Arkin
I was walking straight towards where Fico was all smile and laughter cozying up with the other party guests.
I can recognize about five people in the table from our old high school but I had no intention of catching up and the only reason why I was speeding up towards their table was because I wanted to talk to Fico and finally clear things up once and for all.
He can’t just say and do things and make me feel like a complete i***t swooning despite me not wanting to every time he opened his mouth and regarded me.
I had two glasses of champagne before I came up with the decision and a few more bites of brownies after he left me all feeling stupid and crazy earlier with his antics so I was feeling the surge of confidence to come up to him and be upfront with my take about all these.
It was just our second night together and the wedding wouldn’t be until the next Friday so if I continue to let Fico do what he felt like doing, then I would be dead even before I walk on the isle as Saddie’s Man of Honor.
This was supposed to be a joyous event.
I should be enjoying myself with the paid vacation and the possibility of meeting single, eligible bachelors like me and not some blast from the past who may be good looking and smoking hot but at the same time was so much of a conundrum the things he do one can no longer keep up with.
And by one, I mean me.
Because fvcking Fico was doing his magic on me the same way he did ten years ago and as I kept on telling myself I no longer wanted for it to happen so I should stand my ground.
And standing my ground was me walking towards Fico at the moment to finally settle things.
I need to act fast before all the strength, confidence and bravery flew off my system.
I was about two more tables from where Fico was when I felt someone snatched me by my forearm.
“Saddie—!”
I glared at my best friend who pulled me towards the corner back to where I was standing drinking my champagne near the desert table earlier.
“Just for a while. I’ve been itching to talk to you but there’s just too many people I need to say hi to but I’m free now so I need to talk to you.”
I craned my neck towards Fico.
He was still in the table with our old high school friends.
“What?”
I asked when I turned towards Saddie and she had her mischievous smile on.
“Tsk. I saw you earlier.”
I furrowed my brows at her.
“Given that you’re not blind, that’s possible.”
My best friend rolled her eyes.
“Yeah, sure smart mouth!”
She glared at me before she slapped me on my arm.
“So what did you and Fico do in the dark earlier, huh?”
She squawked as I was still massaging my smarting arm.
“I ordered extra fairy lights for that corner but the resort couldn’t provide it that’s why that corner was dark. But as I see now, I think it’s a good thing that they weren’t able to illuminate the place for you and your kind of ex boyfriend.”
Saddie completed her monologue with a wink at me.
She was talking about the back portion of the poolside where Fico and I were earlier.
But wait.
“Why are we talking about it again!?!”
Saddie scoffed.
“I saw him followed you there don’t think I didn’t. Tsk! And here I thought Fico is just another wedding guest.”
I low key checked on Fico if he was still where he was when I saw him earlier—and he was—-before I regarded my best friend.
“I was about to talk to him and sort things out before you kidnapped me, and now you had the audacity to ask me about him. Really?”
I looked to where Fico was again.
This time I let Saddie see.
“We almost kissed. Can you believe that!?!”
My best friend was blinking at me.
“Right? Stupid Fvck face! He has no right! Before this night is over I’m really gonna talk to him to make him stop. He’s no longer funny.”
I was catching my breath after what I said.
“You guys almost kissed?”
I gained at my best friend.
“I said a lot of stuff and you only heard that part?”
I looked at her with distaste.
“So you really did almost kiss!??”
She gave me back the distaste.
“Saddieee...the point here is why is he doing stuff like this!?! Why is he saying this and that!?! He even introduced me as his boyfriend last night so we could score a table at the local restaurant.”
I glanced at Fico who was currently a hugging on a beer straight from the bottle.
“He introduced you as his boyfriend!?! How come I’m only hearing about this now!?!”
I rolled my eyes.
This, her being dramatic is exactly why.
To think that she still has a wedding to think of, but here she is right at the very moment, asking me about stuff I also didn’t know about.
“Because it’s not important, okay? What’s important is your upcoming wedding and me, talking to him about all his antics so far—which, by the way, is no longer funny.”
I blinked at my best friend when she pulled me towards her, pulling me a little to her right so I could face the party floor properly.
Fico didn’t move though.
“You know what, you really should talk to Fico.”
I nodded at my best friend.
Finally.
“You guys should talk about your official anniversary. Would it be last night when he introduced you as his boyfriend or tonight when you almost kiss.”
I was left blinking and speechless at my best friend after what she had to say.
“You’re not helping.”
I glared at my best friend when I recovered.
“Well, at least I’m trying to make sense of what Fico has been doing. Unlike you who only knows how to crush everything. Arkin, can you just chill? Fico can’t be doing all these just because he’s bored. Can you at least be less cryptic for once!??”
I made a face at Saddie.
“You’re supposed to check on your visitors by now.”
I told her for the lack of all the to say.
“And of course you’re changing the topic again!”
Saddie narrowed her eyes at me before she placed both hands on either side of her hips.
“Arkin, quick question: and please be honest. And please know that you don’t have to answer right away. Maybe the day before the wedding you can. Anyway, what if after all these and Fico asks you to be his boyfriend, what would you say?”
“Will you give him a chance?”
I looked at my best friend.
Then to Fico who was now having fun in another table I thought.
After everything he did, will I!?!
