Chapter 14

711 Words
Archie leaned back in his seat and smiled at her. And her heart jumped as she realized an intoxicating sense of freedom, half scared, half excited, she admitted that Lucas had been right. She needed to free herself. Unless she wanted to wear the Princess mask for the rest of her life she needed to break out and find out who the real Amelia was. Restraint and sophistication could go to hell. While she was in Halland she had always been the perfectly ordinary woman and she had told everything about her  truthfully to Archie. A sudden lightness, almost a feeling of relief, sent her spirit soaring. All her life she had been an appendage to something or someone else, the daughter of her parents, Lucas’s elder sister, the last Princess of Halland, cousin to every royal family around. Even her career, although she had proved she was a good model it had been her title and the entry it gave her that got her the chance to become a model and TV presenter. Keeping her eyes fixed on the view through the window, she watched as the plane flew on top of the clouds and turned away from her kingdom and was heading towards the unknown, more places for her to see on the other side of the world. When the seatbelt light flicked off Archie touched her arm with the slightest of touches, yet it ran like wildfire through her and she wondered was wrong with her? Or was she that desperate. He said.” I have work to do. If you need anything, ring for the steward.” She nodded, watching him with fascination as he moved across to a desk that has clearly been set up for business. Tall and sturdy the angles of his face strong and disturbingly sensual, he covered the cabin, diminishing the luxurious interiors into significance by the sheer force of his personality. What would he be like as a lover? Tender and thoughtful, or wildly passionate, as masterful as he was. Was he actually experienced? Her breath became faster and to her shock, a languorous heat flowed through her, melting her bones and setting her nerves dancing in forbidden anticipation. What did she know about love, about lovers? If Archie made a move she wouldn't know what to do. He would probably found it a turn-off or laughable. Fortunately, the Steward walked in silently and gave her a couple of magazines to kill her time and she noticed a selection of magazines including, the one she was featured in. When she saw her photographs and the wild look she had posed in them she was shocked and embarrassed, why did she even consent to this kind of photoshoot as it was way out of her style? The rebellious look didn’t suit her, her face and persona were too conventional to cope with the wild side. Her gaze drifted towards the place where Archie was seated and saw him bent his head and was busy reading through a stack of papers. She focused her attention back on the magazine. She started reading through a fashion blog and tried to concentrate but soon it became all blurry and she was bored to death. After several minutes she relaxed enough to be able to breathe easily. Her eyes drooped. The hum of the engines and the previous night’s sleepless hours were strong sedative. She opened her eyes and stared out of the window, only to be shocked to her senses and her body trembled with fear as she watched the creature with red eyes looking at her very fiercely through the window. She wanted to scream but no sound came out of her mouth. Was she hallucinating? She wondered and closed her eyes and when she opened it again the view outside had become dark and the fierce red eyes were still staring at her. She closed her eyes again but as soon as she did she heard a voice whisper in her ears. “Princess Amelia…Welcome to a world of hell. Looking forward to meeting you.” After hearing that she let out a scream and at that same point in time there was thunder and lightning outside and the plane started to shake.
