CHAPTER 3

Lyka POV I spent the night there and in the morning, food was given to me from under the door like a prisoner. I hadn't eaten lunch or dinner the previous day so I rushed to the food. It was plain rice and a cup of water. I cried as I ate the food. Later in the afternoon, some guards came and poured soapy water on me then cold water, they threw some clothes at me and I changed my clothes. After that, they told me to follow them and I did so without any questions. They took me to a hotel and the room was magnificent, it was a luxurious suite in the hotel and I had a faint memory of being there before. They instructed me to shower again which I did. Some ladies entered the room shortly and they brought along with them a wedding dress. They dolled me up and I wore the wedding dress. Once they were done, they left and I silently stared at my reflection in the mirror. From the bridal hairstyle to the makeup and the stunning white dress, everything was perfect, beautiful, and elegant. It's been so long since I've seen myself like this, dressed up and looking beautiful. I wanted to cry but I doubted my makeup was waterproof. I suddenly had an ache in my chest and I quickly sat down and calmed myself down. I was getting married to my mate but the said mate didn't want me, I was a shoo-in for another woman. He doesn't like the woman either but he would rather be with her than me. That hurts a lot, more than the fact that he wanted to kill me yesterday. ***** Hours later Silver came into the room. He was dressed handsomely in a black suit and tie and fitted black pants. In the better lighting in the room, I could see his face clearly now and he was surprisingly very handsome and my heart skipped a beat. His icy blue eyes were alluring, with his chisel jaw and naturally tanned skin. His skin was also flawless and his pink lips were very tempting – they were wet and glisten under the light in the room. He was a catch and wasn't as scary-looking as I thought he would be. Too bad he rejected me, I also don't want to be with him too. He cleared his throat, “You ready?” I nodded in confirmation. He turned to the two guards beside me, “Watch her so she doesn't escape, be out by ten.” With that, he left. I mentally prepared myself before the stated ten minutes elapsed and it was in those minutes I remembered something crucial. How would I say “I do”? That was going to be a big problem and when I met him again I was prepared to request a paper to communicate with him but before I could do that, he implanted a small speaker in my wedding dress, “You don't have to do anything, just stand and smile.” He said to me once he's done. “And make sure to lip sync when it's time to say I do, okay?” I nodded. “Let's see your smile.” Smile? It's been years since I smiled, at least genuinely. I'm not sure if I know how to fake it. I gave him a weak smile and he wasn't impressed. I tried again, I tried to show some teeth and let it reach my eyes but I felt awkward doing it, I must have looked scary and ugly so I stopped. Silver cleared his throat awkwardly, “Don't smile.” That was all he said to me before locking our hands together and leading us to the venue of the ceremony. The wedding took place in the grand hall of the Empire Hotel, so many guests were present, all eyes on me and Silver as we climbed to the platform and said our vows, well he and whoever was speaking for me, I just lip sync to it. The wedding was a success and we were greeted by many influential people and Alphas. I only shook their hands, Silver covered for me, telling everyone who asked that I was simply shy and nervous. They didn't question him if they didn't buy it so I didn't have to do much. Our hands were locked the whole time, our fingers intertwined, I felt his warm hands in mine all night and I had to constantly calm my heart and he was of no help when he suddenly began rubbing circles in the back of my hand. I was suddenly tense when I saw my uncle and his second wife and Katherine approach us. He noticed it and rubbed the back of my hand then whispered in my ears, “People who know you?” I nodded. “Family?” I nodded again. “Got it.” “Crown prince Silver! Glad to meet your acquaintance.” My uncle greeted Silver and they shook hands. “Lady Hazel!” He turned to me and extended his hand, “It's an honor to meet you and attend your wedding, I see you're as beautiful in real life like in the invitation photo.” A brow arched as he observed me and a small smile appeared on his lips but it quickly disappeared. I quickly shook his hands and nodded before turning away. They were all staring at me, Katherine included and the smile she had on her face was gone. “She's very shy and nervous. She's never been to many gatherings so excuse her.” “Of course. Congratulations on your wedding.” “Thank you, we have to leave.” “But… we have some business to discuss.” “Am aware. I'll visit you in your office tomorrow.” Silver said dismissively then walked away, dragging me along. Even my uncle is scared of Silver and doesn't dare upset. The party lasted for hours and I was completely exhausted after it. I was taken back to the hotel room which was a surprise to me because I thought I'd be locked up in some room like the last time. An evening gown was handed to me which I quickly changed into because I was so done with the wedding dress. The bed in the room was decorated romantically. Red roses formed a heart shape in the middle of the bed which made my stomach turn. I was not prepared to do anything with him and hoped he was not that sexually active and would leave me alone since he didn't like me. I waited for him to show up and he did much later. His eyes were cold as ever towards me, once he saw me on top of the decorated bed, he scoffed. “We’re going to skip that tonight and every other night until Hazel is found.” He walked towards me but didn't sit, he stood there as he spoke, "I married you as a replacement but whoever I married, whether you or Hazel, it would have been fake. To ensure my father, the king doesn't catch on to this, the marriage was held here. Despite his old age, the werewolf is quite sharp and not to be underestimated. The white mountain pack is the only pack in this nation that the king doesn't have much influence on, I don't think it's ordinary but it's worked for my advantage." He's right, this pack is also under the rule of his father but we don't get much support from the king in times of need and the Alpha always had to find a way out with our resources alone. I guess this might be the reason why but I wonder why the king doesn't have connections in our pack? It's very weird and like he said, not ordinary. “Listen up. I did a background check on you and discovered your name is Lyka, correct?” I nodded. “Good. Lyka, we're going to be married for a short period of time, it will last until I've found Hazel, the woman you look so much alike and were mistaken for. Rest assured, I will compensate you financially and I'll also free you from your pack. You'll no longer have to be a slave and you'll only get these rewards if you don't try to run away and play along with this marriage charade for the time being.”
