Chapter 7 - The Ancient Dragon (2)

Cain showed no change of emotion even after he was praised by the Ancient Dragon.

The Ancient Dragon’s lips slightly went up as he studied Cain’s face.

“Time is warped for him just like what you thought. Although the way time is warped for him is the opposite of how time is warped for you.”

The Ancient Dragon looked sorrowful as it started explaining. It looked like it was remembering distant memories. It was the memories of it and the great sage when he was still alive.

Cain felt like he had understood what the Ancient Dragon. No, he had already guessed the difference of how time is warped for him and the great sage.

“While your ‘time warped’ is time being slowed to the point where it seemed as if it had stopped, his ‘time warped’ was time running too quickly.”

The Ancient Dragon continued without looking at Cain.

‘I knew it.’

Cain’s guess was correct. That was indeed the case. The great sage had travelled from world to world and dimension to dimension that it started eating away at his life force, which resulted in his faster lifetime.

One who was travelling between worlds and dimensions should have a long lifetime. It means that only entities with lives reaching tens of hundreds or even tens of thousands should travel between worlds and dimensions.

However, only entities like dragons, demons, beast creatures and some who go against nature’s laws could do this. Furthermore, travelling from world's worlds couldn’t be done by just anyone. It restricted the entity travelling to its destination once their lifetime was all used up from travelling.

“I’m from another world.”

Cain decided to answer the question that the Ancient Dragon was anticipating for earlier. However, he had said it so suddenly that the Ancient Dragon failed to react.

It was a couple of seconds of silence before the sudden information was processed by its brain.

“You’ll be the death of me.”

The Ancient Dragon sighed. Its reaction made Cain raise his eyebrow. He was confused why the Ancient Dragon reacted that way.

“So what is that strange energy that I’m feeling in your core?”

The Ancient Dragon recovered from its shock easily and asked the question that he wanted to know the answer the most after having his answer on its other question.

“Ah, I think this is something that the people who were awakened with abilities have back in my world. Well, mostly Awakeners were martial artists so it was later called ‘Ki’ functions almost the same to the ‘core’ in this world so I don’t need to explain it to you.”

The Ancient Dragon found it rude for Cain to speak informally to him when he was naturally his elder, after all Cain was only in his thirties when he got reincarnated while the Ancient Dragon has lived tens of hundreds of years.

“Hmm, I think I get it now. If I have something that I noticed after feeling that thing ‘ki’ in your core. It’s that it hides most of your demonic energy. If you don’t use your demonic powers I doubt that normal humans will even know that you’re a demon. Well, your appearance is a great help to that, too.”

Cain was thankful that he met an Ancient Dragon almost right after he got reincarnated in this world.

‘Hmm, dragons are reliable just like what books indicated.'

That was Cain's reason for being thankful to the Ancient Dragon but he suddenly thought that it was also the Ancient Dragon who made him feel terrified earlier.

'Mhmm, the books are right when they say that dragons are vicious. I should prevent getting on its nerves.'

The Ancient Dragon was looking at Cain with suspicion in its eyes.

“So since you have agreed to my proposal about me raising you. I can now do anything I want to do with you.”

Cain flinched after hearing the Ancient Dragon. He was scared because even if he was the greatest warrior back in his world he still couldn’t defeat a dragon and an ancient dragon at that.

The thought of the Ancient Dragon doing whatever it liked to Cain made him really scared. Cain had never felt so scared like he was right now in his entire life and the thought about dragons being vicious made it worse for his heart.

“Umm, did I really agree to it?”

It was to the point where he doubted even his decisions.

“First of all, I want to ask you a question.”

The Ancient Dragon’s words made Cain snap out of his thoughts. It made Cain forget about his fears for a moment.

“Do you want to have your former body?”

Cain frowned after hearing the Ancient Dragon’s question. He was confused why it asked him that kind of question.

Cain thought that now that he was reincarnated into a new world it was only obvious that he couldn’t go back even if he wanted to. And it was not like he was transmigrated so it was only natural for him to have a new body in a new world.

That was what he originally thought. However, after hearing the Ancient Dragon’s question made him think about his case again.

“No.”

The Ancient Dragon was surprised at Cain’s decision but it secretly smiled. The Ancient Dragon was expecting Cain to choose this path.

“Then, do you want to regain the years that you have lived in your past life?”

Cain frowned at the Ancient Dragon’s question. The second question was not similar to its first question, however, it was related to one another.

“Is it possible to pass the age of a former body to a new body?”

Cain asked in confusion. He thought that it was impossible. He, as a former king, has read books about politics and other topics that a king should know.

Of course, Cain has also read books that should never be read by a king but it was his belief that a king can do anything he wants although that wasn't always the case for him.

The Ancient Dragon smirked, this time it was visible. This action made Cain feel irked for some reason but he chose to shut his mouth.

“Of course, it is. I’m sure you don’t want to have little control over your own body, no?”

The Ancient Dragon looked at Cain with its now crescent-shaped eyes, which was the result of a teasing smile. Cain then realised that he was in his baby form.

He started to question himself as to how he could control his body. The answer to his question soon came.
