Cain had finished changing his clothes and had returned the robe to Filzer, however, the ancient Dragon told him to keep it.
They were leaving the shop after buying everything including women’s and children’s clothing.
“What are we even going to do with those women's clothing? I can understand why you bought the children’s because there might be a time for me when I need to change my appearance into a child's.”
Cain was grumbling for no reason at all. In some aspects, he was trying to tease the ancient Dragon.
“In the thousand years that I have lived I have never been insulted like that and I tell you, it doesn’t feel good.”
Filzer said in a very serious expression that Cain didn’t have the time to suppress his laugh before it bursted out.
To normal people, Filzer would look like a childish middle aged man who was grumbling but to Cain, who knew of the ancient Dragon’s true age, he couldn’t help but think that it was funny.
However, he soon had to stop himself from cackling because Filzer’s expression didn’t look good at all.
‘Let’s remember not to tease Filzer. The whole kingdom might disappear.’
Cain thought to himself and nodded inwardly. He thought that the ancient Dragon would blow up like a bomb if it was handled incorrectly.
Cain stared at the estate in front of him with a blank face. It looked like a haunted house straight out of a horror movie with all the creepy noises the wind makes.
“Uhm. Is this your house?”
Cain asked the ancient Dragon, Filzer, while pointing his finger at the estate in front of them.
Filer nodded his head without much thought before opening the rusty gate with magic. The rusty gate made a loud screeching noise and before it was opened completely it broke and fell to the ground with a crashing noise.
Cain sighed as he watched the now destroyed gate. The estate was ignored and had no one to take care of for more than tens of years so it was natural for it to be in this state.
“Don’t worry about it. I can always fix everything with magic with just a snap of my finger.”
Filzer brushed the issue aside as he walked to the haunted mansion. The inside was even more worse because of the cobwebs and dust, not to mention, the rats which were squeaking.
“I think you should start by cleaning up everything first.”
Cain suggested while having eye contact with one of the rats before it ran away.
“Mmm. I should do that.”
Filzer, who was brushing aside the state of the mansion, agreed with Cain. And although what Cain had said should have made him mad the ancient Dragon was reasonable enough to know that the state which the mansion was in right now was his fault.
He left this estate unattended for the past tens of years and his reason was because he got bored while managing the estate.
Filzer sighed at his own thoughts and snapped his fingers a couple of times and the estate started to get cleaner and cleaner until there was no more dirt to be seen.
Cain found this amusing and thought that dragons really are reliable.
“Since this estate was outside the city walls and definitely would be the first one to be attacked by monsters if ever there is a monster outbreak I should build some walls around it.”
Filzer talked to Cain which he just shrugged. This was his way of telling the ancient Dragon to do what he wants because this estate was originally his.
The estate was indeed outside the city walls this was because the MArquis Heloin made it this way.
When the Heloin City was first built the Marquis Heloin had the Stan estate outside the walls. This was because he didn’t consider the Stan household to be one of the nobles.
Of course, the reason for this was because the Heloin household had done more deeds to the Aether Kingdom than the Stan household ever since the kingdom was created.
The Marquis had once questioned the crown why they were still keeping a household, which had done anything but good to the kingdom, one of the noble families instead of stripping them off of their title.
‘The Stan family may have not done any good to the kingdom, but they also haven’t done anything bad. Don’t talk bad about one of the families who created the Aether Kingdom, marquis Heloin.’
That was the King’s answer. Know your place. That was the hidden meaning of what the King had said. This made the Marquis shut his mouth and was also the reason why he hated the Stan household ever since.
For the Marquis, the Stan household had made him embarrassed in front of the King, no, the whole royalty and nobles.
And since that time, he had his eyes on the Stan household keeping everything under surveillance.
However, he had not found out a single thing about them. There was no news about the Stan family. If they still exist or if they managed to pass their bloodline. But after years of surveillance, the MArquis had found nothing. It was as if the Stan family had vanished in thin air.
This was why when he heard the news that two of the Stan family had gone to one of the best known boutiques in the city he immediately investigated the case.
He thought that this was his time to crush the Stan family and make the King lose his trust and favour towards the Stan family.
He pushed back everything in his schedule and started his grand plan.
Of course, both the half-human half-demon and the ancient Dragon knew nothing about the Marquis Heloin’s plans as they both received the clothes that boutique had delivered later that day and argued once more about the women’s clothes.
