was right it was perfect.
It just wasn't real.
