I looked at my phone as it rang for the hundredth time today. I sigh as I get up before picking it up. I see on the caller ID that it’s my sister, and she’s calling me by video. I can’t let her see me like this. She has no idea of what happened, and she’ll just think it’s her fault. I decline the call and call her normally.
“Hello? Skyler?” she calls. I could hear the worry in her voice.
“Hey” I said, licking my dry lips. My bottom lip hurts since it's busted.
“Skyler, where have you been? I’ve been trying to call you for days, and you won’t return any of my calls”, my older sister, Blair shouts through the phone. I wince and move my phone away from my ear. When she's done shouting, I move the phone back to my ear.
“Please don’t shout. I have a massive headache. I have been working on an important case”, I lied and she sighed.
“I’m sorry, I was just worried. How is everything going with school?” she asked. Before I became a lawyer, I was in school. I was doing a double major because I couldn’t decide between law school or med school, so I did both, and I’m about to graduate with my PhD.
“It’s going good. Hectic, but good” I said. That was the truth.
“You don’t sound okay. Are you sure you’re not lying to me?” she asks. She could always tell when I wasn't feeling well, but she had no idea how bad I am right now, yet, I'm not going to tell her, at least not yet.
“No, I’m just exhausted” I lied again.
“I’m sorry I canceled meeting your boyfriend again. I’m just busy, but I promise I will get there eventually to meet him” she said.
“Don’t worry about it. I ended things with him a few days ago” I said truthfully.
“What? Why? I thought things were good with the both of you” she said.
“I thought so too, but I found out he was cheating on me. Not to mention, I started feeling like he wasn’t the one for me”, I said, leaving out the horrific stuff he did to me when I broke things off and refused to marry him. He showed his true colors to me.
“I’m sorry. You deserve better” she says. I don;t feel like I do, but right now I'm just going to focus on other things. I don't want anything to do with relationships right now.
“Thanks, but right now I just want to focus on my career and school” I said.
“I understand” she said.
“Are you coming over for the holidays?” I asked.
“I wish I could kiddo, but I have a lot of work, but I promise I will make it up to you” she said. I was starting to get a headache for real.
“Okay. I have to go, Blair. I still have a lot of work to do”, I lied again. I felt like s**t for lying to her and I know that when I tell her the truth she will be angry with me for not telling her when it happened, but I'll deal with it later.
“Okay, good luck in your case” she says before hanging up the phone. I sighed and placed my cell phone on the coffee table, then walked to the bathroom and splashed some water on my face. I gently wipe my face not to hurt my wounds and bruises, I look at myself in the mirror.
“And here I thought he actually loved me” I chuckled dryly. Someone who really loves you or cares about you would never hurt you like this. For a while I was feeling like he wasn’t the one for me, then I found out that he was cheating on me, so I ended things with him at the same time he asked me to marry him. That night… that night was the worst night of my life. He beat me and even forcefully took my virginity, then beat me even more, but there was something else. His face changed. He was more animalistic. Fur began to come out of his body. Every thrust he forced into me tore me apart even more. I will never forget the look on his face as he finished inside me. He was half beast half human. I felt disgusted and weak. When he pulled out, he finished turning into a massive wolf.
I passed out after that. When I woke up, he was gone, and I had been cleaned up and placed on my bed. It was as if he was never there. The only evidence of what happened were the cuts and bruises on my face and the pain and bleeding between my legs. I had to call off of work for a few days saying that I was sick and for my school assignments to be sent to my email. I have read many supernatural books in my life. I love things like that to pass the time, but never in my life did I ever think it was real, not until I saw it with my own eyes. If there’s one out there, then there has to be more. I met Billy at school, so there could be more of them in school. I wonder if silver really works. I guess there is only one way to find out and one day I will make sure he pays for what you did to me. I promise you that.
I went back to my bedroom and lay back down on the bed wincing in pain. I turn on the TV in my bedroom. I turned to my left, looking at the knife next to me. I closed my eyes and let darkness overtake me.
