Chapter 7: He’s Popular (1)
***
Days later Edward hadn’t picked up the issue at all but it didn’t stop Mason from still thinking about the situation…
As their new semester began he went to University as usual and stayed throughout his classes. They had several ones that were in different lecture halls, so they had a mutual agreement to go and pick up the other one if their own lecture ends earlier.
Mason still had plenty on his mind but eventually decided that it was pointless to dwell on those kinds of things for too long. ‘Nothing good will come out of me forcing myself to say it… I should let it happen naturally.’ He thought to himself.
He listened to the lecture concerning their country’s current Economic status. Of course it said current, but in reality the lecture was extremely out of date and all the knowledge that would otherwise be gained was lost on them. Mason didn’t particularly appreciate having to listen though something that wouldn’t be useful to him but had to in order to keep his grades up…

Edward went to pick up his boyfriend from his lecture. Noticing him still seated he headed towards him but before he could say anything another student approached Mason first.
“Mason, could you help me out with the math assignment. My parents will kill me if I don’t get a good grade.” One of the students asked as he showed the author his notes.
“Ah, it’s not that difficult… Look…” Mason took his pen and started writing on the notes. “Follow this as an example. All of them are solved in the same manner.” He said after giving the notes back to the other student.
“Really… It was that simple…” The student seemed genuinely surprised.
“I’d be happy to help you more but I’m in a rush.” Mason said as he stood up. A group of three more students approached him.
“Mason! We’re having a party tonight and it would be great if you’d come.” One of them said as he placed his arm on the other’s shoulder and pulled him in, whispering into his ear. “There will be beautiful girls from Accounting major.”
“For real? It’d like to come, can I bring a plus one?” Mason asked.
“Sure! Only if he’s a hottie, alright?” The student said. They began chatting about the party itself happily.
‘That guy’s acting so familiar with him…’ Edward was a bit annoyed seeing his lover being swarmed by others.
“Aww Mason you have such cute earrings! They look great on you!” A girl student said as she touched the student’s earrings.
“Thank you, I’ve been wanting them for a while…” Mason continued talking happily and smiling brightly at the students.
“Have you heard the new movie that’s coming out this week?” Another male student asked.
“Isn’t it the horror film Kathy has been waiting to see? Are you gonna ask her out?” Mason asked while turning his head to the student.
“I would…” The student hesitated.
“Ohooo, someone’s in love~” The girl from before spoke again while The girl from before spoke again while turning to the male that spoke up.
“It’s… complicated…” The student said as he looked at the ground.
“Josh, you’re a great guy. If you ask her out she’ll agree for sure.” Mason reassured the student while tapping him on the shoulder.
“Thanks…” Josh said as he looked up. “I’m not too confident with going on my own though.” He continued.
“How about a double date?” Kathy suggested.
“Sure but with who?” Josh asked in surprise.
“Mason and I can come with.” Kathy said as she pulled the author in.
“Would you guys really do that?” Josh asked as he smiled at the two of them.
“I don’t mind. How about next Friday?” Mason said as he took out his phone and checked his schedule. Kathy leaned on his shoulder to peek at his phone. “So are you free?” She asked.
“Hm… I have some things going on but I could finish them earlier than planned…” Mason thought of ways to change his schedule.
“Mason, if you’re busy it’s not a problem… I don’t want to waste your time on something like this.” Josh said apologetically.
“It’s fine Josh. My work can be done earlier anyway. I could use the chance of pace from time to time.” Mason explained as he added the date in his schedule. “I’ll see what I can do and text you when I’m free. Is it alright?”
“Of course man, you’re doing me a favor.” Josh said to the author than turned to Kathy. “Both of you, thank you.” He said.
“Haha, you’re so cute~” Kathy said as she giggled.
“Alright, go and muster up the courage to invite her out.” Mason said as he took his back pack and swung it on his shoulder. “I have to go now, see ya~”
“See you!” Josh said. “Bye!” Kathy said afterwards.
Mason noticed his boyfriend standing there and waiting for him. ‘I hope he’s not been waiting for long…’ He thought to himself. Before he could say anything however, another student approached him.
“Um… hey…” The student said. He looked nervous and as if he didn’t know what to do with his hands.
“Hello.” Mason said as he smiled and extended his hand for a handshake. “We haven’t met before, I think… Is this the first class we have together?”
“Ah… yes… I’m Benedict; I started a bit later than everyone else.” The student said as he looked away.
‘He seems really shy… so cute’ Mason thought to himself. “Do you know anyone from here?” he asked.
“N-no… I was hoping… I mean if you could… show me around…” Benedict spoke slowly and seemed to have a stutter.
“No problem! How about you come with me and another friend of mine. We can go around town together if you have the time!” Mason said happily.
“Is that okay?” Benedict seemed surprise the other was so welcoming.
“Of course it is. Come.” Mason said as he pulled the student’s hand along and went to Edward who was standing several meters away from them just outside the lecture room.
“I came to pick you up…” Edward said with an indifferent voice, he was trying to hide his obvious annoyance. ‘Why are all these people swarming around my boyfriend like that…’ He wondered to himself.
“Thanks for coming to pick me up. Meet Benedict, he’s new here and asked me to show him around. So I told him he could come with us.” Mason said as he introduced the student to his lover.
“It’s nice to meet you.” Benedict said, now finally calming down around Mason.
‘Another pest…’ Edward thought to himself as he shook the other student’s hand. “Nice to meet you as well, I’m Edward.”
“Edward Barrik?!” Benedict exclaimed in surprise.
“Yes, so?” Edward asked as he retracted his hand, he was annoyed at the other. ‘What’s up with this wimp…’ He wondered to himself.
“I’ve heard a lot about you…” Benedict said as he looked away, he couldn’t make eye contact with the other.
‘This man is going to be a pain in the ass…’ Edward thought to himself as he glanced at the man that seemed to be about to faint at any given moment.
