Chapter 12

Dee’s P.O.V

  I drove through the night and I still had one more day of driving left, but this was the safest way. If I had shifted into my wolf then Eli would have been able to track my scent, whereas they couldn’t with me driving. I had slept in my car and felt horrible, but I really needed and wanted a shower, so I stopped at the next truck stop I saw. I bought a pair of shorts and a shirt from the shop and then used the showers that were available. I got out of the shower, dried off, goot dressed and went back out to my car. I sped off and drove for a few more hours, but then I needed to stop for gas, food and to use the bathroom. I was getting closer to Mercury’s territory, but I still had a fairly long way to go and I was going to need supplies, at least until I got another job. I drove for a few more miles and saw a shopping centre, so I stopped and brought clothes that would last me, then got back on the road again. Idrove for a few more hours and it wasn’t long before I started recognising old landmarks and I knew that I was getting close.

  “Mercury, I’m almost there. It's been a long three days, so give me a few hours and I’ll be driving up, tell Gorge and Rani to let me through.” I said, mind-linking Mercury.

  “Alright Dee, see you when you get here.” Mercury replied and I ended the link, focusing back on the road ahead of me. I couldn’t wait to get there and when I did all I wanted was a soft bed and a good night's rest. I was still trying to think of the best time and way to tell Mercury about his parents, but so far I still had no idea how I was going to do it and I was a little scared to tell him because once that door was open there was no going back.

  Mia’s P.O.V

  I know I told my brother that I would be coming to see him yesterday, but I never showed up until this morning and now here I was, sitting in my car outside the huge entrance gates to the territory.

  “Hey Axel, I’m here, can you ask Mercury to tell the guards I’m here so they will let me through, please?” I asked, mind-linking my brother.

  “Yeah Mia, I’m letting him know now.” Axel replied, mind-linking me back and after a few minutes a guard opened the gate and let me inside.

  “Has Rani let you through? He’s the guard on the gate.” Axel asked and I thanked the man I now knew as Rani as I drove through the gate.

  “Yeah, Rani just let me through, so I’ll be there in a few.” I replied and ended the link. I drove down a long driveway and was very surprised to see how large the house was at the end of it. It was a huge four story house and the territory surrounding it was beautiful. There were playgrounds for the pups, gardens everywhere and many cars, Jeeps, Mercedes and a huge black SUV with tinted windows parked up near the huge garage to the side of the house. I shook my head wondering who used it and what they used it for, after all, Mercury wasn’t known as the scariest Alpha for nothing. When I finally pulled up to the house I parked and saw that Axel was already waiting for me outside, with a beautiful girl with dark hair by his side. That must be Selena, I thought as I got out of my car.

  “Hey sis, I’m glad you finally made it. Mia, this is my mate and soon to be Luna, Selena, but she is also a pure black wolf and has Alpha blood, so she will be Alpha as well. Selena, this is my sister Mia.” Axel said, introducing us and I was a little surprised to hear she was a pure black wolf.

  “Hi there, Selena, it's nice to meet you. I’m glad my brother finally found his mate and may I say you are very beautiful.” I said and Selena smiled at me.

  “Hi Mia, it's very nice to finally meet you too. Your brother has told me a little about you, but I hope to get to know you a lot better and may I say you are very beautiful as well.” Selena replied and I smiled back at her. She looked me up and down and I couldn’t help blushing, I wasn’t Miss America material, but I could hold my own. I had shoulder length red hair, bright blue eyes and from what I had been told a few times I had a figure to die for.

  “Thank you, Luna Alpha. So big brother, where is the big mean Alpha Mercury at? When do I get to meet him and Luna Cheyenne?” I asked, laughing slightly. Alpha Mercury and Luna Cheyenne were legends and it would be such an honour to meet them.

  “Well here I am, all you had to do was just wait a few seconds.” A man’s voice said, making me jump and gulp. I slowly turned around to see Mercury and Cheyenne walking up behind me and I was both shocked and surprised to see that they didn’t actually look scary at all. What was the big deal? I thought, but then again I had only just met them. I bowed my head to them out of respect, but was shocked when Luna Cheyenne came right up to me and hugged me.

  “Hello Mia, no need for bowing to us, you’re family. Welcome to our home.” Luna Cheyenne said, smiling brightly at me. Another two men and women came over and stood next to us, making me wonder who they were.

  “Mia, this is my grandfather Hawk and his mate Faith and this is my sister and her mate William. I would have liked both you and Axel to meet my cousin Angel and my Niece Lexi, but they are away visiting the Beta male and female, Goldie and Trevor’s twins in college.” Selena said and I nodded, feeling a little overwhelmed at how many people had come to meet me, but I dealt with it. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming that I was starting to like it here. It was different to what other packs were like and anyone could tell that they were a real family, I thought to myself, smiling as we all talked and then I heard a sudden loud growl come from behind me.

  “What now?” I muttered under my breath and turned to see what was wrong, but then I saw the most amazing, hot ass guy I had ever seen.

  “MATE! MINE!” He growled, making me immediately take a step back, shaking my head. No, no, this can’t be, this isn’t right. I’m not ready for this. The last time I had a mate he cheated on me and I had to break the bond by rejecting him, just so I wouldn’t feel the pain of him cheating, if I didn’t I could have died. He rejected me right back and left the pack with the woman he cheated on me with. Everyone says that the mate bond was unbreakable, that it was something no mate could resist, but I didn’t trust it. Not after the Moon Goddess paired me with that cheating bastard. 

  “I’m sorry, who are you?” I asked, backing away from him and he looked shocked. Axel saw me and gave me a weak smile, knowing why I was like this and what had happened to me. 

  “My name is Joseph and I have been looking for you for many years. The Moon Goddess came to me not so long ago and told me that I would have a fight on my hands when it came to you. She told me all about the first mate you had and what he did to you, but please trust me I am nothing like him. You are worth fighting for and I am willing to fight every inch of the way to prove myself to you and win your heart.” The man I now knew as Joseph replied and although I wanted to run into his arms I was scared. What if he did the same to me? What if he was just like my old mate and this was all an act because he was in front of his Alpha and Luna?

  “I don’t know about this, I don’t trust the mate bond at all now. Once was enough for me, I will not get hurt again.” I said, shaking my head no. This was too much, it was all just too much. I came here to support my brother and meet his new mate and her family, I didn’t come here for a mate.
