“Do you have motion sickness when you travel?” Archie asked with concern.
“No.” She told him decisively, adding, “This is all new to me I've never traveled in a private jet before.”
. “You surprise me,” Archie said with a smile on his face.
“And why are you surprised?” Amelia asked curiously.
He leaned back and regarded her with enigmatic eyes. “I had the impression you spent a lot of time jetting around the world with your cousins.”
“Usually I drive,” she looked at him evenly. Sometimes she used trains and buses as well. Irritated that he would judge her in this way, she felt hurt that he made judgments about her without bothering to take the trouble of finding out anything about her.
She went on, “ And I have never crossed the world before. Is Jet lag as bad as they say?”
“Some people find it very difficult to deal with. I don't.” Archie replied.
“You are the superman,” she said sweetly.
Her mind was running wild, sending a reckless shiver of pleasure through Amelia.
“Did I sound smug?’ He asked. “I am very fortunate but I take precaution.”
“And what is that?”
“I always close my eyes and sleep before I reach my destination and it really helps.”
Amelia looked up at him and saw that he was teasing her and wondered. Why is he talking about sleeping now? I haven’t slept for the whole night.
“Denmark is six hours ahead of us, When we reach there you will know that we will be eating at that time,” Archie told her.
“You can relax enough to sleep later; you will have adjusted to the local time when we arrive in the Mountain Kingdom.” Archie told her with a smile on his face.
Sleeping that wouldn't be difficult. She had spent a lot of last night staring into the darkness and wondering what on earth she had agreed to.
Nothing, she told herself again. after all, Archie's attitude as well as his remark to Harry and Kristine the previous night had made it impossible for her to reject it and was obvious that he was fully in control of his physical urges. Which had to be a good thing....
It was a pity she couldn't quite feel any gratitude for his unspoken promise of restraint as for an unknown reason her heart was going all wild.
She bent her head trying to control the blush that was making her cheeks red and said, “Kristine said that she has this habit of riding every day and also she goes for yoga classes and meditates every day. She even goes for long run to stay fit and in shape.”
She had been grateful for that information at least striding around the cabin would give her something to do something to concentrate on.
Acutely and intensely aware of Archie she felt as though she was inhaling his scent with every breath she took.
“Keeping away from alcohol and Caffeine help things to help too,” Archie told her laconically.
“That won't be a problem.” She said as she was an occasional drinker.
However, when the engine's changed and they began to pick up speed down the air traffic, Amelia decided she could use something strong and sustaining. She peered out at the scenes as the jet broke free of the earth and started to climb.
An unusual panic clenched her stomach muscles deliberately, so she fixed her eyes on the view outside.
Never in all her life had she behaved so impetuously. Thinking back, she couldn't remember when she had decided that the best way to meet life was with restraint and cool composure. Possibly she had just been sensible and prosaic.
Whatever the cause, having seen her parents die at such an early age made her disheartened, she decided that she wasn't going to endure the pain like that. So far no man had ever been able to break that barrier.
But when she had met Archie for the first time the barrier she had built around her shattered. And she got more and more attracted to him.
