Matchmaking Season

Edward's POV 'Welcome to Maledictus. The Alphas who are going to take part in the Match Making Season, are staying in the adjacent Mansion. Please have breakfast here and we would help with the moving' I chuckled listening to my Beta welcoming each and every guest of the Matching Season this year. He could hear me properly and looked back to let out a small growl, and then quickly turned around to look at the other guests waiting to get rooms as well. Peeking out of the gate, I noticed the amount of the alphas and wolves that have arrived to take part in the Matching Season. Even though, One should marry his mate, The Alphas from the big packs usually wished to settle politically and diplomatically with a well deserving Luna. The one who could provide them more when they marry them, the one who would bring more to their house, in terms of Ranks, Money, Connections. They didn't care about the mate bond or love which comes with it. They wished to find a better match than the moon goddess made for us. Other than that, there were the ones who couldn't find their mate, lost their mates, or like to have more than one mate. I was disgusted by the last group, but since the Boss was okay with them, I couldn't say much. 'Have you heard?' Noah looked at me with a grinning smile on his face, just like a golden retriever and whispered. 'I have heard a lot of things and don't care about any of them. So which one do you mean?' I walked towards him and started to inspect the front yard for all the arrangements that were getting done. 'Xander is going to take part too, this year' , He said with full on excitement. With his dirty blonde hair and golden blue eyes, he would make a good golden if not a scary wolf. 'Wait what?' I said Unaware about the fact that Boss was also going to be one of those jerks Alpha who can't find their mate in the natural way. 'Does Albuela knows about it?' Noah shook his head and grinned more. 'She would create a scene. Why didn't he tell her' The front yard was decorated and yet it looked like something was missing from it. Everything was plain and dull, and even it didn't miss anything in substance, it missed a cheerful feeling to it. 'He knows that she would get upset, so that's why he let her go yesterday to the woods' 'So now since she got in trouble, she might not be able to scold him about it?' Amature move, like he doesn't know her at all' Noah grinned again, then turned around to welcome rest of the guests. As the number of Wolves increased in the vicinity, I could feel the pack getting more and more upset. No one likes another dog in their area, and these were not just dogs, they were grown Alphas, who have their egos and arrogance. 'Its going to be a long month', I groan inwardly and started walking back inside. 'Edward!' I only knew two people who said my name. Boss and Maria. No one else even come closer to me to have the power to say it. 'Lets have a talk!' Xander looked both side before signalling me to follow him into his room. He definitely looked scared, probably of Maria. As I enter the room, he closed it behind me. His room was just like I remembered. It was divided in three sections, One with his bed, One where he study, and One where he took all the secret meetings. He was a workaholic with a tight packed schedule. Getting up early in the morning, Doing Study, Taking meetings, Going to work out, Eat and then hunt. No wonder he has no mate. He hasn't made any time for his mate in his daily life. It was becoming more and more clear now. Matt and Noah were already sitting around the table when I entered the room, talking about themselves and then waving at me, as I walked in. 'Being too productive today, Noah?' He was the most active one in the pack, also why he was given more responsibilities all the time. Matt on the other hand, was left alone since he was one of the angry wolves. He was young and still learning the ways of the pack. I wouldn't blame him. My moving here has completed abrupted his life from our old pack and he was finding it hard to make friends. 'I want to know what happened yesterday and who all were there' Xander said, taking the seat as well around the table. 'A lot' I rolled my eyes and sat in front of him. 'I heard there was a girl there' Noah jumped on his chair and looked at me with a grin on his face. I scrunched my eyebrows and looked back at him, 'I actually heard something too. Heard that someone found his mate' There was a gasp from him and Matt as they both turned to look at me for different reasons. I assumed that Matt wasn't aware about it and that Noah wasn't aware that I knew about it. 'There were Rogues in the woods, which was pretty strange for me' 'Yes, they usually don't go around in packs or hunt any human so openly', Xander agreed to me and added. 'They might be after someone then and accidentally came across Mother', Xander said and looked at me 'Were we able to get any of them alive?' 'We got one, he is in the basement. Rest are dead or hurt pretty bad, the group leader who attacked the girl seemed to escape' I growled at the mention of her getting hurt, even when I didn't know her at all. Her fragile and broken body, appearing in front of me again, with those beautiful and forgiving eyes. I bet she knew what she was doing when she let out the growl 'Tonto' I said under my breath again, getting angry 'Edward?' You okay?' I heard Xander call me and shook my head pulling her out from my thoughts and regaining the conversation we were having. 'Yes, When we reached with the pack, Mother was there and there was a girl standing in front of her, like she was guarding her from those Rogue wolves. I don't know if she knew who or what they were. She looked like a human and yet she tried protecting a wolf, fighting the other wolves on her own' Stubborn Girl!
