Chapter 3

Selena’s P.O.V

  Yet again I woke up before my alarm went off and even before Anna came into my room, which was quite surprising. I shut my alarm off and saw that I still had two whole hours to myself before I had to go downstairs. I got out of bed and went straight to the bathroom, getting into the shower and washing myself. I knew that Axel was still here, so I wanted to make sure I looked cute. I got out of the shower, dried myself off and wrapped a towel around me, but just as I went back into the bedroom Anna came in.

  “Good, you’re up. Let's get you ready, here put this on.” Anna said and pulled out a cute light blue sundress for me to wear. I quickly put it on and then turned to face the full length mirror, making sure I looked alright.

  “Come on, I’ll do your hair.” Anna said, pulling me over to a seat and making me sit down in front of the mirror. She brushed and styled my hair, putting it into a high ponytail and leaving some strands around my face. She put a little lipgloss on my lips and that was it, I was done.

  “Come on, you can wear flip flops and I have another sundress for after you shift.” Anna said, but as she was talking it felt like I could hear some sort of static or something in my head. I tried to focus on what it was and then I suddenly heard a voice in my head.

  “Hello Selena, it's very nice to meet you, I’m your wolf Brooke and I’m here to help you shift. I can’t wait to get out, but if it gets too painful then let me take over and I’ll do the rest.” My wolf Brooke said and I was a little surprised.

  “Hey Brooke, it's very nice to meet you too. We should be going downstairs soon and I can’t wait to see what you look like.” I replied to her, happy that I was finally hearing her.

  “I can’t wait either, but until then just relax and I’ll see you soon.” Brooke replied and just as she ended our conversation Anna turned and saw the look on my face.

  “Selena, what's wrong? Are you okay?” Anna asked, hurrying over to me, worried.

  “Yeah I’m okay, nothings wrong. I heard my wolf and her name is Brooke.” I replied, smiling and Anna’s eyes lit up.

  “That's great, it means you are halfway there. Goddess I’m really excited for you, Selena. Come on, let's get downstairs. Everyone is already waiting for you, including Axel.” Anna said, grabbing my hands and pulling me through the bedroom door. We hurried downstairs, straight out to the backyard and as soon as everyone saw us they sang happy birthday to me. The night was going great and everyone was having a good time, which made me happy. I blew out the candles on my beautiful three tier cake, with white and cream icing and red and pink roses on the side, as everyone sang happy birthday to me again. I had many gifts and I was so overwhelmed by them. I had clothes, books, jewellery, make-up and even a gift card to go get my nails and feet done. Everyone was having a wonderful time and then Axel found me, gently took my elbow and pulled me to the side. He never said a single word to me and just placed a small box in my hand. I opened the box and saw the most beautiful ring with a blue sapphire that I had ever seen. I looked up in shock and he just smiled at me.

  “This is a promise ring from me to you, I hope you like it.” Axel said and I smiled as he took the ring out of the box and placed it on my finger. The ring fit perfectly and I was a little surprised at how he knew my size and also curious as to when he had a chance to get this. 

  “I know that you are my mate and I wanted to prove to you how sure I am, but I also wanted to do something nice for your birthday, so I stepped out while you were resting and your sister helped me with the size.” Axel said, seeing the look on my face and answering the questions I hadn’t even asked out loud yet.

  “Yes, I love it, it's beautiful, thank you so much.” I said, taking the ring back off and putting it back into the box.

  “I’ll put it back on after I have shifted, I don’t want it breaking or being ruined.” I quickly said as he looked a little hurt that I had taken it off, but as soon as I told him the reason why he looked a lot better. I quickly realised that I hated seeing him look hurt.

  “Good idea.” Axel replied, looking relieved. I smiled as he took the box and put it back in his pocket. We joined the others and everyone was chatting and joking, when suddenly I felt Brooke getting a bit anxious in my head.

  “Selena, it's time, the moon is fully up now.” Brooke said and as soon as I heard her say that I started looking for my mom and dad. They must have sensed how nervous I suddenly felt because they looked right at me and when they saw the look on my face they knew it was time and hurried over to me.

  “Everyone, it's time, Selena is ready. Please, you all know how dangerous the first shift is, so when it starts please do not move until she is done and then after she has…..” My dad announced, but before he could finish what he was saying a sharp and sudden pain crashed through me, making me drop down to my knees as I screamed out in pain.
