Chapter 6

Axel’s P.O.V

  I drove down the driveway to the pack house, wanting to see Selena first. I needed to be by her and to feel her close to me. My wolf Finn was going nuts not being able to see her, so as soon as I got out of the car and smelled her scent I went right to her. She was in the living room, watching a movie called Congo and although I tried to sneak up on her she must have smelled my scent.

  “Are you trying to sneak up on me? Come over here and sit down, you still have thirty minutes before you have to meet up with dad and the others. I’ll link him and let him know you're here.”

  Selena’s P.O.V

  “Hey dad, just letting you know Axel is here with me and we’re watching a movie.” I said, mind-linking my dad.

  “Let me guess, you-re watching Congo? I’ll give you two a few minutes alone and then I’ll come in. I need to talk to Axel about what's going to happen tonight.” My dad replied, mind-linking me back.

  “Alright, see you in a few minutes, dad.” I said and ended the link.

  “Dad said he’s going to come and talk to you in a few minutes, but until then you are all mine.” I said as he sat down next to me. I put my legs over his lap and he began rubbing my feet, watching the movie with me. I could hear Brooke purring in my head, making me laugh.

  “You sound like a cat instead of a wolf when you purr like that.” I said to her, but she just laughed.

  “Our mate is sweet and his wolf Finn is purring too. It's cute. The real big test is tonight and only after that will we see if he sticks around.” Brooke replied and I hummed in agreement.

  “We’ll see Brooke, if dad doesn’t scare him off.” I said and heard her purr again.

  “He won’t, but he might just be more scared of what happens after tonight.” Brook replied, making both of us chuckle.

  “We’ll see.” I said and quickly cut the link before Axel could figure out that I was talking to my wolf. I turned my attention back to the movie and took my legs off Axel, turning so that I could rest my head on his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around me. An hour later my dad walked into the living room, shaking his head at the cosy position Axel and I were in.

  “Sorry it took me so long I had to make a few phone calls. Axel, I hope you are ready for this. The plan has changed and we are no longer doing a collection tonight. We are going after someone.” My dad said and Axel nodded.

  “Yeah sure, but there is something I need to speak to you about before that, if you don’t mind.” Axel replied and both dad and I were all ears, waiting to hear what he was going to say.

  “I want Selena to come and live with me, but I wanted to see if I could buy some territory from you. I want to build on it and that way Selena can still be close to all of you.” Axel said, shocking me with how considerate he was being.

  Axel’s P.O.V

  I was certain about what I wanted to do, but I needed Mercury’s permission to do this, so after asking him I waited for his reply. It took a few minutes and Mercury looked like he was deep in thought the whole time.

  “Let's see how you handle tonight and then we will see if you still want to do that. Come on, let's get going, everyone is already outside waiting.” Mercury replied and I nodded. Selena lifted herself off me and I hugged her tightly.

  “I’ll be back soon.” I said, kissing her forehead. I stood up and walked behind Mercury, leaving out the front door, but when I got outside I was shocked. 

  “This is Cheyenne’s dad Hawk, Anna’s mate William and you remember my Beta, Trevor, Cody and Spike from Selena’s shift last night.” Mercury said, pointing everyone out to me as he introduced me. I was a little taken back when I saw Selena’s grandad Hawk because he was massive, at least six foot tall. Spike, Trevor and William were all covered in tattoos, but Cody didn’t seem like he fit in with them at all. He was clean shaven and had a sort of baby face about him, whereas all the other guys looked scary as hell. William got in the driver's seat as the rest of us got in the car.

  “Right ground rules, when we get to where we are going I’m going to need you right by my side. When I tell you to do something or get me something, then you do it and you need to do it without question.” Mercury said, turning to face me and I didn’t say anything. I just nodded and looked out of the tinted windows. I was curious to see where we were going, but at the same time I was more curious to find out what we were going to do. We finally turned on seventh street and then turned onto Walnut street, stopping outside 1616. Everyone got out of the car and I followed them, still not knowing what we were doing here.

  “Spike, you head to the back, Cody, stay with the car and keep an eye out. Trevor, stay by the front door. William, Hawk, you come with me, you too Axel.” Mercury said and we all nodded, following his instructions. We all took our positions and Mercury walked up the five steps to the front door of the two story house. To me it looked condemned and I honestly had no idea why we were here. Mercury stood in front of the door, but he didn’t bother knocking and instead kicked the door open. I saw two men start running and from the looks of it they were running for their lives, but there was another standing behind the door and he had a gun, pointing it right at Mercury. I kicked his arm before he could pull the trigger and knocked the gun out of his hand. I reached forward and punched him in the face, knocking him out cold. The man had blood dripping from his nose and mouth, but even though he was out cold I wasn‘t going to take any chances and kicked the gun away from him.
