Interview

~Five and a half years Later~ (Skyler) I have found out so much about the supernatural world thanks to Nidia. Nidia and I became good friends just six months before we both graduated from med school. The day of our graduation, we went out to eat to celebrate. That’s when she revealed her secret to me. She told me she was a werewolf, so I took advantage of it. I found out that the supernatural world also has a law firm where different kinds of supernatural creatures work there. When I heard the name, I was stunned. The Crescent Law is one of the most badass law firms in the world and, to my surprise, it was formed by supernatural creatures. No human has ever worked in that firm. This morning, when I woke up I saw a text from Nidia telling me I had an interview at Crescent Law, so here I am. Sitting in front of me are four males and one female. There is one seat that’s empty. All five of them are going through my resume and all the cases I have handled since I have been a lawyer. “It says here you’re a double major?” the female, Gloria, asks. “Yes, ma’am. I couldn’t decide between law school or med school, so I decided to do both” I said truthfully, making all five of them look at me with wide eyes. “Wow, it must have been hard”, one of the older males, Trevor says. “It was, sir, but it was worth it” I said truthfully, and he nodded. “Well, Miss Morales, we are very impressed with everything we see. We would like to have you in our team, but we want you to know that we don’t let just anybody join Crescent Law. With that said, we would like to know something. There’s a small but very important note here that says that you know about our kind. How did you find out about us?” Gloria asks. “Personal experience. I… uh… I dated a werewolf” I said truthfully. “Did you know he was a werewolf?” Trevor asked. “Not at first, sir, but after a year he revealed his secret to me” I said. “Have you told anyone?” Mr. Kempt said. “No, sir. I would have been thrown into the psychiatric ward. Not to mention, I don’t think humans would react in a good way if they knew about the supernatural. But most importantly, it is not my secret to tell. I’m a human that knows about your world. I find it incredible, and I want to work in the best law firm in the world. Nothing more, nothing less” I said. “Okay, well, we love what we see, and we can’t wait to see what you bring to the table. Ariana will give you your new badge and show you to your office. You will be in Mr. Locklear’s team”, Gloria said. “Thank you very much for this opportunity” I said. “Have a good rest of the day, and we will see you tomorrow”, Gloria smiled. I nodded before following Ariana out to her desk. “We should start with your badge. I will need a picture of you” she said, gesturing for me to stand in front of a white wall. She takes my picture and a couple of minutes later she gives me a new badge. “Please follow me” she said. I followed her to a door and she opened it. “This will be your office. Your team leader is Mr. Locklear and his office is just right there. Welcome to the company” Ariana says. “Thank you” I smiled. “You can look around if you like. I should get back to work. I have to go find a case file for you tomorrow”, Ariana said. “No problem. I will see you tomorrow”, I told her. She leaves, and I look around in my new office. It’s much bigger than my office at the Jenkins Law Firm. Once I’m down, I take my phone out and dial Nidia’s number as I’m walking to the elevator. “Hey, how did it go?” Nidia asks as soon as she answers the phone. “It went great. I got the job” I said. The doors to the elevator opened and a tall, muscular, and handsome man looked up from his phone and looked at me. My heart pounds hard as he steps out and passes by me. I stepped into the elevator. “I knew you were going to get it. Let’s go celebrate” Nidia says. “Sure, let’s go to lunch” I said. “Okay, that Italian place?” she asks. “Yes. I’ll meet you there. I have to go. I’m in the elevator”, I said as the elevator doors closed. I looked up to see the same man still looking at me. I hit the button for the lobby and just waited. When the door opened, I straightened my shoulders and walked out of the elevator with my head held high. I walked out of the lobby and went to my car. I revved the engine and put on my seatbelt before heading to the restaurant where I would be meeting Nidia. Traffic is light, so it took me fifteen minutes to arrive at the restaurant. “Mommy!” I heard my sweet angel call. “Kaleb, how is my sweet boy?” I asked, hugging my son. Yes, I ended up pregnant after that horrible night with my ex. At first, it was hard to accept that I was pregnant. After Nidia told me her secret, I told her what happened with my ex and what he did to me. That’s when she told me about werewolf pregnancy and that I was only going to be pregnant six months. Nidia was the one who helped me when I went into labor. She never left my side and even after I went through postpartum depression for a couple of weeks. During my depression she took care of my son, and I’m thankful to the end. “I’m good, mami. Aunt Nidia says you got the job” he says. “I did,” I smiled. “I’m so proud of you, mami” he smiles and hugs me again. I have such a smart, sweet boy. Nidia hugs me and the three of us head inside. Once we are seated, we order our drinks and some garlic bread. “So tell me what they did say” Nidia asks. “They were impressed with my resume and, not to mention, my double major. I start work tomorrow”, I told her. “Wow, that was fast” Nidia says. “Yes, they were already looking for a case for me when I left”, I tell her and she grins. We order our food, then I turned to my son. “So you had a half of a day today. What did you do at school?” I asked him. “The teacher had us write our names, we counted, and colored as she read to us” he says. “Wow, what did you color?” I asked. “I made a picture of us. I have it in my backpack and I helped other students with writing their names”, Kaleb says. “That’s good baby. You are such a sweet boy. I’m so proud of you”, I said, kissing his cheek and he blushed. We eat our lunch and when we’re done we head to my apartment. “Thanks for lunch, Sky. If you want, I can pick up Kaleb tomorrow after school since I have the morning shift”, Nidia said. “That would be great, thanks” I said. “No problem. I’m going to go now. I have to wash some clothes” she says. “Yeah, I have to do the same” I told her holding back a groan.
