**Vann (POV) **
[Kaarmanet, Castle of legends]
10years after the great war...
I walked the castle passage, carrying the little book I had been working on for the last week for my little princess. Kyrah, my precious little girl is turning 5 years old. Of course, since she was born on the Ball of Peace, her birthday has always been a cause for double the celebrations. As I walked the passage, my mind drifted to this day five years ago...
I wanted to cancel the ball this year considering Cahaya's third trimester. But she promised to be careful and not exhaust herself with her gorgeous eyes. How could I ever say no to that?
"Love, are you ready?" I asked from the doorway as the ball was about to begin.
"Ye... ahh" She cried mid-word and I saw her gorgeous dress soaked.
"Love?" I asked rushing to her side, "Oh my... let's get you to the healers... your water broke."
"Not early labor!" She whined grimacing as another wave of pain began, and I picked her up.
"Come on, love; looks like my daughter's too excited to meet me!" I chuckled, teleporting us to the healer's wing.
Cahaya had to go through a complex delivery, as my baby girl aligned herself the other way around. The healers wanted to operate and our girl out, as delivering a breech baby would not only cause my love immense pain but could also put her life at stake. But my mate was probably the most stubborn and strong woman on Kaarmanet, cause she was adamant about having a normal delivery. With no choice left, I teleported us with the healers to the Lospien canal, so that the strong current of the water would help Cahaya deliver safely. Which she did, though with much effort and I stayed by her side all the time. Her resilience gave me the strength to see her endure that pain and finally, we heard a cry.
The healer pulled our little angle out of the Lospien and what we saw left us stunned... Her eyes were sealed shut and no matter how the healer tried they wouldn't open. Cahaya was still panting and stayed limp in my arms but panic quickly took hold of my senses.
"It's as if her eyes never developed, High King!" The healer declared solemnly.
"That can't be!" I cried, "No! That is impossible!"
Mom was clear in her letter, she would be gifted with Sight, how could her eyes not have developed?
"Relax Vann!" My love let out calmly, taking me by surprise.
"Did you hear what she just said?" I quired, both enraged and confused.
"Can I hold her now?" She quired the healer instead completely ignoring my question, "Well hello my darling girl!" She chirped happily despite her weakness.
"Isn't your Dad super uptight, Kyrah?" She continued talking to our baby girl and the little one cooed in her arms, "Yes, he is and you agree, don't you? Why don't you tell him, that what has to be, will be! Everything will fall to its right place when it is the right time! Like I found your dad when the time was right!"
The cooing response from our little Kyrah melted all my worries away and a smile crept up my lips.
"Dadddyyyyyyyyy! Momsssssssssssssssyyyyy!" Kyrah's scream brought me back to the present and I flashed to her room.
"What is it, Princess?" I asked sweat breaking on my neck, as I saw her tiny frame thrashing on the floor with her head in her mother's lap.
She wouldn't respond but continued crying holding her eyes. It broke my heart to see her in so much pain. I looked up at my mate who held her close in her arms and a tear slid down her cheek but she stayed composed.
"We're right here my darling!" She shushed our girl, "Talk to me... what's happening!"
"Momsy, no!" She cried thrashing and wiggling, "Please! Daddy, make it stop please!"
"Princess!" I said about to break down in a sob with her when my mate shot me a warning look and I took
a deep calming breath before continuing, "Daddy's here! But if you don't tell me what's happening, how will Daddy make it stop?"
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" She cried out loud, "MY EYES!'
Shock took hold of both of us as we looked at her wide-eyed. Cahaya slowly pulled Kyrah in her arms and pealed her tiny hands away, only to find puss oozing from them.
"Should I call the healers?" I mentally quired my mate.
"We can't let anyone find out!" She yelled in my head.
I flashed in and out and got some clean lenin to my princess who cried helplessly in her mother's arms. I carefully cleaned the puss off of Kyrah's eyes as my love held her gently calming her down. Just as her eyes were clean, Kyrah stopped thrashing and went absolutely still. I felt a jolt and before I could comprehend I flew to the corner of Kyrah's room. I lifted my head and found Cahaya at the opposite side of the room thrown out by the jolt like I was.
Kyrah's tiny frame hovered in the air, right at the center of her room, her legs dangling in a perfect stance. Amazed at the sight in front of us, each of us slowly rose to our feet. The tiny 5-year-old gracefully landed on her feet with a soft thud in absolute silence as we watched her in awe. Her hands were moving in the air as if she tried to feel something, she turned around in circles but she neither cried nor said a word, while I was too scared to say anything.
All of a sudden, she stopped and opened her eyes. I had never seen or heard of eyes like hers, heterochromatic eyes: a crystal Turquoise right eye and a bright purple left eye, that took my breath away. Just as I regained my senses and opened my mouth, Kyrah's soft voice boomed in my ears.
"The Sick prisoner, in the 8th cell from the bottom will free himself tonight when the moons rise to their peak and feed on eighteen innocent souls before he is captured and killed by the Dark Prince, who is battling his own self at the moment. For he doesn't know, it is not his blood that is the cause of the sickness, but something else that is hiding deep where no one would look!"
"Dasha!!!" We exclaimed.
