[Scanning of the dimensional space is complete. Do you want to view the result of the scanned dimension?]
Cain snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the mechanical voice of the sage in his head.
'Yes.'
[The dimensional space is a vast darkness. Its current depth is unknown and you are currently falling towards the deepest part that I can scan from where you were earlier.]
‘By that you mean that you can’t figure out how deep and wide this dimension is?’
Cain was flabbergasted by what he heard. He was about to ophis mouth and speak when he heard the mechanical’s voice and it sounded as if it was in a hurry.
[Currently sensing a life force in an unidentifiable depth below!]
‘Wait, what?! What do you mean?’ Cain started to panic after hearing the sage’s warning. He remembered the creature which this dimensional space’s owner.
Cain could only stare at the darkness as he thought of what the sage said earlier. ‘The oldest dragon in this continent.’
[Sensing the incredible life force of an Ancient Dragon in a close distance from below. Approximate depth is still unidentifiable.] Another warning blew up inside Cain’s head. He was getting nervous as he started to feel an enormous presence right below him.
Although there wasn't any wind as he fell, he instinctively knew that he had stopped falling. And it was because he heard a voice. this time it didn’t come from his head, but it permeated into his ears.
“It looks like a newborn child. I can already guess who and how you ended up here.”
Upon hearing the voice, Cain could feel his entire being unable to move and his heart pounding harder than ever.
“Hmm. I permit you to speak and move, child.” The voice that couldn’t be determined as deep or shallow spoke once again. And from the moment on, Cain could feel his sense of touch returning along with his other senses that seemed to have been blocked the moment he entered this eternal darkness.
“What is your name?” The Ancient Dragon asked him a question.
It was a rather easy-to-answer question but for Cain it was the hardest question to answer at this time.
He contemplated if he should give his former name, ‘Cain’, because he was yet to be given a name before he was disposed of or if he should just say that very fact.
“I think I heard your father call you Yohan.” The Ancient Dragon spoke when a few moments passed and Cain was still unable to answer.
“Called me Yohan?” Cain whispered subconsciously.
“H-mm, After dropping you in the gate he opened another one and spoke the name Yohan. Isn’’t that your name?” The Ancient Dragon seemed to be in deep thought.
Although Cain has regained his five senses he still couldn’t see anything in the vast darkness that engulfed him since he entered. And because of that he couldn’t see the dragon that was speaking to him.
“...” Cain fell into a long silence after learning that his father in his second lifetime, who mercilessly threw his newborn son away without hesitation, gave him a name right after disposing of him.
“Let me tell you something, child. Some people might not be as heartless and cold as you think. I can say this as I have known a few people who hide their softness in order to protect the people they cared for even if it meant hurting them in the process. And of course, there are some who got betrayed and hurt and lost their emotions and just learnt how to use their heart a lot less. Now, I will ask you. which do you think of the two that your father fell to?”
“...” Just like before, Cain couldn’t speak a word. Simply because he still doesn't know his father.
“Hah, but I guess you really are a peculiar existence after all. A newborn baby being able to speak. Ha! What a fascinating experience indeed. This is the first time in my thousands of years of my life that I ever encountered a child like you.”
And just then did Cain realise that he had made a grave mistake. And for the first time in a while, he felt a breeze brushing on his skin.
His eyes seemed to be adjusting and his surroundings were becoming brighter, which made him see the humongous figure standing right before him. And he realised that the breeze he felt a moment ago was the breathing of the creature staring down on him with two pairs of golden light shaped in an oval.
Cain shuddered. As his eyes laid on the humongous black coloured creature, his heart tightened inside his chest and he had a hard time breathing. His entire being felt like it was in the process of having crushed and being moulded in a slow pace.
“It seems that you can feel my aura without me unleashing it. What a fascinating child indeed.” The Ancient Dragon smiled ever-so-slightly and it made Cain flinch. “I have decided.” The Ancient Dragon spoke.
‘Decided on what?’ Cain thought to himself his heart became a pounding mess inside his chest.
“I shall raise you.” Cain felt like he was splashed with a pail of melted ice. For a second, he believed that he fell asleep on his bed just as usual and was dreaming of a dream, which couldn’t be determined if it was good or a nightmare.
“Excuse me, what?!” Cain was finally able to utter a word, however…
“H-mm, I shall raise you as my child. Since your father has abandoned you and threw you in my dimensional space then it is only natural and fair for me to become your father instead I shall teach you how to wield a sword, magic of all sorts. Oh! And I shall teach you how to use my power instead. Since I’m a dragon and you’re a half-human and half-demon, it will be hard for you but if I’m the one teaching you then for sure you will succeed. But it sure will be a painful process but you will survive since you have me. Oh, oh! And I should take you to the other…”
“Wait! Wait! Wait! Slow down. I haven’t agreed to this yet!” The Ancient Dragon came to a full stop of planning what he would do in the future to Cain after hearing his panicked voice.
“You have no choice but to agree. This is the only way for you to survive in this dimension.” The Ancient dragon bluntly stated.
