Chapter 4

Selena’s P.O.V

  I could hear my dad talking to everyone, announcing the beginning of my first shift, but then this sharp sudden pain hit my stomach, making me double over as I clutched my stomach tightly and dropped to my knees. My whole body felt like it was on fire and my organs felt like they were ready to explode as my blood boiled around them. Sweat drenched my body as I gripped the cool grass, hoping it would help ease the heat I felt, but nothing could have prepared me for the pain I felt next. It's one thing to watch and hear as another wolf shifts, but it's something entirely different to go through it yourself and the second my wrists broke I knew this was going to be beyond torture. The whole pack could hear as my bones broke and shifted to the position my wolf would need.

  “AHHHHHH!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!” I screamed out the most blood curdling scream ever, making a few of the pack members shy away from me as my legs broke and shifted. Even though my dad had told everyone to stay still Axel ran over to me, trying to help.

  “Selena, it's okay, baby, it's almost over, I promise.” Axel said, but just as he finished talking my arms broke and my shoulders dislocated. I let out the loudest scream ever as my back arched up, breaking to make way for my new weight. Axel stayed by my side, kneeling next to me and trying to help me as I felt the bones in my face breaking and elongating, stretching to form my muzzle and snout. My whole body was itching all over as patches of fur sprouted from my skin. I let out another loud scream, which turned into a loud howl as my transformation and first shift had completed. I looked around and the difference was unbelievable, I could see and hear so much better, I could smell everything so much better and the one thing I could smell was my mate. Anna, mom and dad slowly walked over to me, careful not to make any sudden movements, as I was still a newly shifted wolf and the slightest thing could set me off.

  “Selena, look at me sweetie.” My dad said, leaning closer to me and my eyes snapped to him. My dad smiled at me and it made me and my wolf feel a little at ease.

  “You’re a fully black wolf, baby girl. You are beautiful. Do you think you can shift back?” My dad asked, but I whimpered at the thought of going through all that pain again so soon.

  “Come on, baby, I know you can do this and I promise it won’t hurt as much as it just did,” My dad said, knowing why I was scared. I yelped at him, telling him yes and then began to think of my human form. I started to shift back into my human form, but before I was almost completely shifted back Anna came running back over as my mom and dad stood in front of me, shielding me from everyone, including my mate. I collapsed on the ground once I had finished shifting and Anna quickly helped me get dressed, then helped me to my feet. When I was fully clothed my mom, dad and Anna moved out of the way, allowing me to stand and look around. Axel for some reason was a short distance away from me, instead of right next to me like he had been, but then I smelled it. The scent of fresh cut grass and melons. I looked around and my eyes immediately landed on Axel, making me smile.

  “MATE, MINE!” I said, walking over to him and he smiled from ear to ear.

  “Yes, my mate. I am yours and you are mine.” Axel replied, making me smile even more as I held my hand out to him. 

  “Can I have my ring back now, please?” I asked and he chuckled. Axel placed the blue sapphire ring back on my finger and everyone around us cheered, including some of Axel’s pack, which I didn’t even know were here.

  “Come on, let’s go inside.” Axel said, holding my hand in his. I heard my dad growl protectively behind me and turned around just in time to see mom slap him upside the head.

  “Do you remember what happened when you did this to Anna? She almost left. If they don’t mate here then they will mate somewhere else, you can’t stop it, Mercury, they are mates and you know how newly mated wolves are. Besides, she is eighteen.” My mom said and I heard as my dad grunted and sighed.

  “Fine, but it doesn't mean I have to like this.” My dad replied, making his objections clear as I shook my head.

  “Axel, before you leave tomorrow you and I are going to have a conversation.” My dad said and Axel nodded, making me feel nervous as we walked into the house. We walked up to my room and as soon as the door closed behind us I turned to face him.

  “Listen, I’ve had boyfriends before, okay, but I’ve never done….this. If you get what I mean. I’ve been on a date or two, but never done anything with them, so if you want to reject me now then I’ll understand, okay.” I said, but Axel looked really confused.

  “Why would I reject you, this means that I will be your first, your last and your only. I’m afraid that I’m not a virgin though and I have my fair share of she-wolves, so I’m not innocent, like you, I hope that’s not a problem.” Axel said and although it hurt to find out he had given himself to someone else, it was before we met or even knew about each other, so I couldn’t blame him. I shook my head and started laughing.

  “Listen, I understand and I’m okay with it, but I’m nervous about this, I've never done this before.” I said and he nodded.

  “Selena, I promise that I will be gentle with you, okay. I promise that I won’t hurt you and if it hurts you even a little and you want me to stop then I’ll stop and we can wait until you are fully ready.” Axel replied and just as he finished talking I could hear my wolf Brooke purring in my head.

  “Oh hush you horny wolf, you sound like a big kitty when you purr.” I said, speaking in my mind to my wolf. Before I knew what was happening I was kissing my mate and he was leading me to the bed. Axel and I were kissing each other passionately, as we pulled at each other's clothes, until we were both naked. I felt a little self conscious, but Axel soon reassured me, telling me how perfect I was and how I was all his. Axel and I made love through the night and it didn’t hurt one bit when we marked each other, that was nice, but what did hurt like a b***h was when we started having s*x and I lost my virginity to him. I could feel as my hymen broke, making me bleed a little, but after a while it felt nice. 

  Axel’s P.O.V

  Last night was the most magical and the best night of my whole life ever. The only thing I would have changed would have been waiting for my mate, but if I had, would I have been able to have been as gentle as I was last night with her? The next morning came and  was up before Selena, just resting on my elbow as I watched her sleeping and wishing I could know what she was dreaming about. I knew she was going to be a little sore today and I was going to run her a warm bath to help, but before I could get out of bed she woke up and smiled at me, taking my breath away.

  “Good morning, how do you feel?” I asked, worried.

  “I feel great, a little sore, but nothing I can’t handle. Fancy taking a shower before you go talk to my dad.” Selena asked, making me feel relieved that she wasn’t hurting that bad, but as quickly as the relief came it went away again and the nervousness appeared. s**t, I had to meet with Mercury for a talk.

  “Oh come on, he’s not that bad.” Selena said, chuckling. I laughed and jumped on her, picking her up and carrying her into the shower. Selena and I showered together, washing each other's bodies and drying each other off before I carried her back into the bedroom, making her giggle as I did so. We got dressed and went downstairs to see what her dad was doing and what he wanted to talk to me about, but right as Selena walked into the office the first thing her dad did was sniff the air and then let out the loudest growl ever. 

  “SELENA! LEAVE NOW! I NEED TO TALK TO MR. AXEL HERE!” Mercury said, growling even louder and I knew it was because Selena’s scent had mixed with mine now that we had mated, plus it didn’t help that he saw my mark on her neck and vice versa.

  “Dad, don’t be mean, okay. We’re mates.” Selena said, but then her mom walked over to her and took her hand from mine.

  “Selena honey, let's go, they need to talk. It will be okay.” Luna Alpha Cheyenne said, but then she turned to her husband and mate, Mercury.

  “Don’t make me slap you upside the head again.” Luna Cheyenne said and it was the first time I had ever seen Mercury look worried. Selenea and her mom left the office, closing the door behind them and leaving Mercury and I alone to talk.
