Axel’s P.O.V
s**t, this was not going to be good, not with how he was looking at me and with how he asked Selena to leave. What did Luna Cheyenne mean though when she mentioned Selena’s sister Anna? Was Mercury this protective over Anna when it came to her finding her mate, William or was it because Selena was his youngest daughter?
“Axel, come sit down.” Mercury said and I nodded, taking a seat in front of his desk. He sat down on the edge of his desk, glaring at me like he was about to rip my head off.
“I know you are my daughters mate and I am willing to accept that, but if you hurt her in anyway and I mean any way then I will rip your f*****g head off your shoulders. Do we understand each other?” Mercury asked and I quickly nodded. I knew he would do it in a heartbeat, but I also knew that I would never hurt her.
“I promise you Mercury, I give you my word that I will never hurt Selena.” I replied and he nodded after a few minutes of staring at me, probably looking to see if I was lying or not, but he would never find any sign of deception when it came to how I felt about Selena.
“Good, right then let's get down to business then shall we. I have a collection tonight and I want you to come with me. Don’t worry, Hawk, William, Trevor, Cody and Spike will be there as well. I want to see what you are capable of and I also want you to see what you are getting yourself into.” Mercury said, making me think for a few minutes.
“Alright, but I need to get back to my pack to do some business first. I’ll be back around six in the evening, is that going to be enough time?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yeah, it will be plenty of time, we’re leaving here at about eight, so do your pack stuff and then be back here.” Mercury replied and I nodded.
“Alright, I’ll be here. I’ve always wondered what you did to scare the hell out of the others, so I guess tonight I’m going to find out a little of it. I’ll tell Selena I’ll be back later.” I said and he nodded, standing up from his desk. I stood up and shook his hand, still unsure of what was going to happen tonight, but I wanted to find out. I walked out of the office door and saw that Luna Cheyenne and Selena were standing there, making both Mercury and I chuckle at how nosey they were.
“See honey, it wasn’t so bad, he still has his head and all his teeth, he’s still walking.” Luna Cheyenne said, chuckling slightly and making my eyes widen a little.
“Dad, what’s going on?” Selena asked, looking at her dad, but he just shook his head.
“Nothing honey, Alpha Axel is coming with me tonight, we have some work to do. Your grandfather, William and a few others are coming as well, so don’t worry.” Mercury replied and Selena turned her attention back to me.
“I’ll be back, I promise. I need to do some pack business back home and I’ll be back here at six.” I said, kissing her cheek. I walked to the front door, leaving to go to my pack, but I could still hear Mercury, Luna Cheyenne and Selena talking behind me as I left.
“Dad, I know what you're doing tonight, you're going on a collection, just don’t scare him too bad, okay?” Selena said, making me a little nervous.
“Mercury, I’m warning you.” Luna Cheyenne said and I could hear the threat in her tone.
“Don’t worry, I won’t.” Mercury replied, laughing slightly. s**t, what the hell have I got myself into? She was worth it, no matter what I was getting into. Selena was worth it. When I finally made it back home I went straight to my office to sort everything out that I had to. I made a few phone calls to some of the Alpha’s surrounding my pack, who were having trouble with rogues. We were trying to figure out how they were getting inside each of their territories, but we were getting nowhere and just as I hung up the phone the door to my office swung open and my sister Mia stomped through the door.
“Axel, what the hell man, you were supposed to have been back last night, but you closed your link so I couldn’t get through to you. What happened?” Mia angrily asked, looking red in the face as she glared at me. What is it with everyone glaring at me today, first Mercury and now my own sister?
“First off, calm your ass down and second I found my mate, but you will never guess who she is and what pack I found her in.” I replied and Mia quickly calmed down, smiling at me when she heard the news.
“Axel no, you were going to watch the first shift of the second born in Alpha Don Mercury’s pack, so who is it? Is it one of his pack members?” Mia asked and I shook my head, but when I thought about it my mate is a member of his pack.
“Well, she is a member of his pack, but she is also Mercury’s youngest daughter, Selena. She was the one who had her first shift last night.” I replied and suddenly Mia burst out laughing, which shocked me.
“Goddess Axel, you better watch your step with her and her family. He will rip your head off if you even put a toe wrong.” Mia said, still laughing.
“Yeah, I know, Mia. I need to go back over there by six tonight. I’m going to spend some time with Selena and then I am going to go with Mercury to get a collection.” I replied, but she looked confused.
“What is a collection?” Mia asked, making me chuckle.
“I don’t know, but I’ll find out tonight and I’ll also figure out why people are so scared shitless of him.” I replied and she nodded. Mia and I talked for a few more minutes and I told her everything that happened while I was at Mercury’s pack, from meeting Selena and finding out she was my mate to Mercury threatening me and Luna Cheyenne hitting him upside the head, which made her laugh.
“So sis, enough about what I’ve been up to, tell me how the warriors are doing, are they ready to graduate soon?” I asked and she nodded.
“Yeah, in about a week or so. They are doing wonderfully, over the next few days each of them are going to have to go find a rogue and take him to the cell without killing him. Kevin is going to play the part of the rogue and he can’t wait to give them the fight of their lives.” Mia replied and I was happy to hear how well they were doing.
“Good, lets just hope it works out for them.” I said, feeling sorry for the new graduates as I remembered how strong and capable Kevin is when it comes to fighting. I looked at my watch and saw that it was time for me to get going.
“Mia, watch the pack tonight, okay. I’ll be back tomorrow. I’m also going to talk to Mercury and see if I can buy some of his territory, that way we can build onto that and Selena won’t be so far away from her family.” I said and Mia nodded.
“Will do brother, just be careful.” Mia replied as I stood up and walked out the office with Mia following me.
“My brother the Alpha is going to have his hands full and I’ll be there laughing all the way.” Mia said, shaking her head at me as I got into my car.
“Thanks Mia. I’ll see you soon.” I replied, laughing.
“Hi love, I’m on my way now. I’ll be there shortly.” I said, mind-linking Selena.
“Okay, I’ll be waiting.” Selena replied and I ended the link. I turned the key in my car and sped off, beginning the thirty minute drive to Mercury’s territory. It didn’t take that long before I was pulling up at the gate and one of the guards stood there smiling at me.
“Hey, I’m Juan. good luck tonight, keep our boss safe because if you don’t we’ll have your head hanging from one of the poles.” Juan said, letting me through the gates and making me feel nervous. What the f**k have I got myself into?
